Form--------------Home-------------Away-------------last 6-----
Chelsea:-------L D W D W L-------D L L W W D ---L W W W L D
Man United: -W W W W W W------D W D W L W------W W W L W---

Today's result is certainly a confidence booster for this away game. Bring em on!

---------------VDS--------------
Rafael---Smalling--Vidic------Evra
Nani-----Carrick--Scholes----Giggs
-------Berbatov---Chicharito-----

Subs: PIG, O'Shea, Fabio, Fletcher, Gibson, Owen, Rooney.

Rafael---Smalling--Vidic------Evra
Nani-----Carrick--Scholes----Giggs
-------Berbatov---Chicharito-----

Subs: PIG, O'Shea, Fabio, Fletcher, Gibson, Owen, Rooney.

Agree with this, maybe see Rio returning but I hope we go 4-4-2.

Today was the most crucial game of the week. Win today and we can afford 2 draws in our next 2 games. A win on Tuesday and then Anfield will be relatively pressure free.

As good as this looks, we have next to no chance of a 4-4-2. I fully expect Fletch to be in the middle 3, so Chico has to go back to the bench :( Hope Berba starts.

I know Rooney eventually got a goal today, but I think Chicharito fully deserves to start the match. He's our second highest goalscorer, and he has scored goals away from home this season, plus he's already scored against Chelsea so the occasion won't affect the lad.

I want

------------VDS-----------
Rafael---Smalling---Vidic---Evra
---Fletcher--Carrick--Scholes
Nani-----Chicharito----Rooney

I expect
------------VDS-----------
O'Shea---Rio---Vidic---Evra
---Fletcher--Carrick--Gibson
Nani-----Berbatov----Rooney

van der Sar

Rafael
Ferdinand
Vidic
Evra

Nani
Fletcher
Carrick
Giggs

Rooney
Berbatov

SUBS: Kuszczak, Smalling, Fabio, Scholes, Gibson, Owen, Hernandez.

However, Fergie taking Scholes off against Wigan does make me think that he could start.

O'Shea has strung 4 good performances together in a row and still people would rather he was dropped.

---------------VDS--------------
Rafael---Smalling--Vidic------Evra
Nani-----Carrick--Scholes----Giggs
-------Berbatov---Chicharito-----

Subs: PIG, O'Shea, Fabio, Fletcher, Gibson, Owen, Rooney.

Looks good.

-----Nani--Berbatov--Rooney

When is Giggs back, what happened with O'shea at the end of the Wigan game, and what's the likely-hood of a Rio return?

Nothing to do with the fact he left the pitch today barely able to put any pressure on his right leg...

At the end of the day, O'Shea or Rafael, I have confidence in both.

I'd go with this and leave Chicharito (even though he deserves to start) and Giggs on the bench for Plan B.

Yes, or...

If Rio is back then start with Rafael, otherwise leave Sheasy on for experience at the side of Smalling.

O'shea limped off at the end. I'm not sure what exactly that was, but seeing as the games only 3 days away I assume O'shea will be rested and the pressure will be on Rio to be fit.

I presume you're talking to me there? Did he get injured?

I didn't notice the injury but only really watched up to the 70th minute without interuption then I was back at work.

I'm surprised by the number of people here who want Rooney on the left.

Where else is he going to play? He will start. I think most of those line ups are what people think will happen, not what they want to happen.

Looked like an impact injury to me, I'd expect him to walk something like that off, but if he is going to miss the game then yea you'd have to hope Rio is fit.

Really? I've always thought the lineups in matchday threads are what people would like to see. If they post what they think will happen, they will usually indicate it.

I mean, look at MUFCgal's shout. There is no way in hell Sir Alex will go 4-4-2 away from home but I think most people here would like to see it come to fruition.

I wouldn't, playing 4-4-2 away against Chelsea is a terrible shout, can't see why anyone would want that.

Ahh right, I don't usually participate in these threads. The ones I have stated are what I think will be how we start, and what I want too, actually.

Rafael - Smalling - Vidic - Evra

Fletcher - Carrick - Scholes - Nani

Berbatov - Rooney

I like this...

I like this...

I think it's the only good team that playing 442 against would be a decent shout.

If we go to the bridge and take them on in a 442 then I think we could batter them. If we go in all cautious I think it's got draw written all over it.

It could result in a battering, but playing carrick and Fletcher against Ramiers Essien and Lampard away from home is a bit risky for me. If we match them we have better quality over the pitch and more defensive protection (Torres has to hit some form eventually.)

That's what I was thinking, and that's why I picked a 4-4-2. I think if we really go for the throat in an attacking 4-4-2, we could really do them.

Indeed. We won't though and we'll draw.

0-0.

Ah feck!!!!

One of the biggest ganes of the season and I'm going to miss it. I might even skip training just to watch it.
