The irony lies in the fact that these extreme right groups often claim to be the ones most ardently against Islamic terrorism...even though on occasions such as this they're employing identical tactics and aiming for a similar desired effect. Highlighting how they're really not all that different from the groups they're claiming they oppose.
He's quite obviously referring to jihadi groups such as Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and ISIS, all of whom have utilized, praised, and attempted to give religious sanction to the tactic of car-ramming.

Sammsky, what's deeply ironic about it is this: A favourite tactic of white supremacists, racists and islamophobes is to smear Islam as a whole by pointing to the various terrorist acts nutters commit in its name. One of the chief methods these assholes use is mowing people down in moving vehicles. If a guy goes about impugning an entire religion on the basis that nutters drive into people in its name, then goes out and drives into people in the name of Nazism or whatever, then it completely betrays the poverty of his own morality and world view. That's deeply ironic, even if his terrible world view required no betrayal in the first place..
