I still believe he's on the decline and that the Barca trio are all better than him this season, but there is no doubting that Ronaldo IS one of the greatest ever. He's not human.

This is the guy the knee jerk cafe said was in decline, this was the guy a large percentage don't want back at United

Agree with this.

Tbh if you look at the goals and the opposition it's typical Ronaldo - 2 of them were really poor keeper errors and the other 2 were simple. I am a huge Ronaldo fan boy but would pick Pep over him every time - he isn't the player we need anymore, we need the 22 year old Ronaldo (who doesn't?) who could skin players for fun and pick the ball up from deep areas and drive forward with it at pace, make runs in behind and be able to unlock defences that are sat behind the ball. He's adapted his game now and fair play to him, a complete goal scoring poacher that is reliant on his team mates creating for him, still would take him in a heartbeat but I think Pep is the way forward for this club and needs to wake this sleeping giant.

No one will catch him since he is likely to keep it up for a few more years.

Just saw the goals. Absolutely horrendous goalkeeping, amateur stuff.

At least he's far far far more likely to finish those few chances we do create each game.

Definitely past his prime. His goals this season have been nothing but stat-padding. I think he is now competing with Suarez for being the third best player in the world which is a surprise because at the very beginning of 2015 he was the best in the world and had had a great start to the 2014-15 season. Now Messi is miles ahead of him and Neymar also is better than him. Having said that I would still pay 40-50 mn pounds for him. He is one of the best finishers ever and may be able to score from the rarest chances which we create. Plus I would rather hoof the ball to him than Fellaini.

I don't get it when people criticize the quality of goals he scored, especially when he scored a lot. Nobody will criticize when Messi or Neymar or any other players scored an easy goal (they surely scored a lot of those too!). Also, his first freekick goal was quality, and his 4th was a good finish.

:nono: How dare you? You-know-who only scores goals where he dribbles past 22 players (the whole team and he does it again just for kicks). Only Cristiano Ronaldo scores "soft" goals.

Nobody will catch him if he goes to score bundles against minors. Not even Messi (especially not now when he has partners and looks that all get their share).

I do not have the exact numbers ( read that today), but in the last 3 or 4 years he leads with nearly 60 goals and assists in the CL whereas Messi had 36 or 38 and next are Müller and Lewy with each 33.

You know that Müller has more goals in the Champions League than he had at his age (Müller is on 33 goals now - CR7 was more than 300 days older when he scored no. 33). No - he will not get him either as I do not think he changes into somebody that scores hattricks against the small teams.

Incredible that some criticise Ronaldo for being a flat track bully. I wish we had one of those. A home victory against PSV and we'd be in the Champions League. Home wins against Newcastle or West Ham and we'd be top of the Premier League.

Even without the goals last night Ronaldo has scored in 5 games as many CL golas as United in 6 games...

The problem is when his competition is Messi that will happen.

If Messi wasn't around nobody would be criticising him but because Messi set the bar so high those are the standards he has to compete with.

Being a flat track bully and stat padding is not going to get him the Baldon d'or again after the year that Messi has had.

Yup. It's not the El Clasicos and Manchester Derbys that will win you the league, it's consistently beating the so called lesser teams.

He scores lots of goals in the knockout rounds too. For Madrid, he has 9 goals in 12 last 16 matches, 8 in 10 QF matches and 7 in 10 SF matches (if you include his goals in semi-finals for United, then he has more goals in CL semi-finals than any other player). Those are very impressive numbers and there will not be many players, if any (probably Messi will be the only one), that will have better numbers than that. He also has great numbers against Barcelona and is the joint third highest goal scorer in El Clásico with Raul (only Messi and Di Stefano are ahead). That is an incredible achievement when you look at all the excellent players that have featured in Madrid vs Barcelona games. He also has the record for most consecutive El Clásico matches scored in, which is also incredible when you look at the players that have featured in such games.

Ronaldo does a lot more than just score hat-tricks against small teams and that is why he has received much more acclaim and praise from fans, players, ex-players, managers and pundits than any other player in the world over the last 8 years apart from Messi (and that includes your beloved Muller).

He's obviously declining. He was on a drought - that's his true form. This one game is an anomaly. Look at those goals, all just served up on a plate to him.

And that opposition - The keeper wasn't even trying. Nothing but a flat track bully who can't hack it against top teams.

Also he is so full of himself, did he even create any chances for others? We will only be paying silly money to buy him back to have a selfish ageing prima donna on our hands.

Rather play Nick Powell or Wilson; this guy will be a liability next season.

Am I doing this right?

Would love to see him play for United next season just so the fan boys from his earlier days can actually witness him play instead of throwing numbers around about his goals...

1 assist (the second goal - Benzema).
3 chances created.
2 "big chances" created.
28/30 passes completed.
93.3%
2 crosses.
3 ball recoveries.

Did we mention 4 goals too?

Those stats are Louis' dream.

The problem with this is it's not just Ronaldo that hasn't performed in these matches, it's the whole Madrid team.

Spot on. He can't drag them through every match alone. Bale and Benzema need to turn up sometimes too.

Of all the seasons you could justifiably say that about Benzema this isn't one (so far). He scored both goals in the 2-1 win away to Athletic, scored their only goal in the 1-1 draw away at Atléti, was injured for both PSG games (0-0 and 1-0 win thanks to a freak goal by Nacho), away to Celta (won 3-1 with Cristiano scoring his only goal mentioned in that image) and away to Sevilla (lost 3-2 with Ramos and James scoring) games. The clásico was his first game back from injury and he was immediately and stupidly started by Benítez whilst he was nowhere near match fit as evidenced by his performance and the fact that in the subsequent two games he came on as a sub. He's been in pretty good form, a goal a game just like Cristiano.

The graphic is stupid.

His record against Sevilla, Bilbao is ridiculous. The game v Sevilla this season is the first time he hasn't scored a hatrick agains them in like 3 years.

He has a very good scoring record v Barca.

In fact, it's only this season where he can be accused of being a flat track bully. The previous seasons he always seems to score / deliver in big(gish) games.
