Chelsea 2017/18 thread - FA Cup Champs, League chumps

Amazing how so many Chelsea fans in here just want to bash Jose for that season and exonerate Conte. This season was an absolute shit-show, end of, really. There's no dressing it up. Poor signings, manager and board at war, poor performances on the pitch etc...

This season has been shit, but compared to 15/16 it feels like a treble season.

And no, this is not me exonerating Conte (I've wanted him gone since the Watford game), but for this season to even be remotely compared to the unprecedented mess of 15/16 is laughable.

If i was the Chelsea board i would sack him before the FA Cup final, just because i dont think hes looked at all interested at Chelsea almost the entire season, and now has the potential to add the FA Cup to his C.V. moaned the signings were not enough, not who he really wanted, which is poor man management, then the way he treated Diego Costa, my god they could have done with a Costa this season as well. the away performance v city is up there with one of the worst performances i have ever seen from Chelsea over the years, walked about most of the time and when they did get the ball they just punted it up to Hazard who just looked like he couldnt care less.

To be fair there's only one poster here who's still criticising Jose. Rest of the the Chelsea fans are more balanced.

BTW, I'm so glad that we didn't sign Morata. One of the worst buys of the season so far.

Technically he would still be classed as an FA Cup winner regardless should we win.

Roy Keane Claims he's never won the CL because he never played in the final and never accepted a medal, that man sets the standards for me and am willing to go with that.

Then that's his choice but he's cutting of his nose to spite his face as it was thanks to him United got to the final.

Kante didn't play the match that sealed our title win last season, does that mean he didn't deserve a medal?

he was out suspended so could have been his fault had they not won it.

a league is a bit different to a cup competition, where i beleive you only need so much games to be awarded a medal 5 games now or something like that.

As much as I love Keane's determination and high standards, there is a point where those things become impractical and unrealistic. Keane often crosses that line, especially with his scathing criticisms, no one is going to berate him for being satisfied with something.

Maybe, but ultimately they won it and it was in a big part down to his performance in Turin.

Probably going to open a can of worms here but it's the same with us in 2012. All the suspended players that night in Munich played a massive role in us getting there in the first place, Terry vs Napoli and the home leg vs Barca while Meireles, Rami and Ivan played for their lives at The Camp Nou. No one can convince me they didn't earn their medals.

How amused hearing Blues fan bashing the most important legend in their history who won them 50% of league titles just to justify a total loss season orchestrated by one of regular passengers who only slept with them for a maximum 2 years.

That explains a lot why their legends kept leaving them for a rival and their current key players dont want to extent their contracts. Deep in their minds they knew it's just a matter of time when somebody new or younger comes and claims their places, they aint gonna be missed even how glorious their time was

Good. We have seen how hard it is to maintain a title challenge whilst playing in this competition. Coupled with the fact that Spurs are bottlers, it is advantageous to us to have Chelsea in the Europa League.

Of course they could play their outstanding youth team players in Europa and go all out for the league, which is what I'd do if I were their manager.

Its some United fans on here that keep bringing up 15/16 and and as consequence Mourinho into the discussion. Its been happening nearly everytime we dont win for months.

Furthermore how is it unreasonable to critisise him for having us fighting relegation? I I mean weren't you lot on Fergies back when you finished 3rd for a few years?

It was a stupid minority. If we're counting a minority as someone who defines a whole fanbase then didn't you lot prevented a black man from entering in a train and chanting "we're racist, we're racist"

This is the Chelsea 2017/18 thread. Keep it on topic.

If you want to have a pissing contest about who has the historically worst fans, please start a new thread so that I can ignore it.

On the positive side we should have a decent chance of winning the EL. We’ve still got the FA cup final. Just being in the CL to make the numbers up isn’t a very exciting prospect. 4th place "trophy" very over rated imo.

I Would like to get a more attacking manager next season. I would be happy if we get Jardim. Could be a springboard for him and us.

Conte is pretty similar to Mourinho in a lot of ways. Wondering if he won’t end up at Utd eventually as well.

Whoever comes in, we need to get Luiz back in the team if we’re going to play a back 3 and need to get the most out of Bakayoko and Morata. Or sell them.

From what I recall the ones that did were concerned the game was passing him by, that obviously turned out to be wrong but the point I was making is you can criticise a manager or even want one out while still appreciating the past.

I wonder how being in the Europa League will affect their summer transfer activity. They struggled to bring in targets last summer and were the reigning champions.

Chelsea look to be in an absolute mess. Possibly Courtois and Hazard leaving them soon too.

Same was said in 2016.

If we lose to this shitshow next week it will be criminal.
If you come at us we are in trouble, but will Jose do that or sit and let us dictate like he did in the league games?

Hopefully Roman is over of spending billions and we are seeing Chelsea finally fall back to their natural level.

Cool, so Chelsea aren't in a mess and everything looks good.
Never said that, but we have a habit of sorting ourselves out when we get into ruts and im confident we will again.

Chelsea fans here are surely the calmest I have ever seen. The Shed forum are pretty much slaughtering the team.

We have been operating on low net spend for ten years so i wouldn't get your hopes up.

Youve only really begun operating within your means last couple years. Roman dumped about billion into your club first 10 years and he is still paying for your new stadium yes?

First time they'll be in a full Europa League campaign next season since christ knows when.

1st time every maybe?

That will affect them.
