If the PL can sort out a plan before June 1st they can start behind closed doors from that moment onwards basically.
And wasn't the UEFA cut-off date for submissions of plans 25th May anyway? Makes that kind of awkward to comply with...You seem to not be big on details.
There's loads to be sorted before any chance of a re start.
And your own word "if" is huge!
Only takes a few outbreaks amongst teams and the whole thing grinds to a halt.
"If" its even back on.
The document states that reopening venues that attract large crowds such as sports stadia "may only be fully possible significantly later depending on the reduction in numbers of infections".
No professional sport, even behind closed doors, will be staged in England until 1 June at the earliest, the UK government has announced.
I call it accurate.

Must have missed that in the speech. Is it in the detail?
It's in this mass document they've released today.
Get the feeling after last night's fudge announcement that government want mass media events like football to be restarted a.s.a.p to take the heat and focus off them day to day.
Anyone who thinks we have just been given the go ahead to start playing football on 1st June really needs to give their head a wobble.
And everyone who thought the Bundesliga would continue in mid-May was a 'mug'.
Looking forward to following this thread over the coming weeks.
I certainly don’t read into it that football should be restarted ASAP - from what I see they are stating that there is no preferential treatment for pro sports, which is 100% right.
you can’t play before 1 June, it in no way means we will be playing football at that date.
I don’t understand the fascination with looking at what other countries do - the situations are totally different. I’ve never commented on the Bundasliga. When it restarts, or whether it’s cancelled has no bearing on what happens in the UK.
This is rubbish mostly.
Majority of Liverpool fans will obviously want the season to continue but the ones in here haven’t made a thing about doing so “at all costs” . This is a blatant untruth.
And as for everyone else, again it’s always been if/and when lockdown is lifted for everyone else too hence the June restart dates. The discussions are based on this premise. I don’t think I’ve seen one person suggest football should get the go ahead before everything else or as soon as possible. And then you’ve got at least half the thread who don’t believe football should restart at all. So you’re having a go at an imaginary group of people.
Seems like you’ve just strolled in this thread without having actually read most of it, made some assumptions, taken your position on top of your moral high horse and dropped a big load of verbal diarrhoea.
The discussion on here was very much the same. Now we'll have the same again with a few weeks' delay. I don't know when exactly the Premier League continues but it's very naive at this point (and the Bundesliga continuing, as well as La Liga and Serie A preparing to the same does matter) to assume that it won't. Everything that's happening behind the scenes makes this pretty clear, just as it did in Germany.
German R figure is back above 1, so don't count those chickens just yet...The discussion on here was very much the same. Now we'll have the same again with a few weeks' delay. So there's 2 months to finish football, but we also need a pre-season and if they can't train prior to June 1 then we'd need 2 weeks to get everyone fit again. Then we'd have to play about 3 matches before the players are match fit. Not to mention this all requires everything going well with the virus.
The only option that should be on the table is scrapping the season and how best to manage the fallout from that.
What's the benefits of playing the games at neutral grounds?

I guess it reduce travel. Maybe they could all stay locally in training too.
No we don’t.
That's interesting. I can't think of many Prem ground that currently applies to. Particularly in London. They've supposedly picked the grounds with least housing near them. The most isolated grounds.
Certainly doesn't apply to Stamford Bridge, there's nothing but buildings for miles either side of the exits. That's interesting. I can't think of many Prem ground that currently applies to. Particularly in London.
Southampton? Chelsea (at a push!!).

they've had 2 months off, they may have been training at home but I doubt they'll be ready to just jump back into Premier League football. Don't be surprised when football is a slow slugfest for about 3 weeks.
How would it reduce travel? The league is still a national league, so wherever you play Newcastle v Southampton there's still loads of travel involved.
They probably do need a pre-season, but where are they going to get that? Who are they going to play in this pre-season?I thought you were implying that a pre-season is needed before going into the next season, not before resuming this one.
