Chelsea 2016/17 - Very Content

I agree to a degree about the psychology of management. It's a really valid point.

My rebuttal is that Klopp was at Dortmund and Mainz for 7+ seasons and left both clubs on great terms.

How many times have Conte/Klopp/Poch/Pep been relieved of there roles? It's a bit different with Mourinho.
It is different with Mourinho.

Hazard and Costa are superb at catching teams out if they're caught sleeping or are set up badly. They'll do the same damage with a few touches of the ball that other teams need about 50 attacks to do.

Exactly the point I have been making recently about United needing someone as clinical as this.

10 league wins in a row. No easy feat these days. Have to give Conte credit.

They coped without Hazard albeit it was against one of the worst teams in the league.

Hopefully they or Arsenal get the job done.

Clearly the best team in the league right now.

Would be interesting to see how they'd cope with a injury to someone like Costa though.

Glad they won, hurry up and win the fecking league already.

We signed a striker that scored 20 goals in Ligue 1 last season. I think we'd cope. It's Hazard that we can't play without.

Would've scored about 3 or more today with Hazard playing. Utterly dominated but neither Willian nor Pedro can finish most days.

Have had them as favourites for a while. They have the best players in the best form, and the best understanding of what their manager wants. Overall, a really solid team. More importantly, it means Liverpool aren't getting near it. City neither. In the crap years of cup runs and top four aspirations, these are always good things to know as early as possible.

Dont jinx it ffs. No one wants dippers having a look in.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if City nick it but dippers and arsenal must not win.

What?

You want City to win it ahead of Arsenal?

That's nonsense.

Looks like Chelsea being written off will have to stop. Conte has them playing really well and when they are not they still win. Cant ask for more from them really if you were a Chelsea fan.

Have the feeling the will just keep creeping ahead until they are about 15 points clear in March without anyone really noticing

Rumour is Verratti is Conte's number 1 target to pair with Kante.

Absolutely no chance of it happening this January but I wonder if we can tempt PSG & Marco next summer. If he does decide to leave, Pep & of course Barcelona would probably be our biggest obstacles.

They're in blistering form at the minute but the league is not over just yet.

It just goes to show how vital Kante is. Wins the league with Leicester and brings out the best in the players around him. Then comes to Chelsea and the same thing happens with Costa and Hazard. What a player he is.

Actually with Kante they lost at home against Liverpool and away against Arsenal. The change in formation helped them achieve this great winning streak.

Correct but take Kante out of this team and I don't think they would be nearly as good.

You're right, unfortunately. He's such a key player at PSG and they're one of the few clubs who we can't muscle for their players. Only way we could sign him is if he kicks up a fuss and asks to leave.

I'd personally throw all of the Oscar money at them and force them to reject it. Show how seriously we may want him and maybe he pushes for the move.

Ideally I would not want another CM right now as Chalobah is so so close to making it. But if its Verratti then we should jump at it and maybe sell Matic.

More likely Cesc than Matic don't you think?

You are right that Cesc is more likely to be sold than Matic. With Verratti in we can have Kante and Verratti as starters while Matic and Chalobah being like for like replacements for them.
Although, selling Cesc will leave a hole with regards to the creativity in that midfield.

Yeah, you are not getting Verratti.

It is most likely a lazy media link due to Conte being Italian and Verratti the same, if Verratti is going anywhere it is either RM or Barca, at a stretch he might go back to Juve.

You need to learn not to piss on the bonfire.:nono:

Will win the league but aren't nearly as strong as people think they are. They have started using a new system with this three at the back which has meant people haven't worked them out yet. In the same way city looked ominous at the start of the season winning ten on the bounce until one team worked them out then everyone else did.

They are very defensively set up but are getting away with it because nobody is pushing their fullbacks back far enough. Their centre backs are also very weak, Cahill david luiz and a good right back who usually plays at left back. The two full backs are also not very good so if teams play wingers very high up, with their two cms both being dms they will lose a lot of their edge when teams push the wide players back further. It will leave a huge amount of creativity on the shoulders of the front three. When they lose one they will lose a few on the bounce. I still do think they are the best drilled team in the league with the players in the best form, but they are not miles ahead in terms of quality on a couple of teams.

We're not a mile ahead of our rivals, but you're grossly underestimating our defense.

Alonso, Barely stood out at sunderland. Victor Moses basically a loan player, and new to the position. Cahill shite. Azpi very good player but also new to the position so could be teething problems. Luiz, decent cb, great pass and nowhere near as error prone as people pretend he is.

Cahill isn't brilliant but he's not shite. No matter what we say about the national squad, he's still an Enland international. Moses also seems to have found his role. Alonso is the weak link for me.

Here we go again with this "Chelsea are set up very defensively" shit...

Alonso and cahill on one side are there to be got at for me. Being an international for England really doesn't mean a great deal any more, in the mid 2000s you would have to be a top cb but now you pretty much just need to play in the prem. Moses is playing well I agree, very well, and maybe it does turn out that this is where he should have been playing all along but I would still expect some transitional mistakes.

5 at the back 2 defensive mids. If teams play high wingers Chelsea would have 8 of 11 players on the pitch who's main purpose is to stop goals going in to their goal, that's a lot.

You mean like City did? I think the advantage of the system is that yes we can drop back to a strong defensive unit, but it also allows for a very quick turnover with the wing backs pushing up, Luiz pressing forward allowing Kante and Matic to advance and suddenly that defensive structure turns into a very fast attacking one.

So basically they are very good in attack and defence?

It is. Also due to Verratti saying Conte is the best coach hes ever worked for and he worships him ... or words to that effect

That is fair, best team in transition in the league.

Win today and title could be over with their home bankers over the holidays.

They could be 10 points clear of Arse/Pool/City by New Years Day.
