Chelsea vs. Manchester United

Lindegaard was available for us in the delayed match against Burnley when he wasn't eligible for the original. Such a rule exists in the FA Cup if memory serves me, but not the Premier League.

I'm liking this 'league tied' idea, and it's even funnier that it's getting some support on here just because it means Torres might have to sit this one out.

A big ask for a tired United tonight.

Chelsea fresh and home...

I hope we score the winner from a dodgy free kick with a foul in the box leading to a Berbatov offside goal, just to go some way to make up for the terrible refereeing decisions that cost us twice against them last season.

What I like most is that some people are sitting at home, scratching their chins saying 'Yeah, he does have a point'. No he fecking doesn't, you lunatics.

There's nothing in the rules that says players play a minimum or maximum number of games. That only applies to teams who have a rigid schedule. Ffs, the loan system already allows for this 'injustice'.

The Caf is mental. Like Charlie Sheen mental.

Yeah, that's how I see it. This is the sort of game that suits them in a way because they'll really want to influence the title race.

I think Chelsea will probably sneak it.

Well the fixture we are talking about (United vs Chelsea - 19 Dec. 2010) is a delayed game.
The same day, many games got postponed because of the snow.

Liverpool played (with Torres) that postponed game on 26th Jan. 2011.

If Torres plays again today, he would have played twice for the same journey.
Before, it was not allowed, but maybe rules have changed, as nobody is raising the point?

Excellent point!

I wonder if the FA have been asked to comment?

Yeah true, was gutted when I realised Chelsea had the weekend off due to Birmingham's cup final, and it does put us at a disadvantage.

United are surely on a high after such a big away win at Wigan though, as well as the good news about Rooney. Given a fair crack of the whip from the ref (something he didn't afford us last season, mind), I'm confident we won't lose tonight.

This is normally our hardest fixture of the season.

A draw would be fine, that's for sure.

Yeah, we're due a slice of luck against the cnuts, after the travesty in the same fixture last season.

Been a while since we got an undeserved victory, totally against the run of play. I reckon we're due an O'Shea miskicked 90th minute winner, flying in off Terry's arse, after being dominated by Chelsea for the previous 89 minutes.

I hope we score early through an undeserved penalty that gets one of their players sent off, but it cannot be Terry. Hope another player gets sent off before the break undeservedly too and they end up losing 4-0, our second coming from an offside position.

OptaJoe

24% - Nearly one quarter of the goals Man Utd have conceded this season have come from corners, the highest % in the PL. Flaw.

That stat tells me we miss Rio.

I get the feeling this will either go really well or really poorly.

On a side note, as per Chappers podcast yesterday (what a fecking shit nickname hey) unless we can do better than 3 wins and 2 draws in our remaining away games (Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, West Ham, Blackburn) if we win the league we'll have the worst away record of a Premier League side to do so.

Yep. Which is weird as you'd hardly call him dominant in the air. There's a lot to be said for organisation and being in the position to make a challenge, even if you don't win the ball cleanly.

Jesus, that percentage is high, nearly a quarter of our goals conceaded are from feckin corners.

I have been in a state of fear at times this season when we have conceaded a corner, especially against Blackpool. Chelsea have some good headers of the ball, so we would want to get it together for tonight.

You missed out Arsenal mate.

It wouldn't make up for it. They won't win the league this season no matter the outcome of this match.

Not feeling confident ahead of this one. I hate it when we meet teams that have had a week off while we've played a couple days ago. It's a big disadvantage.
That coupled with them being at home, us missing Rio and Giggs only just coming back does not exactly inspire confidence.

I just want it to be done with, to be honest. Hate it when I'm more nervous than excited ahead of a match.

Don't forget Atkinson, Top, he's a big factor in my declining confidence ahead of this one.

Same, just like a late round champions league game.

I know the feeling, I have a bad bad feeling about tonight and am actually dreading watching the game :nervous:

Got draw written all over it.....But am hopeful we will nick it... In fact we will nick it by the odd goal

I can see one or two people rested as Fergie played a strong team both in France and against Wigan. Or well, do we have enough people fit to rest anyone even if he would like to freshen it up? I'm not sure.

Just hope those who make their third game in 6 days won't get any injury as might happen easier when playing so often. We really don't need more worries.

I´m very confident about this game, i´ve just a sneaky feeling we`re winning this one.

You know what, me too! I was worried at first, but the more I thought about it the less worried I am. I don't know why most United fans are worried, it should be the opposite way round, admittedly we haven't been in sparkling form but Chelsea have been very poor of late and it’s a great opportunity for us to get something from the Bridge.

I can see us nicking it 2-1 tonight, a cheeky late goal from Little Pea and I have a feeling Nemanja might have a say in this match after all the hype surrounding him and Torres.

Living with a Chelsea fan I'm pretty sick of our lack of results at "The Bridge".

2-1 United win with Hernandez scoring any time would be nice too considering I got 25/1 on it this morning :D

1 hour 17 minutes til I finish work. As soon as I get home I'm opening my first beer and ordering a pizza, I love midweek football.

Hernandez last scorer, United to win 2-1 @ 145-1

I'm kind of hoping he's on the bench!
