Messi's yellow was removed on appeal.

The yellow card appeal system has been around for years, certainly the last ten. Maybe they just never had a "can only appeal red cards" rule.

I must admit, with this latest one, I thought it was hilarious that refs routinely wave play on for dives and "went down too easily" moments, yet the booking came for an actual foul. Such is life.

The mere fact that it had to go further in the appeal process after being rejected reflects the dubious nature of RFEF much less 'justice' in Spain. There are countless examples nevermind scenarios where opposing players conveniently have their suspensions lifted right before they play Barcelona or RM players being given the green light ahead of a tough encounter. This is not new

Pretty interesting article on Cristiano:
http://deportes.elpais.com/deportes/2015/04/09/actualidad/1428613536_761430.html
The article talks about Cristiano reinventing himself. Apparently defenses in la liga know him better every day they have changed a bit the way to defend him, awaiting for him and trying to avoid him run with spaces . According to the article from the 48 goals scored this season, only 7 were preceded by more than a touch of the ball, therefore he is behaving like a pure striker, something that obviously would happen at the end of his career, but for what you see is proving good results

Except that this isn't much different from anytime during his RM career after 09/10... a majority of his goals have been first-time, one-touch finishes. Although I do agree that he's become even more of a pure striker than before, a good indicator here (apart form watching every game) would be the amount of times he's called offside per game/per 90min, which has indeed elevated in the period 2012-15 compared to 2009-12 -- to the point where he's among the most called offside in the league nowadays.

Is he more static, holding position between the 2 central defenders?

Don't think you could ever describe him as "static", but his tendency to pick up central positions when the ball is out wide has been there since 2011 at least and has only increased after 2012. You'll also rarely see him make near post runs, which you'd far more frequently expect to be the decoy run (Benzema) when there's two or more attackers in the box, but instead he'll almost exclusively go for the far post.

Just read that if Ronaldo failed to score in his next 360 games, he'd still have a better goals to game ratio than Raul.
Scarily ridiculous

You only get to have either the Spanish FA or UEFA in your pocket, it'd be unfair to have both.

Always makes me laugh when people criticise his attitude / personality / character based on seeing him for 90 minutes out of the week!

Definitely. There's been nothing but praise for his professionalism during his whole career.

I remember a story from Sporting CP, that security was called because the lights were on at their training centre late at night. It was Ronaldo..

Why does it make you laugh? Bellends can be hard workers too.

He clearly didn't use those extra two hours to practice free kicks. For whatever reason he just isn't a threat from them anymore, which is a shame considering how brilliant he was at Man Utd and his first year or two at Madrid with free kicks.

Just shows how no matter how good you become you still need that level of commitment to stay there.

You would have thought after everything hes won/done in the game at 30 he would start to ease of the gas but not one bit of it

Cristiano Ronaldo can go without scoring for Real Madrid over the next 400 games and still have a better goal-to-game ratio than all-time top scorer, Raul.

This is what sets apart the true champions like Ronaldo with the good players like Rooney for instance.

It's not harsh. He's just a wanker. Probably wanks to a picture of himself.
