You’re right: this was a bad, heavy-handed way to make a point, and I apologise for not wording it more sensitively. I was citing the final as a regrettable whole, though, without taking sides, which was meant to be made clear by using its official title; causal blame lies with the hooligans, and hooligans are never a reflection of the clubs they purport to support. The wrong in retrospect decision to kick-off was what I was trying to spotlight, but the accusatory tone I used was over-egging it, and I'm sorry about that.
It's looking very unlikely the season can be completed in the summer. Based on the current modelling the government are using to set strategy, the the full quarantine measures will be in place from April to September with a second wave in winter those quarantine measures are lifted immediately.
The Premier League and clubs should be thinking about how to salvage next season instead of worrying about completing this one. The circumstances are extraordinary enough that this season can be considered null and void. The wider implication on broadcasting contracts and financial solvency of clubs is the far more pressing issue than league standings. This economic shock won't just affect clubs in the low-tiers of football, even the big clubs are in danger of not being able to meet their financial obligations if broadcasting revenues are cut alongside the loss of match-day revenues.

It's all gonna get rather confusing when the Summer transfer window is moved back(as it will have to be) to October/November 2020, and then the Winter transfer window moved back to April/May 2021.
This might be an opportunity with all the disruption to move football over as a summer sport from Feb - Nov. Particularly as soon after the leagues are going to be disrupted by the Qatar world cup.

There's no way Liverpool should be handed the title. The only way I can see this being resolved is for the season to be considered null and void, it will be crap for us as well because we were still in the hunt for top 4 and going for 2 major trophies. But what can we do, I can't see how anybody would want to win a title like this but I suppose Liverpool are so desperate for a league title they'd take one by any means possible.
If the PL are gonna lose £750 million you can be fecking certain this season is getting finished. They will not let that amount of money go even if it means people will die. Money-hungry cnuts.

If they don't complete contract by 31 July Sky/BT should give some money to the lower leagues. Forget that, even if they do, a lot of this money should go to the lower leagues instead of the PL clubs who need it less. Be a nice gesture to save the small clubs. Obviously both will do the opposite & let them collapse.

Wouldn't say so. They purchase the broadcasting rights to gain viewership in order to increase the scope of ads. This has all happened.

I watched Heysel unfold on live TV as a youngster as well (as you'll know, distressing scenes went out live on the night which, even if archived, will probably never be shown again. Certainly the few features about the tragedy I've seen on YouTube haven't - thankfully - included these; what they show is numbing enough) and it left a deep and lasting mark that Hillsborough and Bradford, in every way as horrific of course, didn’t, since I witnessed neither of those unfolding as they happened.
I am Villa, but that needs to be qualified: when you join RedCafe there's the space to put down the club you favour, which then apparently becomes permanent (unless you request if it can be modified), and I'm more Villa by default than design - born in the area, with all of my mother's family following Villa. Apart from a couple of games, all my live football watching has been done at Villa Park, and they're the team I feel connected to, but I've long since stopped going to games, and don't suffer enough when they're being put through the ringer to call myself a fan in the proper sense. I haven't really felt out Villa fans' feelings on the current situation (some higher force had deemed it necessary that I work alongside Wolves and Baggies fans in day-to-day life, and - whisper it - VillaTalk isn't a patch on this forum for wide-ranging and developed discussion and debate, so I mainly come in here). There's bound to be a range of takes among them - with a lot hoping for 'passive' voiding, I'd imagine. Being the only team in the bottom half with a game in hand would be a point of contention.

How can the expect palace to complete the season without their manager who will be stuck in his house ? The league should of been voided by now it's clear to see there is no way around this. We will be lucky to see the start of next season.

Bring up Leeds, West Brom. Have the other four do their playoff somehow some way(empty stadium,indoors,whatever). Give the title to the obvious champions -Liverpool. Play next season with a shorter schedule and 23 teams. At the end of next season 6 go down. 3 come up.
The worst part is not knowing when we're going to see football again. It could be anywhere from a few weeks to upwards of a year, or longer still.
God knows what we'll resort to doing for entertainment in the meantime.

As many United fans have said, the ideal is to try and see if by the end of May we can start up football again, if we can we start again June 1st and finish Mid July. However this is looking increasingly unlikely, nothing is likely to be sorted by July. There is no way they will feck up next season as well as this, the FA will have to void the league. Its hit for Liverpool, Leeds, Leicester, United, but better for most other clubs.
