Chelsea 2017/18 thread - FA Cup Champs, League chumps

Literally getting ridiculous. Every player another club signs :lol:

Chelsea bid £88m for Higuain according to some sources. A big upgrade or too much money?

Too old and too expensive, don't see Higuaín coming to the Bridge.

Just realised one thing about a potential Chelsea spending spree: By offloading squad & loan players they already generated £65m in transfer fees, which is almost exactly as much as they paid for Bakayoko/Rüdiger/Caballero.

If they now sell, say, Costa, Matic & Willian to further improve the team, the overall transfer income will likely pass the £150m mark. Combined with a regular transfer budget, that's a lot of money.

I know financing transfers is much more complicated than this, Cuadrado's fee will be paid in several instalments, and so on. But this window's income is going to be significant nevertheless.

-----------
Edit: Forgot Oscar's winter transfer; that's probably another pile of money to be added.

Would starting Batshuayi be that bad? He seemed to be really dangerous whenever he came on last season, despite not having that many chances.

These days, the usual transfer budget is what ever Chelsea can get from player sales. Have about £10m net on average for the last 3 years. No reason to believe this year will be any different.

Questions need to be asked of the Club as to why the increased revenues from Yokohama, Nike and PL are not being spent on the squad.

Your new stadium? Thats my best guess.

Beat Fulham 8-2 in pre-season

Willian x 3
Batshuayi x 2
Remy x 2
Azpilicueta x 1

Sergio Aguero to Chelsea: Pep Guardiola approves deal - Spanish journalist
MANCHESTER CITY manager Pep Guardiola has approved a deal for Sergio Aguero to move to Chelsea, according to a sensational claim from Spanish journalist Man Utd Sainz.

Chelsea are in the market for a striker after boss Antonio Conte told Diego Costa he is not in his plans for the upcoming season.

They missed out on Romelu Lukaku as Manchester United snuck in ahead of them and sealed a £75million deal for the Belgian.

Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata, Torino's Andrea Belotti and Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are three others who have been linked.

But now it seems they are in for the two-time Premier League winner Aguero.

Aguero stuff is absolute rubbish surely, still think our main targets are still Morata, Belotti & Auba.

Hopefully get danilo wrapped up in case city come and swoop in.

Diego Costa is doing his best to leave. Partying in Atletico Madrid shirt, when Cesc commented someone give Costa a hug he said someone give Conte the hug (something like that)

Would he very surprised if he plays for Chelsea again.

He's such an asshole. Utter disrespect to Chelsea, but he's an excellent striker and it'd be a loss to Chelsea.

Also why do they want Danilo anyway? Isn't he a kind of joke in Madrid?

He was but madrid fans said he sort of improved in the last few games. Will be interesting how he copes up in PL where he won't play for the most dominant side

I'm loving this Costa story though, it's funny. More funny because it's happening at Chelsea.

He didn't manage to make the grade after a horrible start, but he still has his qualities. He had more confidence recently and played better, but he lost the duel against Carvajal big time and won't have much of a future at Madrid.

I guess he could fare better as a wingback in English/Italian football than as a fullback for Real (which is super-difficult). So I think he could be a good signing for Chelsea, and a likely upgrade on Moses.

No that would be Lukaku

Lukaku: 53 PL goals in the past 3 PL seasons, Costa: 52 PL goals in the past 3 seasons. But yeah, Lukaku is wildly overrated, so much so in fact, that plenty on here (probably clueless posters like yourself) are calling him utter shite. Costa is a grade a cnut who literally turns up when he feels like it and when things are going 100% his way. Is he talented? Yes, but he has way too much baggage and he's nowhere near talented enough for any manager to put up with the shite that comes with him.

1.So they have similar goal records, yet you call one fecking overrated, I point out you're overrating the other
2. Don't make assumptions, I've never called him utter shite, I said Costa was better and you're overrating Lukaku
3. Costa has effected more big games than Lukaku during his time in the PL and over his career
4. Costa fired Athletico to the league title and was one of the top scorers in the UCL too

Now I didn't say Costa wasn't a difficult cnut, what has that got to do with the quality of the player? I am saying he is a better player than Lukaku and that is just simply true. If you feel Lukaku is the better player right now then you are overrating Lukaku simple as.

Yep as I alluded to a million times before about Costa; he must have been a far better player at Atletico because the player I've seen at Chelsea isn't all that great.

How am I overrating anyone? I have always said Lukaku was better than Costa (look through other threads and this was when he looked a cert to go back to Chelsea). Clearly Costa is the more overrated as even Chelsea fans on here have said that United fans on here overrate him. Whereas, Lukaku has been described as utter shite by many a clueless fan, so there's no way on earth is he overrated or anything like it.

You answered your own question.

I'm not bothered about what others are saying I am saying you are overrating Lukaku if you feel he is better than Costa that is all.

And I feel you're overrating Costa as I feel Lukaku is the better player and I would pick him ahead of Costa every single time. Opinions eh.

You mean the player who in his first season was absolutely unstoppable, and setting records for one of the fastest players to reach each goal milestone? Because, yeah he really is that great. Terrible attitude, but an absolute beast of a goalscorer when he's not in a huff.

Nah, he really isn't that great. Jamie Vardy set records too so no relevance whatsoever.

:lol: Didn't Costa have nearly 20 league goals in Jan this season, before the trouble started. he was unplayable this season before then

You're as shit a poster as I suspected. You tried to fool me into thinking otherwise, scamp ;)

Wow ok I'm out. No need to get personal just because I disagree with your opinion. This isn't RAWK mate

Running in to post smilies because a Chelsea fan has your back. Real mature, lad :)

Wow a Chelsea fan that overrates one of their own, shocking.

I laughed at your Vardy comment. Too many assumptions being made by yourself.

Assumptions? Funny how quick you were to come back in here eh. Thought we had some maturity and agreed we rated the players differently. I guess not. I respect posters that can fight their own battles and use construrtive arguments.

State of that lads post about Costa and his records; so fecking what. Vardy set records in a title winning season. Which means that my Vardy point was a dig at such a pathetic retort. Oh noes Costa once set records 3 years ago. So fecking what.

I'm actually gutted he's leaving. I think Chelsea will be a far better team without him and I believe they will sign a better player.

Which battle am I fighting
I'm done with that, I laughed at a comment re Vardy and you blew your load. Like I said no need to get personal it really ins't that deep.

I actually hope Chelsea end up with Llorente so I can laugh at @Kentonio
