Cop in America doing a bad job, again

Longer video.

Exactly what I suspected. No reason to be putting your whole bodyweight on his back when he is no longer resistant and is restrained. Get him in the recovery position (on his side) or put him in your patrol car. If he's no longer breathing/talking, then check for a pulse or something!

Its Dallas police, not some hick town. Their training surely covers that kind of restraint. What must his family think of those officers taking the piss as the man dies under them?

I haven't checked this thread in awhile. But it's thoroughly disgusting. Police have a licence to kill and be racist.

Makes you geniunely uneasy watching this. Law enforcement is so fecked up in America. The ridiculous gun laws don't help I guess because everyone you arrest as a police officer could potentially be carrying a gun. Add some subconcious bias about certain people (or even overt racism for that matter) and you end up with images like above.

Just pointing a gun at all is outrageous. For speeding.

The behavior of those cops especially the "backup" is absurd. But that guy is freaking lucky he didn't get shot. Too much righteousness and not enough awareness of the reality.

I've made a similar mistake when I was a teenager when a police tried to handcuff for no stated reason and I pulled out of it but the second that gun comes out (turns out they thought I was "smuggling illegals in my trunk") you have to absolutely do everything they say even if its total bullshit. Not worth losing your damn life over pride.

Everything about America is fecked up but especially the policing.

I'm glad every day that I'm not American and black (only that combination, not individually and only because of this) because I'd be dead for doing absolutely nothing and asking why I'm getting pulled over and arrested.

And yet when they get the chance to speak up about it they're quashed by even more force and told racism doesn't exist.

And that's besides the video of the mentally ill white guy getting killed which is grim beyond belief.

There should be a massive database website of all of these incidents where people can submit videos and links to Twitter and Youtube so that all those having a go at Kaepernick and screaming 'blue lives matter' can see the sheer scale of the problem. Not that it'll do anything to change their indoctrinated minds but it might just make people realise just how fecked this is.

Surely mounted cops have a proper way of moving a perp, or I suspect they would usually wait for a car or van if they have someone in cuffs?

The gun issue most certainly feeds into the escalation of situations. Tensions are already higher and the police are hypervigilant as it is.

In almost every video you see of American police have their hands on their guns whilst walking up to cars. That would just never happen in other countries.

I've heard from Senior Police officers here in Melbourne that have been on the job for decades, and have had to draw their gun twice in their lifetimes.

In fact statistically police officers are 8 times more likely to have to jump into a body of water to rescue someone then draw their gun. Let alone actually use it.

Exactly. You can't tell me that they weren't aware of how that would look.

I wish Dumbat12 wasn’t banned. I know he probably would’ve produced an absolute gem trying to explain why that picture of the black man on the leash isn’t that bad.

“Men have been kept on leashes throughout history, you’re the racist for noticing he happens to be black.”

Arrest that bird! High on coke it is.

Seriously, are the field tests that unreliable or is it a case of the cops “misinterpreting” the field tests?

This is who police are. It's not a bad apple situation.

Fecking hell, guy was fired for falsifying police reports, but still heads the St. Louis White(!) police officers association, because apparently it's still 1950 there

Have any of our American posters experienced this kind of stuff first hand, or has anyone they know been affected?
