It did not happen overnight.
Tuchel has been always highly rated ever since taking over Dortmund after Klopp left. Conquering CL is not easy, especially with PSG is not easy because it's not like you can flip switch on for their players' motivation, and form for the occasions. Him getting them to CL final is proof of how good he is/ had become. PSG higher up has their own arrogant ideas and often seen clash with managers. The fan base doesn't have the power like Real Madrid or Barcelona to pressure the players. And some players are kinda bigger than the club (big trophies wise).
Chelsea board did build a coherent squad ready without the need for a rebuild. Lampard was just under qualified. Tuchel with all the know how, made it work.

true enough! I've just thrown the whole thread into a translator hahIt might be a bit like Barcelona at their prime. They had a very dominant style were the opposition wouldn't get a sniff of the ball then when they got ahead their style was very opresive for the team playing against them and trying to chase the score making them very vulnerable to receive more goals. So like I said they were very good and oppresive but when a team managed to score first and sit back they looked lost more often than not but it wasn't a very common situation to begin with so it should also be credited to Chelsea them not conceding goals and dominating the opposition like that.

Probably against city we will do that I mean possibly chasing the game. But we did that before against them. I am not sure it will be the same scenario against other teams.
We lost to arsenal and villa and also lecester in cup final last season after they first scored.But without mendy in those games though.
i don’t think we do have the right players to chase a game but that really should be an after thought anyway. No one plans to go behind. Our success is down to the strength of our midfield. The defense have rightly taken plaudits but the midfield do a phenomenal job of drawing opponents onto us and leaving space behind. Having the ability to play so confidently through the press is probably our most unique trait if you compare us to other teams.
You can be sure that Tuchel has a plan for his team in case they go behind. It is part of the teams confidence that they always know how to act and react in different situations, and that this is not only an after thought.
It's crazy how far we've progressed in that regard. Under Conte and especially Jose any form of organised high pressing had us tripping over ourselves.
Really interested to see what he does vs City. If I was him I’d be very tempted to stick Werner up with Lukaku and try to do them on the counter - that looked great towards the end of the Spurs game.
Question of who he sacrifices to do that though. Jorginho’s so great when you’re in a strong position of making it even stronger, Kovacic is in fine form and Kante’s basically a cheat code. Would have to be one of Mount/Havertz I think.

If Werner could come good it would be Werner Lukaku Havertz in the middle Kante Kovacic has been good, but Kante Jorginho is also good. Kovacic is the better dribbler and stronger in defense….most of the time. Jorgie has games he can be really great on defense.
Werners got the best movement out of any Chelsea attacker, I think he should be starting more often. Mount and Havertz have been very sloppy in their link up play. The link up play isn't quite there yet for them with Lukaku.

I'd imagine it will be the team that started the 2nd half against Spurs. He may swap Chilwell and James in to deal with their pace and obviously Mandy if he is fit.
Chelsea always seem to have a good hard working culture within the team, ever since the mourinho days, which helps managers have a high impact, while for PSG, most managers who were perceived to be great have looked ordinary.
He has always been one of the most rated mind in football. And overnight success at Chelsea is easy. We saw it many times with different coaches. The secret ? Good football management board. They have a system united from the scouts to the academy to the first team and stick with it, just like City or any other top teams.
United is a special case. We hired Van Gaal to teach players possession football then fired him and signed Jose to teach players anti-possession football. And you wonder why there's no chemistry in the team. We're a joke. I want Ole to succeed. Because if he were fired I can assure you our board will hire another coach with a completely different play style.
You talk as if Chelsea have not had different styles if coaching from Jose to Conte to Ancelotti to Tuchel now. It's got nothing to do with their structure.
Tuchel is just that good. Chelsea's board is also very demanding and the moment Tuchel struggles even the least bit, he will be out of the door. There is no room for sentiments there and it's paying them dividends.
I wish my boss was Thomas Tuchel. He's one of them people who look like Squidward but actually very nice and a great human being.
Interesting insight into Tuchel. Wonder how long he will last at Chelsea consider there is a large element of player power there. More LVG than a Klopp.
This hasn't been the case for a while - since the old guard of Terry / Lampard / Drogba / Cech moved on really.
Indeed, much of the team wasn't even there 2-3 years ago. Somehow I don't see Azpi and Kante leading a coup.
Indeed, only member of their squad that looks capable of pulling a coup is Rudiger.
I think Roman will give some leeway to tuchel as long as he produced results on the ground.
Since Cech appointed communication between board and manager should be more frequent.He is in middle to alter previous approach.Tuchel is in very good position and knew whom to communicate with present power structure.
What's disturbing for me was some rumour circulating during euros Frank and Cech didn't speak after he got sacked. Frank hold some grudge against Cech for his sacking.
Sad if it's true. Events since have shown that decision was entirely justified on sporting grounds.

It's disturbing because both were legends of our recent past and couldn't look into each other is some what awkward. Yes it was sporting decision and lampard struggled to get out of that slump but still i found that disturbing to say the least.
I know Werner didn’t really work out for you guys last season but I do think playing off Lukaku could really bring out the best of him. Just don’t think he was suited to the role he was asked to play last season - how he finished the last game was more like how he’d have been asked to play in the Bundesliga.
Yeah that wouldn’t surprise me at all. Though I’m not sure where Chilwell’s been or what’s going on there - would be a bit of a baptism of fire to throw him in here. From an outsider’s point of view it feels like Tuchel trusts Alonso enough if he has Rudiger in that LCB spot.
Alonso didn't look like struggling a bit and one of the top performers in all our matches. Why you need to replace him if he still perform good. Chilwell need to stake his claim. Simple as that.

Are Conte teams bad against opponents who press them high? That’s surprising and a little disappointing considering how he is undoubtedly one of the best coaches around.
Not bad in terms of losing, because Conte's team are quite successful.
But, very defensive sometimes in terms of actual style of play.
If we speak about Conte and Chelsea, you need to know that we needed a player of Hazard's class (and a cold blooded attacker in Diego Costa) to win the league. (we don't have a player like Hazard at the moment, and I could not see Conte winning the PL this Chelsea team).
What was more concering his defensive style was quite problematic in CL, when you have to take more risks as a team.
Him being quite risk averse held us a bit back in the CL, I felt.

Jokes aside, I can’t say I watched much of Chelsea under Conte. I recall the match against City in 17/18 which City won 1-0. I did think that Chelsea looked competitive and not particularly defensive until Morata went off injured (then again, my main benchmark was Mourinho’s United…).
i rate him very highly. I'm happy he is getting kudos after the disrespect PSG gave him because of Leonardo

While Conte would be a good manager for United, I think Ole is quite good already.
And to be honest, I am not sure that he would outperform Ole. (I find United is quite difficult to beat now, in that sense Ole's record is not to be underestimated.)
Yeah, Ole is doing well in several areas and is also getting decent/good results. I take your point and won’t turn this into a debate about Ole vs Conte.
Undoubtedly a very good manager and has moved Chelsea on significantly in the time he's been there. That said, I will say I'm not sure I'm fully convinced on their team's ability to win a league title, at least for this season anyway.
The league winning City and Liverpool teams of the last few years have demonstrated an almost machine like ruthlessness at various different points in a season that I'm yet to see from them yet... I'd put us in that same boat as well in fairness.
The EPL Christmas period for him will be interesting, arguably the most intense stretch of time for any manager in the top football leagues and will definitely test his evolution as a man. If he comes out the other side around the top of the table, Chelsea will have a real chance.

Nah it was a decision made by the board. Jorginho doesn't have enough sway to influence matters - we chose to back Conte over Diego Costa, for instance, who was a far better and more influential player.
Certainly there was an imbalance in terms of the power structure at the club but really since Marina has taken a more active role the hierarchy has been pretty well established. Tuchel has said how much he appreciates the clarity of the Chelsea set-up as well - his input is sought and considered but he knows he's a coach and not a manager, and by all accounts he prefers it that way.
He was for us especially in the second season, we struggled badly with Pochettino's Spurs especially and were always second best to them even when we won. Part of the reason I was patient with Sarri was because he improved that aspect of our game impressively quickly.
It may go a long way to explaining Conte's UCL record (where we were also outplayed by Roma under him) too.
It's something that has evolved over time. Nowadays although managers get asked for input, the club buy players that fit the overall style/direction they want. We don't have managers now able to bring in players just to fit their own personal playing style if that doesn't fit the club. It's why we can change managers so often without requiring major rebuilds each time.
Apparently Frank's man management was appalling which really shocked me because that's the one thing I thought we'd have no worries with him on.
If true I'm sure he could easily have that grudge against Cech too.
