Chelsea 2017/18 thread - FA Cup Champs, League chumps

How are Chelsea fans feeling about this game, confident?

Imo it can go either way. Both teams need to win it, a draw isn't enough.

No confidence. Losses set off massive panics every time we suffer one. Along with the injuries and Conte not showing any sort of flexibility, it doesn’t matter if it’s your bogey ground. It’s United, it’s Mourinho, Mata, Matic, Lukaku. Conte showed last season he knew what to do with the squad. Gotta hope he starts figuring it out Sunday.

Edit: Even when he called out the papers out for being BS, there were people saying he’s finally lost the plot. There are people claiming he hasn’t rotated the squad enough. Who is he supposed to rotate? Christensen and MAYBE Kenedy. But that’s enough to say he’s completely handling the fixture congestion incorrectly? Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Luiz not included in squad. Not injuried either.

What's going on @duffer? Thought Cahill and Rudiger have been worse.

He’s been injured for a while and has been playing through it. Feel like that can be said for everyone.

3-5-1-1, more of the same from Conte. Be lucky for a point me thinks. Don’t understand the whole “sacked if we lose” sentiment though.

You are the favourites especially with how Mourinho sets up away from home.

Also, United have won once at the Bridge in 15 years, and I am man enough to admit that even that win was a bit dodgy.

Yeah it's not like we not had any dodgy ref decisions go against us at the Bridge.

What a man you are.

Did Mou wait for Conte for a handshake that never came as Conte didn't so much as look in his direction, or was that just my impression?

Anyways, good win, deserved for Chelsea. I still can't wrap my head around how little this chelsea side resembles Conte's Juventus and even Italy. They play with so much less intensity and energy...

Yep, that's what I read into it as well. Was blanked by Conte, who continued to celebrate in his usual over-exuberant style.

It's amazing what a difference Kante makes. He transforms that whole midfield and allows Fabregas and Bakayoko to express themselves. They are half the team without him.

Game raising cnuts always against us. Cannot see them playing so motivated again for sometime. But fair play to them. They deserved it.

I don't get why he keeps playing Cesc honestly. Think they'd be so much better with Pedro

Played as if it was a Cup final for them, amazed by their intensity. We were not match for it, utterly deserved victory for them.

Conte can feck off though, no reason as to why he'd refuse to shake Mourinho's hand. He's beaten him fair and square and he chooses not to, dickhead.

In that case, you're only seeing what you want to. He's been here long enough to know, once the FT whistle goes you shake the opposition managers hand and then carry on whatever the feck you want to do. He knew full well what he was doing.

Conte saved his job today so very well done to him and the players, not surprised by his reaction after the final whistle: CL knockout stage is almost there and solidly in the 2-4 mix in the league, only behind the absolute, in-form, almighty (for now) Pep's midgets. His 100-euros restaurant quest for glory continues. :p

Conte and Jose never seen eye to eye since last season at the Bridge and the comments Jose made to Conte after the game. Conte should have shaked his hand though, out of politeness.

Yeah, that's why i asked. I got the distinct impression he acted like the turbocnut that he is, just wanted to know if it was just me

He's taken the worst Italy side in ages to a EURO QF and then only went out on penalties against a stacked Germany, went to England and won the title in his first try setting the record for wins in a season, yet given juventus 2 CL finals in 3 years, he's not gonna live that down until he reaches a couple CL finals of his own

Plus he did go out against Germany in a tournament  unforgivable

Because our only creative player is Hazard. Fabregas on form makes the whole team click.

Can’t believe the level at which we played today. Conte still has the players respect. Immense performance.

That seems not to be the reason though, according to the post match interview.

Also Agnelli smacking the Juve return door on him last week talking about non-believers during his 2011-2017 sum up

Andreas Christensen (21) vs. Man United: 30/34 passes 2 tackles won 4 interceptions 4 aerial duels won 3 clearances

This guy is the future of our defence. Absolute class act

Well done Chelsea

Conte though is absolutely classless. Mourinho was waiting to shake his hand and he just went off on his own.

He didn't look good in that moment where Fellaini controlled it in the box and had a shot at goal but other than that he was good.

Cesc bossed this game. Sure Cesc in other games maybe not as good, but Kante and Bakayoko lack the play making to do it themselves. They as a team just lack the physical attribute to play that high intensity. Alonso is very good, but the intensity in his play is not on the level Conte demanded from his wing back. Moses is not real wingback. Zappacosta has been decent attacking wise but still lacking intensity. Cesc & Hazard being themselves. They are too vital for the current Chelsea team as explained above about Cesc. Morata can do it, but he has yet to get to his best consistently.

This game they don't even need that higher intensity since we're playing like with 10 men the way Mkhi has been performing.

About the 10th time I have seen you post this. Move on, being butt hurt isn't good for anyone.

Same here. Jose acted normally but Conte was off celebrating. Even in the post match he shrugged it of saying its "not important" rather than saying he forgot or something on those lines.

Him along with Zouma would be a deadly pairing which could rival Terry-Carvalho and for a long time to come too.

nah, it is his own native club, and his future career as a coach at the highest levels: for all his evident merits, he must acknowledge in that particular case he had been a know-it-all knobhead... Chelsea is temporary in his career, his Juve roots are forever

He's on loan at Stoke. Needed the game time as he just came off a serious injury last season.

I've said it before we get Lukaku and ill say it again: Morata offers more as a forward and in today's market is probably worth's the price they paid for him.

Oh so they are game raisers, just like every other team who do well against us. Why do these teams manage to turn games into cup finals while we don't?

We did go for him but Madrid was fe.king with us.

Comparisons with Lukaku are pointless but nevermind.

You have to wonder why they got spanked by Roma midweek.
They have play poor individually and indiscipline in defense. They changed in attitude and improve discipline this game having changing 2 of starting CBs as well as having Kante back.

Mentally weak team. Heads dropped after we missed a few chances and Roma scored a stunner.

I think we need more vocal leaders in this team. Azpi or Cahill have to do more to rally them.
