He isn't necessarily bringing Islam into it; he's highlighting the irony of someone involved with a group of people who claim to be against Islamic terrorism using tactics identical to those utilised by the terrorists they claim to be against. Hence showing that they're not as different from such groups as they'd like to think.
Or trying to connect/blame Islam for something that has nothing to do with it. Very lazy slander.
