Chelsea under Conte | Let's sign the next Hazard, literally.

Yesterday's result was more down to Conte's cowardice than Mourinho's genius. Conte should have given Ake the nod. I am beginning to think this lack of faith in the youth thing is more down to the club than the manager.
.

No it's all Jose's fault. Ake was having good season in PL, he was recalled. Chelsea fans defended this saying he is back up to Alonso, when Alonso was injured someone else played. Chelsea have wasted good half a season for Ake.

Like I said, Conte has very poor record at promoting young players.

Conte's record is pretty bad but at Juve he still played some u21 players. Jose is downright shit in this regard and now Conte seems to be falling to that level as well.

Apart from Pogba who were all these U21 players?

Conte's record makes Jose look like Van Gaal when it comes to playing young players.

Chelsea fan can delude themselves thinking Conte is someone who trusts young players and Jose isn't but the stats tell completely different story:

U21 players played by Jose and Conte (I haven't included players who played less than 100 mins, even then Jose played more young players)

Chelsea 2004-05:
Huth (19) - 851 mins
Johnson (19) - 1882 mins
Robben (20) - 1684 mins

2005-06:

Huth (20) - 914 mins

Cheers for the work done. However you are missing some players here n there like Chalobah and Kenedy for Chelsea. Some for Juve too and not to mention his Bari and Siena teams. Also you should discount most of Oscar's minutes there since he was 22 in september that season.

Overall I agree that both of them are poor and its fine margins regardless of who is worse.

Just to add Guardiola is equally bad.

I also didn't count Jose's record in Portuguese league. I was counting only record at big clubs and for some strange reason I excluded Madrid. Also I'm counting playes who were 21 at the start of the season, easy to pull the stats.

2010-11:
Canales (19) - 518 mins
Nacho (20) - 142 mins
Ozil (21) - 3845 mins

2011-12:
Varane (18) - 1220 mins

2012-13:
Jose Rodriguez (17) - 152 mins
Varane (19) - 2623 mins
Morata (19) - 580 mins

It's not fine margins, it's a massive difference. Like I said, Conte makes Jose look like Van Gaal when it comes to playing young players. Conte's record is piss poor, not that it's important at big clubs but for some reasons Chelsea fans were using that as a stick to beat Jose.

Edit: For Chelsea, Ake, Chalobah, Zouma are missed.

Did Juve have any really decent youngsters (genuine question, I don't know much about them at all)?

I don't know. Probably they didn't even sign any youngster like Jose did with Mikel, Kalou.

Again like Oscar, you added Ozil who was 22 for the entire season. Seriously fine margins here (in my view anyways).

Thats terribly short sighted. Did you not just witness three academy products played by Jose tear you apart Sunday?

EDIT. You've been proven wrong

Even if you ignore Ozil and Oscar there are plenty of other players, so no it's not fine margins.

well said mate! Jose definitely has changed. He is more open to change and bringing in academy players. He's an expert tactician and that was so apparent against Chelsea. Courtois would've made a difference but i think we had more shot on target and any which way would've got the lead. Conte's men were no where close to us on Sunday.

Chelsea didn't have a single shot on target mate. First time in 10 years. We could have give Big Dave the day off and played another forward.

Watches one game, makes a judgement and calls others shortsighted. OK Captain.

You have already been proven wrong.

Conte has promoted/played less youth players in his career than JM.

Its a fact so not sure what you're disputing?
Hasn't Mourinho been a manager for far longer?

Seems bizarre to compare them when Mourinho's managerial career goes back a lot further.

IT's fine though, it was Jose's mistake. You see how Conte will promote young players from academy.

Their youngest outfield player (regular player) is Kante, he is 26 years old.

Even d you ignore Jose, Conte has played only 1 U21 player regularly since his Juve days. That's Pogba.

Conte is going to probably win the double in his first season here. That's seriously impressive.

You deservedly won (and we were really rubbish that game) but 'tear apart' is pushing it a bit. It was 2-0 not 6-0.

You had zero shots on target. Something not witnessed in over a decade.

And your best player who scored and assisted from the bench today, was completely nullified.

You were rubbish because we man marked both Pedro and Hazard effectively, rendering them useless.

Rashford bullied your defence with help from Lingard's pressing.

It was one of the best tactical displays from any team that I've seen witnessed.

Ok then. :)

well..actually.....there is some truth to that...even if you can't say yourself. Mourinho studied you like mad...probably because he knows the players...and yes that was to his advantage and not for all managers you face. But fairs fair...we nullified you. Not that it would happen next time of course...just that time...!:smirk:

Jose played it really well, he's a master at it. Few people have more appreciation for that than Chelsea fans. Calling it "one of the best tactical displays from any team that I've seen witnessed" however just makes me think he hasn't watched a lot of Jose before.

I'm sorry, ZERO shots on target. Zero. None. Zilch. Nada. Infinite L's.

However, maybe you only watch Chelsea games and feel entitled.

I do mostly only watch Chelsea games. I'm not sure what it is i'm supposed to be feeling entitled about though. It was a classic Jose performance, and although it sucks seeing him doing it against us, I'll always have a soft spot for him and a rather grudging admiration for what he can do.

I just found your rather over the top claim a bit funny as I've seen him do that against much more dangerous teams than our current out of form lineup. He got us a win against City a few years ago when they were looking absolutely imperious that would definitely go above this one from a tactical masterclass point of view.

I have a dream that one day managers will not be judged by the numbers of youth they play but by the content of their cabinet trophy.

Nobody cares about youth that much, most successful managers have shit result with youth because they're not hired for romantism of youth.

Besides, playing average academy players that has no long term future ain't going to get you nowhere.

Would saf trust the class of 92 if they weren't so special? Would he axe ince he got cleverly instead of scholes?

Wobble your head mate. Theyre doing the double while were fighting for CL. Watch more games and youll see better tactical masterclasses. Youre completely ignoring the fact also that many in Chelsea squad were sick with a bug virus.

Im happy we beat them, but no point acting like a glorified c*nt toward Kentonio. They whooped us earlier in the league and knocked us out of the FA. Act a bit fecking gracious as a winner ffs.

Oh and also thanks for wasting my last daily post. Worth it.

You feeling sorry for yourself and playing down your own team isn't going to change my mind.

We don't score many goals and we regularly concede 1 silly goal every few games, so to restrict the league leaders, who could have wrapped up the title there and then, to zero shots and score twice is one of the best tactical displays I've seen. I gave us no chance before kickoff. It's huge turnaround from the 4-0 drubbing earlier in the season.

It might not rank highly for you personally, but I doubt I will see better at Old Trafford for quite sometime.

Slam yours in the car door, mate.

Chelsea could win a treble this season and it would still not change what happened in that one off game. Chelsea being sore losers in defeat doesn't change that. That's called a clever PR spin by their team.

He got as good as he got. Have some self respect for yourself.

How are we sore losers? You're embarrassing yourself with this sore winners attitude. Its like that was your cup final or something -- sheesh. We pretty much accepted last weeks defeat with dignity and kept it moving.
