Champions League Round of 16 (14th Feb - 15th Mar)

If Sevilla don't have an accident It could be 4 spanish teams in quarters.Maybe time for a Madrid-Barsa

What a time to be alive for Barca fans. Congrats to all our resident Barca fans! I'm equally as happy and pleased for you as you guys just saved my 14-fold potential €70k accumulator which seems dead and buried 3 weeks ago. What a match, what a night! Goodnight all!

Hot/cold balls don't allow that. Would mean a massive loss of revenues if one of the teams didn't make the semis.

goal#1 - HOW do you even describe that. An absolutely pathetic goal to concede after 3 minutes in a european cup game when taking a lead to the second leg.
goal#2 - Again, how do you explain that. What is Marquinhos doing. Kurzawa wtf. Not sure there was much he could've done but again to concede such a goal is absolutely ridiculous on this stage.
goal#3 - Penalty after the defender tackles the forward with his head.
(= a collection of absolutely RIDICULOUS goals for this stage that would've still been horrible even if they happened to a 5-a-side team filled with only 60 year olds)

Then Cavani scores and this should finish the tie. 3-1

87 minutes played and this random collection of shit goals is followed by an absolute implosion of the highest order.

goal#4 - Freekick from a not even central position. Normally maybe 1 in 15 attempts of this freekicks would go in I'd say. Maybe another one if we count rebounds.
goal#5 - Obviously a bad call by the ref but what a stupid position to put yourself in. He made it hard for the ref to get it right at full speed with his arm in that position. Suarez also is a cnut of the highest calibre.
goal#6 - Barca lose the ball with their deepest player and Ter Stegen wins it back while there's no one in goal. Neymar almost stumbles at his attempt to do a dummy, then plays a completely obvious ball.

There are no words for this implosion really. It wasn't even a collection of incredible goals. Basically it was 4 incredibly shit goals to concede from PSG's perspective, 1 freekick that usually wouldn't go in from that position, and a last minute goal where every last PSG player knew "OMG we're gonna concede a 6th, aren't we?!"

Ridiculous. My thoughts are with the PSG fans, players, and staff. RIP.

You can break every goal down in the history of football and pick out mistakes. The fact is Barca won 6-1 in probably the most incredible game in European History.

You can pick out a wonder strike and say "the defence should have closed him down".

Maradonas goal against England in 1986 you can say "The defence should have took him out, they should have doubled and tripled up on him" etc.

There's no perfect goal.

The fact is PSG lack experience in Europe, if you are an English club you are used to playing tough games, you play on the counter, the level in competition means you are used to tactically dynamic games.

Teams like United you only need to remind the players "we're Manchester United, we have a history of this in Europe, winning games later, never say die".

PSG you can't say "we are PSG", only select clubs like Barca, Real, Juventus, United, Liverpool, Bayern, Juventus, Milan can say those things.

PSG have no identity, no culture, no history so when you get to 4-0 they are making history not looking back on rich history, there's no real PSG legends to look back on, no memorable European nights.

Yes PSG bottled it but Barcelona made history you can't discredit that with a break down on "what PSG should have done."

Barcelona were as bad in the first leg as PSG were in the second leg.

What is very laughable though is to call this performance a 'miracle'. I've seen lots of users here, and people overall, whine a lot much more for a lot less and tell how they don't play good football and yet after a performance like today claim it's a miracle and ignore the fact they were carried by the referee, PSG threw the match and it was more of a great individual performance from Neymar.

I'm talking about claims like this:

Hardly funny. Barca are the only team that most would genuinely believe could overturn a 4 goal deficient in the knock out stages of the Champions league against one of the top teams in it. I wouldn't have that belief if it was Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or anyone else.

I'm not claiming Barca played especially well just that they are the only team that could pull this off without it being a complete one off miracle.

Don't forget the 6th goal came off a freekick where the goalkeeper was fouled as an outfield player in PSG's half

Well yes, obviously in football mistakes are being made left, right, and center. Just like you say, you can break down every goal in the history of football and find something to nitpick about. But that doesn't change the fact that the first 3 goals that even put PSG in such a stupid position where all goals where you'd be livid if your team had conceded just one of those in an important game. But 3 of those to go 3-0 down after a 4-0 lead from the first leg, that's just tough to accept. Then to go on and concede 3 more goals from the 88th minute onwards, that's ridiculous. 6 goals conceded, and not one was conceded from a header after a cross from the side, from a corner, or a good passing move. They were mostly really scrappy goals to concede. I'm not trying to take anything away fom Barca, but for PSG to concede 6 goals like these in this game...that's just insane.

The victory was tarnished by the Suarez dive but more fools PSG for capitulating like that. Just had to hang on for 3 more minutes.

No time to watch the games tonight but I guess Emery is in trouble, he was hired to make better than Blanc in the Champions League.

Guess what, he did even worse and is behind Monaco in the French League.

In the other game no history, the best team won and the other team should have lost that match in Lisbon, very happy for the result, sad that they did not lose by more.

PSG should hang their heads in shame. The manager and the players completely bottled it.

They were scared all night to play football and just wanted to hang on all game
Got into a huge debate with my mates over this.

They're arguing about the ref awarding Barca two goals when clearly there were bigger things at play.

There is no doubt the ref helped them but still losing a 4-0 lead and an away goal is unacceptable, regardless of what the ref does (unless he sends off 4 players or something else as ludicrous as that).

PSG went into the match simply trying to avoid a 5-0 defeat. They weren't even trying to get an away goal until Barca really started putting pressure. They eventually got the away goal but still managed to bottle that.

Barcelona had 7 shots on target and managed 6 goals. That, in my opinion, is a damning stat, regardless of what the ref did or didn't do

I don't understand this criticism about "they scored 6 goals but didn't play a great game"

Well excuse me but I've been following this team and watching almost every game for the last two decades, and like any other team there's day like this (well, not like this, closer thing would be Depor vs Milan or Utd vs Bayern) that everything clicks together for the team to make history, and a lot of other games where you put 11 Angels in the field, they dance with the ball giving us one hell of a performance and end up losing 0-1 and out of the competition

What most people fail to see is that this club has reinvented itself in the last decade, we were the ones that always cracked under pressure, the bottlers that lost to Benfica with 3 posts, the same team that missed 4 penalties in another final in the 80's or that saw a lot of leagues go to Madrid after failing to close them. 20 years ago if you made a poll asking what club would be the first to come back from a 4-0 in the first leg Real, Bayern, Milan, Juve or United would be the main options, just a couple of people would be dumb enough to say Barcelona. We were that team that a lot of times played like the angels and lost anyway, while Madrid could win any game with their 9 scoring with the butt and for a Culé like me this is not just a magical night for all the obviuous reasons, this is also our vindication to say "No sir, comebacks are not just a Real Madrid thing anymore, we're not only equal to those guys when our players have to put their guts to create a miracle, we're now even better!"

Anyways, congratulations @Ishdalar.

Thanks, now I just hope we avoid each other and pray we don't have a Real Madrid vs Barcelona final, I've had enough tension today, rather not have to go through that too in the next 3 months

BT Sport gloss over the dive. Appalling.

Incredible play from Neymar. He just still believed when others probably given up.

I shudder to think what would have happened if any United player was on the ball just before the final goal. Probably would have hit it straight into the keepers hands or out for a goal kick :( and he actually put that ball in with his weak foot

Incredible game of football, but what happened to PSG in those last 5 minutes? Biggest bottle job I've ever seen. And despite that, the second penalty shouldn't have been given.

Barca vs. Real is UEFA's dream final. I'm surprised it's never happened considering there's been 3 all Spanish finals, and one all English, German and Italian. Maybe this year..
Hopefully It will never happen.I couldn't bear to lose against them in a C.L final

No, now i demand a madrid vs barcelona final. It's only right

PSG as a plausible elite football club is dead tonight, this disaster will haunt them 10 years from now.

Seems like this is the night for comebacks:

On a Question of Sport, Daws' team just won after being 5 points behind going into the on the Buzzer round

Barcelona were around 10-1to win the tie, I wonder if there was any big money on Barcelona tonight ?

Don't worry, we won't make it to the final playing like this.
