Chelsea vs Manchester United

Nope. It's on cable or satellite only. Fox Soccer Channel or Setanta Sports USA. They're not in the normal cable package. English pubs all over Florida showing it though.

thanks mate. I'll make the journey to the snook inn then.

I'm so excited about this, we need to all remember it is still a pre-season friendly so not take the result so seriously but it's a first real indication of how we're going to shape up for the rest of the season. I'm in agreement with most people about the line up. I'd like to see:

Foster
O'Steady Rio Evans Evra
Valencia Fletcher Carrick Nani
Berbatov Rooney

However i have a feeling Fergie will go with Kooshack (:)) rather than Fozzy.

Hopefully Owen will get half an hour too so we can see just how well he fits in in a right top class game.

Hour n half too go! :reallyfeckingexcitedsmiley:

Foster
Sheasy-Rio-Evans-Evra
Valencia-Fletcher-Carrick-Nani
Berbatov-Wayne

Off to watch the game now. I'd be very, very excited about the above team. There are a fair few in there with big motivation and points to prove.

FA Community Shield
9th August 2009, 15:00
Wembley Stadium, London

My United squad prediction:

Foster
O'Shea - Ferdinand - Evans - Evra
Valencia - Carrick - Fletcher - Nani
Rooney - Berbatov

Hmm I think Fergie might surprise us and play Owen instead of Berba.

I'm not that convinced with fletcher and carrick in the middle. Just think at the minute it's a bit bland.

----------Foster

O'shea--Rio--Evans--Evra

Valencia-Giggs -Fletcher--Nani

----Berbatov---Rooney

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict Gibson to start.

Gibson - Carrick - Fletcher

Valencia - Berbatov - Rooney

I know I would like to see Nani and Valencia on the wings but does anyone actually think ferguson will be so forward with his approach? I would love it but i can only see one of them two starting and park on the other wing.

The rest of the team picks itself really if we are going 442.

I reckon Fergie will go with

Foster
O'Shea Ferdinand Evans Evra
Fletcher Carrick Anderson
Valencia ------------- Rooney
Berba/Owen

though I'd like to see the same with Rooney more central.

The FM muppet in me would put out a team like this:

-------------------Foster---------------------
Oshe--------Rio--------------Evans---------Evra

---------------Carrick-------Fletcher-----------

Valencia------------Rooney----------------Nani

--------------------Berba---------------------

------------------Foster----------------
O'Shea--------Rio--------Evans------Evra
Park---------Carrick----Fletcher------Nani
------------Rooney-----Berbatov--------

Confirmed team.

Good team. I knew Park would start.

Nani and Rooney to shine today (I hope)

------------------Foster----------------
O'Shea--------Rio--------Evans------Evra
Park---------Carrick----Fletcher------Nani
------------Rooney-----Berbatov--------

Confirmed team.

Serious? I was looking forward to seeing Valencia but this team is still a very good one. I think this indicates that Berba and Rooney are going to be main choice this season. Let's hope they combine to devastating effect today.

Nani can look to shut a few people up today, I pray he takes this opportunity.

Park and Nani playing to seal that left wing slot. Hope Valencia isnt injured though.

I assume Valencia isn't playing because he's started pretty much every game since joining up with the squad. I assume he's first choice for next week so he gets a chance to sit back whilst Nani and Park fight it out for the other wing position.

Yep, the same I thought apart from Valencia, I thought he would have started on the right but I guess Park hasn't played much in pre-season so really I guess that's why Fergie opted for Park. I'm sure Valencia will appear at some point, maybe in the 2nd half if the Chelski defence tires, he'll tear them a new one. We might see Owen in the 2nd half too.

I was gonna say:

Chelsea:
------------Cech--------------
Boswinga--Alex--Terry--Cole
Ballack-----Essien-----Lampard
------------Deco-------------
-----Drogba-----Anelka-------

Utd:
------------Foster--------------
Fabio----Rio------Evans---Evra
Fletcher----Carrick-----Anderson
-----------Rooney------------
-----Owen-------Berbatov------

Think we might struggle in midfield with 4-4-2 against these.

------------------Foster----------------
O'Shea--------Rio--------Evans------Evra
Park---------Carrick----Fletcher------Nani
------------Rooney-----Berbatov--------

Confirmed team.

I reckon Nani'll be on the right and Park on the left, given how Nan's done on the right recently and Park being perfectly comfortable on the left.

I always though this game was a pain in the arse, you don't want to be playing a major rival with nothing really at stake, on the other hand you don't want to give away and psychological advantage. I suspect it will be uneventful with most likely a draw, Chelsea possibly just keener beacuse of Ancellotti.

That's how I'm seeing it, it's still only a bit more than a pre-season friendly, just used mainly for preparation, and Park is in need of the minutes more than most

We didn't struggle with Giggs and Fletcher against Chelsea's trio at Old Trafford last season. Realistically, neither team was ever going to lineup like that.

Big big opportunity for Foster.

Interesting lineup, i knew there was a surprise coming and it looks like Valencia will be used as a super sub in the second half (hopefully not injured). Chelsea/Ancelotti must have targeted him for special treatment seeing his great form in preseason, but he will come on and rip up a tired defence hopefully.

Valencia will definitely play a part in the second half I think, his pace will scare the life out of Chelsea's back four. It's true about Park, we have a big season coming up and he has not participated much in pre-season which makes sense. Owen is a possibility to come up but if Berba and Wayne are doing well I don't think he will be used.

I'm looking at Evans to produce the goods today as well. I was really impressed with him last season, specially the Chelsea home game at Old Trafford. He is a legend in the making and I hope he performs well with Rio today.

feck all width for Chelsea.
