Champions League Round of 16 (14th Feb - 15th Mar)

Do not want to add Bellingham to the team on the back of this performance. We already have enough passengers in our squad.

A really bad result for Hipster FC considering how bad Chelsea have been the past few months.

Wouldn't surprise me at all to have a Chelsea - Liverpool final.

One of them is probably going to win it.
Is this a jinx or am I missing something? Neither team has shown themselves to be anywhere near good enough and Liverpool are 3 goals down to Real Madrid.

Is German football turd considering that Dortmund have lost to one of the worst Chelsea teams since the turn of the century?

Yeah I don’t get it either. Bit of a circle jerk about them over the last wee while.

Napoli v Madrid final I reckon.

Must be horrible for @do.ob being knocked out by "Not a big club historically" with a "dull football/atmosphere to be expected" in "such a depressingly boring draw..".

Rest up champ. You're still joint top of the farmers league.

Sorry, I really underestimated the atmosphere.

It wouldn't surprise me If Liverpool atleast give them a scare like we did.

Ancelotti has form when it comes to this.

Chelsea played two good matches, regardless of not having been great for a lot of the season. Don't think that says much about German football.

That kind of thinking would lead to some very strange conclusions if you applied it to Liverpool's recent matches

He's quietly turned things around post-WC. Didn't put a foot wrong tonight.

The central defender in a back 3 suits him SO much better than LCB where he is forced to jump out and defend tricky wingers in the channels.

So Liverpool to win 4-0 against Real at Bernabeu ?
A 4 goal margin win in Madrid you think? Or just 3 then win on penalties?

Were Chelsea good enough under Di Matteo?

Nope, they got lucky. Potter will probably get some of the same luck, like Tuchel and win himself a few more months and then be sacked.

As for Liverpool in Madrid. Stranger things have happened, they put 4 past Barca to beat them. Away goals is gone, so a 3 goal winning margin and it goes to et/penalties. I wouldn't put it past the cnuts.

It's definitely going to be a Liverpool - Chelsea final, Chelsea will win and Liverpool will pip Spurs to 4th and they'll all be back in the CL next season.

Well all the transfers should click soon, maybe this is the start for them. Only a few clubs are capable of winning the CL while having a dreadful season and chelsea is one of them.

Sadcafe is ridiculous

You can get 100/1 on Liverpool to win the CL and 17/1 on them to qualify in Madrid via any means.

Probably worth a safety bet on both tbf. I made over £100 when they came back v Barcelona

We outplayed every team in our CL campaign when we won it with Tuchel. I don't know how you can say we were lucky in that one. Probably the least "lucky" CL winners in years.

Yep agreed - especially because he can be more selective with his aggression. Thought he stepped up very effectively a number of times and seemingly caught Dortmund players off guard.

You beat City in the final and that was good enough for me.

Maybe don't judge him 9ff the back of one game

He's of course not always that bad but Bellingham absolutely does have a habit of playing hero ball. Dortmund's best player was unfortunately subbed off inkured very early in the game

I didn't mean Tuchel was lucky, meant the lucky CL win will buy Potter a bit more time before he inevitably gets sacked in October.

That’s true, him and Cucurella were excellent in that aspect. It was a such a feel good performance overall with quite a few struggling players having huge nights.

I found it interesting how much freedom Cucurella had at times tonight. As your LCB you expect him to perform a certain role, but he was getting up the pitch like a wing back at times, along with your actual wing back Chillwell.

The overloads out wide and flexibility in your play tonight caused them all sorts of issues. It's something I thought Potter's Brighton did well, so perhaps he's starting to see some of his ideas come to fruition.

1 BL club already out, atleast 2 more coming up and still plenty of chance Bayern go out tomorrow as well.

Yeah agreed. It's a small thing but it was also interesting that Cucurella took our throw-ins in the attacking third when Chilwell was there - felt like broadly the aim in possession was to create a 4v3 overload down the flanks and it worked pretty well given Dortmund tend to have a man-oriented pressing system. If Adeyemi had been fit I think the tactics would have been completely different - but with Reus, Reyna, and Haller it was pretty clear that we were comfortable relying on the recovery pace of our CBs to play 3v3 or even 2v3 or 3v4 at times at the back.
