Chelsea appoint Thomas Tuchel

It was an off day after an International break. They looked alright before Silva's red. I wouldn't read too much into this, considering Mount and Kante weren't starting either.

Nah they were crap before the red card anyway.

It's still only one game though yeah. West Broms goals were amazing

Still reckon this version of Thiago Silva is better than Maguire Chelsea fans? :D

They were playing pathetically before the sending off, obvious that helped sway the game further in West Brom's favour, but there was never a point in that game where Chelsea were convincing.

What were the patterns of play like today though? That's what matters.

Wait you thought he deserved the second yellow card? i thought the second yellow was harsh. Jorginho was the problem in both yellow cards.

I didn’t watch the game but all I want to know is: Was it a WELL COACHED defeat?
If yes, then it is almost like a win!

They really weren't "crap" - I think that's overcooking it. They went a goal up and looked threatening, but did make a few unforced errors allowing West Brom to hit them too. I wouldn't say they were "crap" before the red though.
Chelsea haven't looked good for weeks.
They've looked good enough, without being extravagant. Up until today's game they looked quite stable and controlling albeit pretty boring to watch. They looked too safe at times but I think they were certainly looking a decent outfit under Tuchel.

Whether he deserved the red or not (he did, by the way, he flew in), @TrustInJanuzaj is saying that atm, Maguire is a better player. He’s right.

I disagree with the red, You mean you agree with his opinion. Ive never spoken about Silva being better or worse than Maguire so...
Last game Maguire was getting beaten easily by Vardy and Kelechi, it's football it happens.

No chance it's a straight red. Definite yellow though. Both yellows were certs.

Vardy has one of Europe’s best goal records since August 2015, and Iheanacho is definitely far better than any WBA striker, who Silva has allowed to boss him around twice now. It’s not like he has been world class aside from that too. Silva in his prime was world class; he has declined massively since.

And yeah I agree with his opinion, hence why I think he’s right. Just because we share opinions doesn’t mean it’s a fact. Comparing Maguire with Silva is a matter of opinion and debate. It’s not like we’re talking about Messi and McBurnie.

I haven’t even seen it mate, just enjoy the banter. Also Maguire is better.

Obviously peak Silva was the better player, but anyone who thinks a 36 year old Silva is better, is clearly a Chelsea fan.
Since I’ve followed Zlatan through his career, I’ve also watched a lot of games with Silva. IMO he peaked early, already at Milan.

He looks cursed. Unless it's a mental thing?

His injury record from his Dortmund days to now is really shocking. Seems like he's always been injury prone. Arjen Robben had similar issues at a similar age and he ended up having to change his entire training regime, one that was tailored specifically for him. Perhaps Pulisic could be benefit from something like that.

Yeah it's not great is it. Especially for someone so young considering these things usually worsen with age.

Needs to hit Ryan Giggs up. He has chronic hamstring troubles until he took up yoga ;)

Yeah I can't see how he can be a reliable player for us if he's always lurking between being injured or recovering from injury.

I do hope it's only advice he takes from Giggs tbf.

If he becomes half the player our Giggsy was you'll get decent value for your £60m+ I'd imagine.
