Being denied the title after a 30 year wait due to global pandemic preventing the season from getting completed (this could only ever happen to Liverpool by the way) or being awarded one with an asterisk attached out of pity. Both share an equally high level of comedic value to me.
No, of course they wouldn't. Liverpool fans/football club are the salt of the earth and would never jeopardise the lives of others in pursuit of their own interests.
If the roles were reversed I'd definitely want the void. The asterisk though is still a good "bonus" compared to a few months ago.
They haven't decided anything yet and early signs are that a void is not even on the cards.
This is what these ridiculous Liverpool supporters can’t grasp.

can these people not comprehend that Liverpool have won nothing. If you award Liverpool the league, which I can see the only reason being that they’ve not won it for a generation, so let’s just give it to them...

They could but I doubt they will do that. If there is to be CL and EL football next season, even if its behind closed doors which seems likely, then our current season needs to end by late August at the latest. If its not safe to do so then what can they do? Nobody asked for this to happen. Liverpool and a few other clubs will be hard done by. And don't forget it will probably punish us too as we won't be in the CL and we have a good chance of getting in right now as things stand. It's not just Liverpool.
Can you not comprehend that simply one decision of the FA which contains the sentence "current standings are final" would actually mean that we have won the league instead of being awarded it? They can basically decide it whichever way they want to.
Again, FULL DISCLAIMER that I'm not saying this is what will happen, but it's certainly an option that could be considered. So any talk of "cAn YoU nOt CoMpReHeNd ThAt" about such a scenario is equally bollocks.
What else could anyone do but take it on the chin. But I think the 19 other clubs are such good sports that they'll award us it - come on Ed do your bit.

In short: yes.
In long: yes, only a pity the season wasn't played out since our lead would be even bigger.
On the other hand, if it doesn't happen, so be it. Can't complain given the circumstances, take it on the chin and move on to next year. It's unfortunate and I don't think many people would disagree that we deserved it, but if it doesn't play out - there are worse things happening right now so very easy to put it into perspective.
They won't void but they won't relegate teams either. They will follow the dutch way I reckon. And plenty of others will follow in coming weeks. It's the easiest way out in difficult circumstances.
You can't hand out titles without relegating teams. How can you relegate club with 9 10 or 11 games left and only a few points or less in it?
I disagree with the premise of the question because current placings final is different to being awarded it based on probabilities - but either way I don't mind. we were miles ahead of everyone else and on target for the biggest points total and biggest margin ever. disappointing that it looks like the remaining games won't be played but would I feel we deserved the title? Absolutely.
Of course you would pal, a public campaign no less.
Ok maybe not completely public but I'd make sure my neighbours knew at least.
The big teams will probably get looked after and the small teams screwed over.
Ah the asterisk. To signify that you didn't actually win the league, just awarded it because of the incessant moaning and "give us our due", as I keep being told. If liverpool are such worthy champions why can't they just go again next season and treat this year for what it is, a scary fecking time where football is as insignificant as they come.
No, just deal with hundreds of the public on a daily basis with no testing of them or the people they are serving. If football was to return it’s proposed to be with testing.
Liverpool could have their title denied. United probably lose our double chance at the CL through league and Europa. You don't get bigger than the two clubs on these shores.
It's a nightmare situation this. Football is basically being shown up for what it is. A game. A game we all love to death but not literally.
I just can't see any competitive sport being played until late August early September the way things are going. The French and Dutch have basically said the same.
Italy Spain England Holland France haven't got this under control at all. Only really Germany have. That's why they might be able to compete their league properly.

If football is that insignificant this season then surely Liverpool winning the league whether it be BCD, current placings final or PPG won't matter?

Surely it's either void, or points per game, (which has to include relegation and promotion), anything other, ie Liverpool as champions, but no relegation/promotion, and 2018/19 positions for CL, etc, will just open a massive open door for legal proceedings.
I don`t agree that the lead would have been bigger. Liverpool had just lost 4 of the last 5 games when the football finished and looked to be really struggling to me , mind you you could have had Michael Owens rose tinted glasses on from when Liverpool pumped Atletico 2-3 in fortress Anfield.

That's highly debatable given the somewhat fatigued condition your squad appeared to be in before the closure. You could even argue that closing the season spared you the embarrassment of the biggest collapse in the history of football. Maybe, maybe not.

You cannot feasibly award a league title to a team based on the factor of probability without utterly destroying the integrity of the game. It would farcical.

Yep very good point if all teams knew going into this season that it might not be completed, and in such a scenario everyone agreed on a points threshold for awarding the title. Eg. a team has to be 15 or 20 points clear at the time the campaign was suspended for a title to be awarded.
But as far as i'm aware there currently exists no such rules that every team agreed to. And there in lies the dilemma that will face the FA/PL in trying to sort this mess out.

The point is, you don't know how the season would have ended.
If Liverpool miss out on their first title in 30 years due to a global pandemic, I shall be virtue signalling like a Liberal Democrat in public but internally I will be snickering like Mutley.
I'm just sick of having to repeat myself or justify things I haven't said. He wants Celtic to be given the title, you want Liverpool. Neither of you will see any other view point.
If they decide PPG that's fine. Everyone will be treated the same. What is wrong and and won't happen is teams are crowned champions but everything else is left alone. I really can't get what is difficult about this.
Horrible idea, a sporting competition that is decided by teams actually having to play one another should never be decided by simming matches. This isn't a computer game.

Great point and something I haven't even thought of. They really can't award a title then say they won't relegate clubs ( which I can't see happening) . Thank you ..You have giving me more hope of Liverpool getting nothing this season
