I’ve been a United fan long enough to have wrote a composition about Bobby Charlton at Junior school. I don’t want Liverpool winning titles, not because I hate them (it’s a game) but because they’re only two behind us. However if the season can’t finish it would be unjust in my opinion if they’re not named Champions (asterisk, honourary, whatever) Imagine us in the same position being denied it. As far as relegation goes it’s a difficult situation, there’s that much money involved now. I believe a lower league team has been denied promotion having been mathmatically certain of it. That is unjust, not their fault.

Let the clubs have a vote on whether to have a transfer window. Everyone involved needs to understand that we are going through something extraordinary and compromises need to be made. If contracts run out, then so be it. Clubs and players can look at making the same loans next year. If Sheff Utd and Wolves know we might have Sancho for the remaining fixtures, they can also strengthen themselves accordingly. Everyone would be handed the same set of rules. I see the transfer window/contracts issue as something much easier to deal with than the potential feck-up of the football calendar for years.
With the Qatar world cup and I'm guessing a flexible Euro's date that wouldn't actually be as bad as usual
We could inadvertently end up with ending the season after next right before the winter world cup, then after that slowly work on getting the dates back to the usual August-May.
Big problem will be the contracts though, they will need sorting/redefining somehow.

I said it when FA announced that the games would be going ahead as planned, with crowds, that it was likely players were already infected and it only be a matter of time until it would be public information and playing behind lock doors wouldn't even be possible. Less than 24 hours and the league was put on hold.
This whole "finish the remaining 9-10 games in an empty stadium" is unrealistic. If resuming in August is very much possible, then it's going to be the 20/21 season due to the financial implications if they don't uphold their TV deals.
A restart doesn't have to fail, it just has to be obvious that a possible restart is far ahead and that it's meaningless to finish a season, just to finish it, after it's been put on hold for what, a minimum of 6 months ? 7 months ? which would include a transfer window and contracts expiring. Listen, we are heading into April and realistically have until July to find a way for this season to start again. April to July is 3 months.. 3 months!!! That's an eternity. You guys are all assuming the US is not going to come up with a breakthrough in the science and research to figure this virus out.
There is also 750 million pounds on the table and so do you honestly think these clubs are willing to lose that? The only way this doesn't happen is if the players themselves (PFA) decides it's not safe enough.

Social distancing is kind of working, but it took 3 days for people to take it serious. Out of a week into it. I’m telling you now if this thing carried on another 4 weeks social distancing will start to be ignored by the public and we will see a rise again.
The PL will leave it as late as possible to decide I will admit, because of the penalties. At some point though you have to void it and hope you can play more than 30% of next season. Italy and Spain are at some point going to void their leagues I feel. More clubs are coming around to it

Also the vaccine isn't coming by July. Educate yourself on how long it takes for a vaccine to develop. Even if we develop one fit for purpose by this time next year, it'll be the fastest vaccine ever developed if I recall correctly.

I’m a contractor and the company I was doing work for literally just mothballed itself. They have one staff member answering calls basically saying “nothing doing”. They don’t think they will open in 3 months. 20% of people went within the week.

The UK death rate seems to be much lower than Italy. When did I say anything about a vaccine? A breakthrough can come in the method of actually treating it. There were early signs of chloroquine helping with it, granted that has not been confirmed - it does show that the medical community is looking at ways to treat it. Zuckerberg and Bill Gates have teamed up to come up with a solution. I know exactly how long vaccines take and I know that would take at least a year but at least they will find ways to reduce symptoms + decrease the mortality rate.

July? We'll be lucky if the football season starts again at all in 2020. What we'll see happen, probably fairly soon really, is that the big European football leagues will all agree amongst themselves to cancel every league season. It's the only way to go from here. A strong, unified decision and a clean slate when things eventually get going again. It's not going to be popular with everybody but given the circumstances, there won't be great appetite from many clubs to make a huge fuss over it. TV Deals, Sponsorships, Wages, all these issues will be solved by compromise. Everybody is compromising with finances these days, football will be no different.

Most of non-league football has been abandoned by the FA. Suffice to say, the clubs aren't very happy about it. Personally, whilst they might end up having to abandon it, it's too soon to make that decision.
