Kick off: 16:30

Firmino missing for Liverpool.

Who will win?

You reckon? I think Chelsea are slight favourites.

Probably Liverpool but it doesn't mean much. Would mean more for Liverpool as they don't win many trophies.

It is a trophy. It is good to win it by beating a strong opponent as well. I can imagine both sides will field their strongest XI for the game.

Oof kick off is 12:30am here. Sounds dangerous to watch a bit before going to bed cos if it's a good start and I get drawn in I'm going to be fecked at work tomorrow.

It’s a trophy and it’s shiny. I want it and it’s the first one out of hopefully a few more.

Pool favourites for me but I think Chelsea will do them like they did City in the CL, defensive masterclass.

1-0 Chelsea

I reckon Kelleher starts but otherwise yes.

A cup final between a club owned by a billionaire and a club owned by a charity. A win for Chelsea is a win for the good of football.

Can someone explain why people slag off this trophy ….yet secretly at the same time want to win it?!!

Yep, this worries me. Chelsea are a club that knows how to win trophies even when not in the best of form. A loss today would hurt Liverpool fans (me) more than Chelsea fans.

After Shameless FC’s false Covid positive stunt to get over Arsenal in the semi-finals, I hope Chelsea dick them 5-0 today.

What a cretinous shower the Scousers are.

Couldn't care less.

I'll still watch the final mind you.

Or will I??!

Chelsea odds depend a lot on who starts. If Lukaku starts they've no chance. If Mendy starts as well as Lukaku being dropped, I think Liverpool are only slight favourites. If James starts with Mendy and Lukaku is dropped I favour them.

Hopefully it ends in a farce with everyone sent off and an investigation launched with both teams docked points

Same as the FA Cup and Europa League. Downplay your rivals acheivements that its not the league/CL because they are the only trophys worth winning these days apparently.

I would celebrate the hell out of the League Cup at the moment to be totally honest.

Don't care who wins the match but i hope the scousers give Chelsea, the establishment, and their Russian backed club plenty of grief.

Nah, you’ve got that wrong. Football’s a competitive sport so obviously football clubs and their fans want to win every single game of football they play and every competition they enter. We’ll celebrate every trophy we win like we celebrate every goal we score. But that’s a complete separate issue to the (lack of) status and prestige associated with winning trophies like this one.

If there’s any scenario today which results in both clubs being relegated to the conference and then going defunct, that’s the result I’m rooting for.

Because every club owned by a foreign national is also accountable to crimes committed in the owners home nation. Grow up.

Yes, because Pious Liverpool whose fans murdered 39 Juventus fans, are exactly the people we want leading the good fight.

I just think it's a unnecessary points scoring statement and says a lot more about you than the Liverpool fan base.

If we took your guidance no powerful country could say anything about anything.

Just pointing out that Liverpool are the last team that can lecture anyone on morality.

One of those lineups where I really dont want either to win. Picking the side of the devil no matter who I prefer.

Liverpool narrow win is the prediction

If there are red cards, those players will be unable to play 3 games in PL or next season Carabao Cup?
If PL, then I want three red cards for each team! Their best players of course!

I surveyed myself and found out that this competition’s importance peaked in 2002.

Despite winning both of the big two trophies in recent years, it’s not as if Liverpool have been serial trophy winners over the past decade and a half or so, so it’s definitely important for them.

Chelsea have lost their last 3 domestic cup finals I think, but the fact that they reach these finals so regularly (it’s their 6th consecutive final reaching a domestic cup final even without considering the European ones that they won) is very impressive.

One side is run by a charity. The other by a billionaire. If you want to root for the US billionaire team against a plucky team run by a charity, then it says more about you than anything else :D
