I get you don't want football to restart for some reason but you need to come up with better arguments than you are doing. If millions of people stay at home to watch football instead of making extra shopping trips because they're bored or going to the same parks and beauty spots as everyone else, and we've seen the lack of social distancing there, then there will be less opportunity to bring the virus into the house in the first place.

The images of public transport are no worse than a stadium, and the country hasn’t even really got going yet.

Sitting apart in a stadium is easy.
But fans tend to flood in and out at the same time to pinchpoint locations like doorways steps and toilets. That's before you consider packed trams etc.
Unless you have monumental queues for every single procedure even trimming numbers to 20,000 isn't enough.
I expect it to be more challenging than normal for sure, but not insurmountable. In theory, we manage to get 80k into the stadium within the space of an hour and a half under normal circumstances. Getting 20k into the same stadium in that same hour and a half or whatever can probably be done in a relatively safe way.
Packed teams etc I here, but that argument starts losing validity if the teams are packed Monday to Friday anyway with people living their lives, apart from the nation’s urge to want to point out every day how little football matters. Current proposals basically have most sectors opening by August, which means that in reality, social distancing will be near enough out of the window by then anyway. Again, it will become less and less valid by September if we keep insisting people can’t come stream through the turnstiles at a stadium only, yet they can stream through the turnstiles at Kings Cross and Liverpool Street every day in similar proximity.
Just seems to me that it will make a lot of people feel better if footballers are the absolute last people to get back to normal in this country, because as we know, they have a few quid and what they want matters less than everyone else in the country.

With leagues starting again around Europe I'm mainly interested in seeing how the various FAs will handle a situation where one or more players are tested positive.

Will they not require the players to be in quarantine whilst finishing the season? Surely the best course would be to have the players all together for 4 weeks rattling off the games as quickly as possible, all staying together and not coming into contact with anyone on the outside similar to a World Cup. I’m sure I was reading about Germany and that’s what they were doing? The manager got in trouble for heading out to buy a toothbrush or something?

Rules from Germany are just for people so they think everything is in controll. If you watched games yesterday you could see that they could break them and football is saying no ban to players. They can afford 2-3 getting ban so they can say: look they get banned. But they are looking through the fingers. In Italy it is same. Protocoll said that if one player from a club (Parma yesterday) get a positive test, the whole squad will be in 14-days quarantine. But their squad is training as normal.
I’m sorry but to finish PL in four weeks with TheFA cup and European Games (including 14-day quarantine after away games) is impossible if it is done by the book. You are looking at least 2-3 months if you would go to final in EL/CL and the FA.
For those who are firmly against it what do you want? To void it or decide it on merit? Don't you also think there's still value in attempting a restart even if it fails? I actually think the whole thing has a high probability of collapsing at some point and the lessons learned now will go a long way to help next season. If we can't get through 9 games now how are we to get through 38 games next season?
Curtail it. There won’t be any Euopean football next season so no worries about those spots. Freeze relegation and promotion so compensate those still in with a chance of promotion. Give Liverpool a consolatory League Leaders trophy and medals for their efforts and recognition that they probably would have been champions.

A few German state PMs are saying they are planning to allow fans back into the stadium in the new season. I enjoyed watching the games yesterday but obviously there is something missing so that would be great news.
I can actually see Liverpool winning the PL but not actually lifting it due to there being a lack of fans. (Why would they want to lift it in an empty stadium?)

Don't what the situation is like in Germany with regards to public transport in big cities & people adhering to the 2m rule. But in London this week a lot of people returned to work & the public transport was heavily populated during the rush hour periods. Unless there's a massive spike in new cases of covid-19, or an increase in deaths via a 2nd wave, I think the authorities would struggle to insist that football continues to be played behind closed doors for a significant period of time.

It is absolutely ludicrous to not worry about European spots as UEFA will attempt everything possible for the competition to go ahead.
You can understand why any leader would go for the full lockdown option. It's initially safer for the population, & it's much safer from a political point of view. Putting the people first is always a favourable move. It remains to be seen though if lockdowns actually prevent deaths or just simply delay them.

Think I posted my thoughts on this in another thread recently but I think it's going to be no away fans, no standing areas, 1.5 m distance between seats and masks. You cannot go from 0 to 100 even with low infection numbers. On the other hand, we have already allowed outdoor concerts with up 1000 people again so some form of reopening stadia can't be too far away.
How can they relegage league 1 teams but not league 2 teams?
They dont have a leg to stand on then if the PL decided to hold firm and say no relegation because the efl have done it themeselves

Again, the majority of utd fans had no issues with you being given the league if they sorted relegation.
What we took issue with was yous saying who cares ahout relegation, giving us the league is the easy thing to do.

I think the opposite. We were in good form. If the league starts and we are as poor as the first half of the season we might pull the trigger.
Good point, I hadn't really considered the league finishing when I posted this. I almost feel as if they'll end up with a play-off system of some kind for the teams who could have hit particularly qualifications or been relegated. But presumably the season must end.
