It feels like he’s realised he made a mistake here and is keen to exit to allow him to be free to take another job in the summer. Hard to see him staying at Spurs long.
I think it's more to do with the type of player brought, Spurs fans may be more knowledgeable than me but it was of my knowledge that Conte wanted Wing backs and a CB in Jan and ended up with a cm and an attacking mid on loan. Levy having just recently brought wingbacks and a CB doesn't want to change them. There's definitely something deeper going on between the board and Conte.

I'm definitely in the minority here I think but I kind of admire that honesty. Instead of blustering BS and 'we go again' he seems to be being honest about the problems within the club and his own ability to take the club forward. A bit like Jose (or prime Jose at least) he's a ridiculously demanding and emotional guy who probably gets frustrated when he feels he's not supported or if he can't perform to the highest standard. He knows he made a mistake going there and is being honest about it.
Which may seem like a better window for you. But for Conte ?
Agree, I respect it too. Lots of people would limber on until they are sacked for the pay cheque. Fair play for respecting his employers and the club. A rare bit of honesty and integrity in modern football.

Bentancur replaced 2 players (Lo Celso and Ndombélé). But you can consider it an upgrade quality-wise. Even though Bentancur is not “PL-proven” and has been pretty underwhelming over the last 18 months at Juventus. Kulusevski is definitely a long term gamble. And I like him and believe in him very much but he is nowhere near the end product.
The real weakness was the right side and he wanted Adama to fix that. It was an easy fix and it is a big deal for him that they didn’t get it over the line.
They were never getting Traore once Barca were involved. Play for Spurs or Barca? Tough choice that one. As for Bentancur, it will take him a couple of months to get up to the speed of the game, but even a player who is not up to the speed of the PL is still probably better than Winks. They have two very workmanlike players in midfield in Hojbjerg and Skipp, I think they need Bentancur to add something different.
The nonsense notion that Conte hasn’t been backed is laughable. He got two players that were available in January, and he should be thankful he got them. No one was throwing money around and players weren’t available. Fecking hell, Ralf got no one and neither did most clubs. How many other managers have threatened to walk? Some people in here are massively confusing what a winner looks like and what a toxic egomaniac looks like.

They got rid of expensive players and replaced them adequately. The quality of the team might seem better but saying he was backed suggests something else. He definitely wasn't backed nearly enough to make a piss poor Tottenham capable of seriously challenging for the fourth spot. They only stand a chance if both Arsenal and United keep joking around and wasting easy points.
But January window is about fixing the issues. They did not. The biggest issue Spurs have is right-wing. They have 2 players who barely have championship level. Conte identified this very quickly as the absolute priority. And he didn't ask for a Hakimi or a Trent. He asked for f*** Adama. And Adama wanted to join them. It could have been done in the first week of january. But the board kept negotiating and hoping that Wolves would lower their price. Which ended up allowing Barça to get involved.
Maybe Levy and Paratici didn't want Adama at all. Maybe they think their asset Emerson needs the time to develop and it is worth sacrificing the rest of this season.

Royal is rubbish, in the games I have watched of Spurs I have never seen him beat a man once. Which is fine if he was amazing defensively, which he is not. This is a spurs team that has had a pathetic level of investment in recent years, and when levy has decided to invest it has been poorly directed e.g. ndombele. Getting two Juve rejects doesn't correct that.
Your comparison doesn't make sense because conte clearly would have been assured by levy their would be significant investment in the squad for him to join spurs. He was the best manager of the market when he joined spurs, in comparison ralf was in no position to extract guarantees from the glazers because his management record doesn't really warrant being at the club
Spurs will be blamed for that but frankly, that's on Conte. It's not like Spurs have pretended to be big spenders in recent years. If Conte is surprised by this, its his fault.
The initial argument wasn't even about poch last season, you used the worse period in his tenure, just to try and justify your argument. Even then, spurs was like 6 points or 9 points behind fourth. If Arsenal wins the remaining game in hands, spurs will be much worse of behind fourth than poch worse spell. To even use that spell shows how desperate you are, when the argument was never about that time of his career. Reality is things aren't good at spurs now and your desperate attempt to justify it is really embarrassing
