CL 14/15 Group Stage Matchday 4 - October 4th/5th

Italian football is really bad these days. It's great for Portuguese football though.

It will be hard to mantain that 4th place but it's an amazing achievement if we consider the country's limitations. We may not have as much money as other top leagues but the work done by the top clubs professional football structures is very good. Specially Porto and Benfica. But with our new president we are getting there too.

That needs to be done

something like this?

Portugal has surpassed Italy in the uefa ranking and are now 4th  Impressive for a small nation
Wont last long, It's Portugals last year for them using the 2011 season when they raked up 18k points, they average a fair amount below italy in all the other years.

I already admited that in my next post. Still it's a praisable achievement surpassing them even if we don't hold it in the near future.

Ye the Europa League has been very successful for Portugal in the last couple of years, The Portugese teams are stuck in limbo i feel, not quite good enough for the CL but almost too good for the EL. With a bit more money they could maybe upset a big team or two in the knockout rounds of the CL.

I agree. The results in the EL have been very good. In the CL not so much. In the EL (in the last years) Porto has won it once, Benfica got into the final twice and Sporting into the semi's after eliminating Man City.
Portuguese football will have to find alternatives to funds since FIFA is about to end them. My club mostly relies on the Academy to get players for our team but Porto and Benfica do alot of deals with funds, so they will have to find alternatives. It will be hard to continue the money ball strategy without that investment. It will be better for the academies though.
