You rarely retain possession by passing to the keeper, most often the keep just boots it upfield and with the squad of short players we have upfront, there is no gurantee that we will get the ball back. What Carrick did was pass the buck, did not want to be held responsible and nearly became a cluster feck.

You can, the ball keeper and center backs all the time, VDS seeing that a ball into midfield wasn't on should've put his foot through it this time
