Chicago Fire v Manchester United - Pre-season friendly

Good save, Favid! Or even 'David'. Curse this Aldi keyboard!

What's Paddy Cerrand blabbing about? "He's saved it with his feet, reaction save, but it doesn't matter. Doesn't matter if you save with feet, doesn't matter."

Quality save by De Gea f'n lucky to go in only 1-0 at HT. Poor finishing has put us under the cosh. Balls!

Looked like Gibbs was trying to swap shirts with Berba then

Heat obviously getting to our players, pretty sure we'll see a host of changes at the break.

De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Welbeck, Diouf and Cleverley off.

Lindegaard, Ferdinand, Vidic, Young, Anderson and Rooney on.

Then Fabio, Carrick, Berbatov and Obertan off later in the half, with Rafael, Giggs, Owen and Park on.

Tbat's my guess but what do I know?

De Gea pulls of a save.Wholesale changes expected not surprised in this heat.

Looks like a combination of severe heat and lack of fitness. Some of the lads look a bit off the pace, but it's been a good workout so far, and a bit of disappointment will do them no harm, just makes them a bit more determined for the next game.

Wholesale changes expected at half time, so hopefully a change for the better.
Need a good positive start and take it from there.

HT
looks really hot.. decent interplay. Lazy defending but not bothered as its a back5 that havent played together

Terrible heat and terrible pitch makes for a terrible performance.

That being said, at least Welbeck managed to make the best of it.

With some of the defending today, DDG must be thinking he's still at Atletico Madrid.

Sign Papa.

Nani, Bebe, Mame, Papa.

There's been some lovely passing and build-up, and also some mis-timed and over-hit passes. Doing not too bad but not able to create a goal yet. Not too concerned as this is the first game of the pre-season for 4 players, plus 2 are on debut, and the rest of the team is quite inexperienced in general.

Welbeck has been the best player so far, Cleverley will be a bit disappointed with himself but did manage to dink a lovely little pass towards the end of the half.

Not to mention the weather, and the billboard saying AthleticCO at the side. :smirk:

That 'managers press conference' ad on MUTV makes Fergie look scary

We did ok. People should remember its pre season and for some their first game of pre season

The pitch is atrocious.

What the feck is Fergie doing sitting in direct sunlight? Poor cnut is gonna get heatstroke. Far too old for that shit. How they can they build a stadium in that climate without any shade for the bench?

Why Pogue? Because American football is played from September to January when temperatures are below freezing.

Watching our performance v Fire... I can say Chelsea have just won the league.

It's an NFL stadium. Would require a massive roof to give shade to the whole bench.

Thought Welbeck looked very good in the first half. Good link-up play and got into some decent positions too.

I really get tired of punditry sometimes, especially here. Macari constantly points out the obvious. They don't half chat some boring shite to fill the gap.

De Gea: Probably should've gone out for that cross. Been steady otherwise. Shows better distribution than Lindegaard.

Back four have all looked a bit poor at times. Evra not working well with The One.

Obertan: Had one good moment where he ran straight at a defender who did nothing at all. Looked uniformly bad the rest of the game.

Diouf: Has ranged from "bad" to "invisible"

Carrick: Solid

Cleverley: Has had moments of brilliants and moments of anti-brilliance.

Welbeck: Has looked the best player on the pitch.

Berbatov: Very good off-the-ball movement, but the finishing hasn't been there.
