Champions League Quarter Finals 2020/21 - Apr 6/7 & 13/14

Get Firmino on for Gini, he’s lucky he’s not the one subbed.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen us this outclassed, up with Fulham at home.

True they don't seem completely out of the tie just yet but if their history is anything to go by they are going to hold their own, maybe even equalize up until the 75th minute and then concede 2 or 3 stupid goals in the final 15 minutes.

Yeah unfortunately sounds about right. I'm watching the Liverpool game but looking at the stats I'm amazed that City have only had one shot on goal, being the goal itself, is that right?

Yes! Very clearly so! He's just been letting people maul each other near the boxes for whatever reason

We probably should have had a penalty too. Two free kicks at the edge of the box. Liverpool should also have had two free kicks near the box(the one mentioned in the lead up to the second goal and another on keita). The one saving grace is that he's been consistent with it
Yeah, the foul on Benzema was a pen. Or at least worth a look.

It's that ref that last featured for the PSG - Basaksehir scandal game. It's his first European game since then and this too has been an utter disgrace.

Pool are awful.. Arsenal shat the bed and made them look good.

The cult of Arteta a big factor in that. Pool have been shite for ages. All the “Liverpool are back” hot takes in the football press were ridiculous. Today really just proves a) what a great chance Arsenal had to nick a decent result and b) how diabolical they played to get so completely dominated.

oh my days that is the worst decision I have seen in a long time. feck me that was a shocker.

Disgraceful decision really, all he had to do was allow play to finish and VAR would have made the goal stand. He's made two shockers in our favor, one overturned by VAR and the other one not given a chance.

I didn't think I cared much about tonight (working on the assumption that we wouldn't win it anyway) but that lifeless performance has pissed me off. Defensive mistakes aside the lack of effort is atrocious. Players hiding too often. It's been like this since December with this group of players.

Nowadays refs even let play continue when someone's 2 meters offside just 'in case' evem for half a chance. Now he couldn't wait 1 second for a certain goal. It's disgraceful.
Of course its a disgraceful decision.

Does the Romanian league even have VAR?

City are boring as feck to watch. They have a lot of the ball, barely create chances, but are clinical and when they've got the goal they just kill the games with their possession and fouls.

Oh is it really?! haha this is one of the most suspect decision I've seen in a while.

Also this Alexander-Arnold stuff with England has magnified every one of his performances now. When he has a bad game like tonight everyone is going to notice more than they were.

Missed the Benzema penalty shout. How the hell wasn't that a penalty? As clear as any I've seen, Kabak was nowhere near the ball.

Has he been poor?

Was thinking similar, no soul in how City play. Feels like every goal is a cut back or from ball across the six yard box. They're really effective but really dull to watch.

They're like Spain team at the 2010 world cup to me. They're clearly the best side around but it always feels like they're content to do just enough each time. They're very dull, everything is so calculated and regimented.

And it means on the incredibly rare occasions things don't go to plan, like Utd scoring inside 2 mins in the last derby, they look lost.

BTsport/english media cannot bring themselves to criticize Trent, even though he was directly culpable for both goals. The coddling is ridiculous but expected.

Funnily enough I think Southgate made a mistake not trying his in midfield at International level, ala Lahm. The lad has the talent and the problem is that James and Walker are better defenders that work in a team that doesn't always dominate. I reckon his passing ability would be good for England in the midfield role. Seems weird that such a talented lad might miss out on the Euros after what he has shown in the last couple of years.

sheesh absolutely bullied Dias, lucky he was off balance
