Could they void the PL due to the Coronavirus? | No | Resuming June 17th

Well. Well. Well.

So the FA have came to the same logical conclusion that I have. The only option in regards to resolving this season is to finish it at some point.

Any of the fans on here who've been saying otherwise for the past week care to say anything now?

This applies to the football league as well, so its not just aimed at helping Liverpool win the title. Its the only logical option.

I genuinely can't believe the bitterness and small time behavior on here over the past week or so. I've grown up watching brilliant United teams win the treble in 99, and an incredible team in 08/09. These teams were built by an excellent manager and a combination of youth team players and great signings mixed together to form a world class outfit, all done without billions of oil money, and yet here we are with United fans desperately hoping that the league is voided to deny a team built in the same way as yours were a deserved title. Come on United fans, don't lower yourselves to Everton/City type bitterness.

 are you watching Borris on TV right now? Which would you believe here..

You need a hand getting off that horse of yours?

Fecking hell.

The lead scientist just said there is a mountain of evidence to suggest people are taking advice at the moment.
I'd love to see it because all I have seen is people ignoring advice and going about their lives as normal.

Mr Logical Know-it-all is amongst us. :D

You may like to know that many of us United fans want the Season to finish because our team is still involved in CL places and also 2 trophies.
But there is no logic in trying to squeeze in football before another season starts and when the pandemic will surely still be around.
Also players are no clockwork toys we can wind and unwind at the pleasure of the FA and others who ONLY see their 30 year wait finally fulfilled.
Klopp himself wanted the Winter break but then his 'invincibles' disintegrated.

Null and Void is the only decent feasible and logical option, although it will hurt us too, first and foremost for the good of human lives.

 are you watching Borris on TV right now? Which would you believe here..

I am. There will be a very long delay before the league can resume, could be 6 to 9 months in my opinion but the key point is it must resume before we can start a new season.

The "look at me, I was right" attitude is not really called for. We get your point but nobody knows how this will develope and when we will come out the other side, that includes the PL. Also, few if anyone here is saying that Liverpool don't deserve to be Champions, but the practicalities of finishing the season are complex. An indefinite end date is a huge legal and contractual challenge.

That's bullshit the Premier league has to fall in line with other leagues in Europe to some degree.

What?! Continue this league in 6 to 9 months time?!
Scouse logic at it's best or rather worst. :D

I think the PL will postpone as much as possible until multiple other leagues decide to inevitably cancel their seasons (Spain & Italy) then they will say "we tried" and point to those other countries and cancel the PL.

We are a bitter bunch of bastards putting peoples lives ahead of Liverpool winning a football competition.

I am not putting human lives ahead of anything. Its a subject that is most poignant to both our clubs. We must do everything we can to try and stop this awful virus.

Football is secondary until this has all been resolved, but once it has we must finish what has been started, There is no point starting a new season if you haven't finished the previous one?

Now i would like the season to continue, but this opinion below is fecking stupid:

How the feck can you think it's ok to go into "September, October, whenever" :wenger:

For this to happen, all teams in Europe would have to agree with the Premier League and continue, and considering the state some of them are in i can't see that happening. Otherwise that would completely feck up the Champions League for everyone all because you want your beloved Premier League to continue. It would also have huge ramifications for future seasons because god knows when they would take place. There's many other knock on effects, of course. As i said, i would like for this season to go ahead, but within reason FFS.

It's the way he says not finishing would be a lack of "integrity", and then says cups would be for reserves / youth teams!

Fecking clueless tool.

In between the serious connotations of all of this, it's good to have a chuckle!

He's in effect thinking the Premier league know when it's finishing, ahead of all medical science! Love it.

Are you seriously suggesting that our government are on top of this?

I'm suggesting a vast majority of the UK would be taking advice. I think certain spots in London still have idiots though.

For example - a whatsapp message in my friend got in a football group where the match will continue tonight at Goals:

"these are the teams - no more drop outs. We have no more reserves. Appreciate we are in testing times but I need players as I cant cancel the pitch without getting charged"

So yeah, you will get some idiots, like the bloke organising 7aside above. But that's not reflective of the UK. London has patches of idiots sadly.

We'll he just more or less said they hope to be over the peak in 12 weeks. We you then allow say another 4 weeks to come down the other side your chatting end of july.

You'll need at least 4 weeks between then and playing your games to allow players to build up some sort of fitness.

You'll be talking end of August start of September minimum id imagine

PL and FA statement is pretty much what was expected. No way there was going to a decision to void season today. It’s a holding statement which outlines intention, opens up a route to fulfil that intention but doesn’t make a final commitment. I don’t expect to hear too much more ahead of April 30 except, if as expected the spread continues, they may announce another extension a week or two ahead of that date.

From a football perspective now the most important thing is to ensure the lower league and non-league clubs receive the financial support they need to continue.

England's league is in sync with Germany/Spain/Italy etc. It cannot fall out of sync of those leagues after a certain amount of time, so when these countries cancel their leagues to start their new one, we will have no choice but to do the same.

I'd probably save the smugness for when any games are played out.
Rather than going off some "saying the right thing" stuff the FA have peddled out, amongst their hope, and that's all it is, hope that this blows over quickly.

Boris was just quoting 12 weeks to "get on top of it", which seems optimistic, and to be based on absolutely nothing.

Shame. Shame. Shame.

So gullible to think its anything other than easing the masses fears. The word indefinitely alone shows how shallow the statement is. No season can be suspended indefinitely. If this virus were to continue ravaging the world and UK for another 18 months or more, there is no way in hell they would still want to resolve a season from yesteryear. Come 30th April, or even before that, as they've done it now before the 4th, they will come out and suspend it again, and then again, until they have no other "possibility" other than voiding it. The idea to appease the masses such as yourself, is to give the illusion or the hope of finishing what simple won't be possible due to the length this virus will continue to affect the world. With experts saying a vaccine is about 18 months away, that's the only hope of starting football again, let alone thinking about finishing a season. "Its the only logical option."

Imagine doing a "Well. Well. Well." post when we're in March, and this whole virus thing hasn't really come close to even peaking in this country yet, it's quite frankly mental.

I am incredibly flattered :)

Just to be clear I want to stop COVID19 more than anything and once we have the all clear to carry on the season where we left off. It could actually make for an exciting finish to the season with renewed optimism for most clubs and many squads at full strength.

Imagine joining a United forum as Liverpool fan during our worst season and your best in 30 odd years just to laugh and wind people up, and then complaining from that high horse. Just pathetic.

It's really not the time to be doing 'well, well, well' skits, is it?

Nothing has changed and the lip service is going to be given until the logistics present a completely different set of problems (many people have run through them in here). I get you're giddy about claiming the league, but it's far from certain this season will ever be concluded, unless all parties are willing to forgo, or alter, a large portion of the next campaign, which, again is rife with all kinds of problems.

 go somewhere else instead of trying to shame us for laughing at Liverpool.
