Chelsea vs Manchester United

foster just needs to settle his nerves .. not too bothered
we do this a lot against chelsea .. start off really quick and slow down and try to sit back as the game goes on ..

guess it would be silly to attack a good team all the time
enjoyed it .. football is back
the result here doesnt really matter ..

A confident, tidy first half - it must be really pissing off the 'they can't possibly cope without Ronaldo' naysayers. The players look very up for the fight and the competition for places. SAF looks relaxed too, which is always good to see.

I think we were good. We started well and it was pretty evenly matched. We're not doing much from the right hand side though parks done ok.

Carrick and fletcher have done ok.

Let's not forget we're playing chelsea who are no mugs so all in all you have to be pleased.

Brilliant stream, completely flawless- cheers. Shame about your choice of half time entertainment though :nono:

brilliant game so far. Nani, Fletch and Evra have been very good. hope to see Valencia in the second half.

Ah Disturbed, now we're getting somewhere

Foster just like PIG lacks the proper arrogance and confidence to be United's nr 1 keeper.

not sure why Foster just stays rooted to his spot all the time. Anything in that 6 yard box should be his. He should be more commanding. He seems very nervous, even his kicking, usually his strong point, is off today.

That lad has not played in a competitive game like this in a long long time. Give him a break. Keepers just don't turn it on. He is playing with a new back line, they are all getting to know each other. The pace of the game is catching him by surprise. That is all. The worst we can do to the lad is go hard on him at this stage of his life. Shut up people.
His kicking has a problem when the ball is moving, he likes the ball study. The coaching staff should work with him on it. That is why he always wants to stop the ball before kicking, then when the attacker closes, people and the commentators are saying he looks nervous.

Nani has been good yet frustrating. Even when he's on form there's so many times where he can't let the ball go. Overall a good performance though, and Evra have been brilliant.

There is nothing to criticize Nani about, I guess people must find someone to criticize. If you want someone though, you might want to look at Park playing right wing, or even Berbatov, I had to see him at times to remember he was playing, oh and Carrick, Looks like Fletch has swallowed him.

Odd comment... he has given possession away needlessly many times. He has been better than usual and scored but far from perfect.

Rooney
Berbatov
Park
OShea
Foster

have all given the ball away at times. Why are you just picking on Nani?

Many times? Tell me a player out there who has not done that? Or Nani is viewed with a different standard? Enh??
How about Rooney? By that standard, then I lay into each of our players maybe except Rio.

Because Nani has the biggest point to prove. I said he has had a good game, definitely one of our best. That doesn't mean that criticizing him is unjustified. Strange how people have taken offense to this...

I agree its just nerves, but confidence is very important, and we cannot drop him, that will be devastating. I feel sorry for Tommy because he's not done much wrong and been the better keeper this preseason, but we need to give Foster a run of games, and if by the end of august, he's still not up to scratch, then we need to give Tomas his chance in goal.

As for kicking, Foster is normally very good. I am all for keepers stopping the ball (unless the pitch is absolutely sublime) because it avoids mishaps like Robinson and Foster have had. But if the strikers are nearby and the keeper does not have time to stop the ball, I think the defence should just boot it up themselves.

Its funny how often I've seen a defender (who has time to kick the ball upfield) pass it back only for the goalkeeper to kick it out into touch. Don't quite understand that. I'd only pass to the keeper if he can transfer the passage of play to the other side of the pitch or if the defender is being backed into a corner and has no other option.
