Champions League QFs (11th - 19th April)

I'm not saying it's fixed but why do these decisions always tend to go for Barca/Real rather than against them.

It happens with pretty much everything involving FIFA/UEFA. They always seem to get first choice for world XIs and player of the year awards too. If DDG ever goes to Real, he'll be GK of the year in his first season.

It's been an embarrassment to football. The sport has no integrity when a match is ruined by the very people who are employed to ensure it's played fairly.

It was ruined as a spectacle which is fine if a player did something genuinely risky because safety does come before entertainment but when it's things like that, it's just annoying.

That's an impossible call for the ref given his position, video refs are only a matter of time really. Bayern got helped in the first leg with the pen, but Real got a lot more help in the second leg. Casemiro should have been sent off, Vidal shouldn't and the 2-2 is offside. I still think the better team went through, although it would have probably ended in penalties if the ref hadn't ruined the game with some terrible calls.

I can't even feel bad for Bayern after the 12-1 from a few years ago
Now you remind me that ..... GREAT VICTORY FROM REAL MADRID

1. 2nd goal for Bayern was offside (Müller )
2. Casemiro still on the pitch ?!?!!?!?!?
3. Vidal not sent off earlier ?!?!
4. Vidal's 2nd yellow card wasn't even a foul
5. offside goal
6. offside goal

Not to forget the wrong decisions in the first leg. Shocking performance of the referees overall. At this point TV replay must be used in near future.

To the game: Absolutely amazing games and performances of both teams. Proved that this matchup deserves to be considered as one of the all time classics. Grats to all Madrid fans here. ! Also respect to Boateng and Hummels for a great performance despite not being 100% fit.
Such a shame that these referee decisions will probably overshadow this game.

Come again?

So you're saying he didn't clip him?

There was contact, at speed, with a player running in a counter attack. It's a foul and because it's a counter attack it's a yellow card. Aafter not giving him second yellow earlier for that awful foul on Casemiro, he had it coming.

He kicked Vidal's foot to be fair.

So you're saying you don't remember his awful tackle on Casemiro when he already had a yellow card?

If so, there's nothing more to talk about.

Are you talking about when they barged into each other and Casemiro rolled around a few times?

You're talking too much common sense for this lot.

Obviously you weren't watching the game mate.

They slowed it down on BT Sport's after to show Lewa was just offside in the build up.

So turns out he obviously was watching the game... But then I'd have thought that obvious considering he's posting in the match thread about an incident that happened in the match.

This. Bayern and Real are both as dirty as each other. There was always a high chance the game would be decided on a controversial red.

The power of subjectivity. I guess we all see what we want to see and all I saw was a foul from the butcher.

Yes, a big shame because it was an absolutely cracking game.

Nobody was "dirty" on the pitch, it's just that the refs were horrible. I am taking the decisions pro Bayern (even though they weren't as numerous or ridiculous) into account when I say this.

I guess that you all will support Madrid in the semifinals  .
About the game, really impressed with Robben. In Madrid Marcelo was fantastic.
Lucas Vázquez was very useful last season but he is not good enough for these top games.
I would have played with Morata,a bigger threat and able to sacrifice in the defense.
Also happy with Asensio, growing every match, he can shine in quarters of C.L and definitely next year will have a lot of prominence in the team

That proves my point. Sure the ref helped Madrid in extra time but Beyern shouldn't have even reached that extra time to start with.

Really? How do you know Bayern wouldn't have scored until the end 1 more goal? The majority of the big decision went Madrid's way. Sure some of the decision went for Bayern. This is the case in every tie called a robbery in the past as well.

They couldn't score before the red card except with a penalty and an offside goal which Navas and Ramos fecked it up.

What makes you believe they would score if they couldn't score a proper one through the whole game ?

Well, maybe if Lewandowski wouldn't have been stopped 1 vs 1 with Navas for a non-existent offside, maybe they would have scored more. Among others.

The vast majority of the big calls went for Madrid.

i do wonder how many champions league finals real and barca really would have got to in the past decade had it not been for refereeing decisions being hugely on their sides during the knockout phase?

You look at English football and this game and you realise how far behind the PL still is.

I have nothing against playing dirty, it's what the best teams do these days, but I can't really bring myself to feel sorry for guys like Robben or Muller.

And I said that the ref helped Madrid in the extra time , no denying that.

Helped them before as well. No offside for Lewa in 1 vs 1 goal scoring chance. No 2nd yellow for Casemiro. Casemiro is Madrid's Vidal. Bayern's Vidal got to the showers, Madrid's Vidal got to stay on.

We lost that tie in the first leg. A week ago, Bayern didn't really play, we were nervous and unfocussed, even before Martinez' sendoff. It speaks about Reals quality that we were up until then - Real is by no means an unbeatable team. We almost led them to penalties today with 10 vs. 12.
So I'm gutted, but only to a small part because of the shocking refereeing. Ancelotti may be a good moderator of stars, but he can't install that "They may be Real, but we are Bayern" feeling.

Combine this with the penalty he gave to Bayern and the offside goal and you'll know the ref was just shit. He wasn't targeting a certain team but was a horrible referee.

I agree, there's a more intelligent discussion to be had regarding just how bad some of the referees are in general in the CL and EL. This forum isn't the place for it, it's all brown envelopes and tin foil hats here.
