Not hard really , he has been injured for a few weeks and it not fit, you dont start am unfit player in a Final.
Good to have on the bench for the last 15-20 mins.

Even if he does, how many of us here trust Jones/Smalling to keep things tidy at the back. Our best CB is on the bench because Jose is still hoping to Southgate would smuggle Smalling to the WC.

Jose’s decision-making can be daft.

What has the World Cup got to do with it? Smalling has been our first choice central defender all season (bar the first couple of weeks). The only question was who would his partner be, and Jones has been better than Bailly both all season and recently.

Especially with Giroud against us, Bailly's weakness in the air could really cost us. Jones isn't great in that regard either, but he's still comfortably our second best behind Smalling.
