You're perfectly entitled to that opinion .. I really don't care either way about the debate, but you're wrong when you say the consensus will be that Ronaldo is better. That just isn't the case, people have a different perspective to you.
Messi is better, Ronaldo is greater, if that makes sense. If Ronaldo manages to win his 6th UCL (doing it with 3 different clubs), in addition to his Euro cup, and winning the three top European leagues (multiple times likely), then undoubtedly his achievements will dwarf Messi's. Messi obviously has been a better player, but if the scenario I mentioned happened, hard to argue that Ronalso hasn't been greater.

Yeah. You gotta stay well clear of the Messi v Ronaldo thread if only for the sheer stupidity and bias in it.
Anyway, greatly enjoyed his performance tonight. The sheer willpower to get to that ball for his first goal was amazing. Even for the disallowed goal, he was a fecking country mile away and blazed past all other players to be first on that loose ball, incredible drive and desire. It's no coincidence that he's scoring a hat-trick tonight in a game where they were on the brink of elimination. It's almost expected from him at this stage. Incredible.
Ronaldo shades it for me as well. Best ever.

This guy just has it. Every time you count him out he proves you wrong. A hat trick in the CL knockouts. I don't care about this Messi v Ronaldo nonsense. I just marvel at what they are doing, it's unprecedented.
Unbelievable fitness and commitement. To think that at 34 Ronaldinho was long done with european football and Ronaldo Phenom was on the verge of retirement really settles the debate of who's the greatest Ronaldo to play the game.
@SportingCP96 you don’t need to compare him to Messi just leave that please. Beside that they are totally different players. Just enjoy them.
His achievements are the best (bar possibly Pele's), but that would only cement it further. The most amazing thing of him is that you can put him in any league, any club, any formation, and he'll still win games for you. I don't know other players who have done this.
It does but the issue is his stans don't even accept that much. They think he's "better" too.

Usually a team repeatedly chucking it in the box don't profit all that often, but when you have Ronaldo it's genuinely deadly, Atletico couldn't deal with it. He's so accurate with his headers as well.
The fanatics on both sides are to be ignored. All they do is belittle the other.
I know they do but many of the ones who say Messi is because " he is a nice guy and Ronaldo is a Cnut" in 25 years Ronaldo will be seen as the greatest No other player in history let alone this era can always drag their team through with their back against the wall.
What football supporter, EVER, was objective? As a Liverpool supporter, you probably loathe him, just like most United supporters can't stand Suarez, even if we recognise him as a good player. Football is subjective, which is why there will always be a debate. Let's not turn this into yet another Messi vs Ronaldo discussion.
What Ronaldo did today was absolutely tremendous. His impact for any team he has ever played for is pretty much unrivalled. Look at how Real Madrid have fallen apart without him. Juventus go through to the next round because of him. I don't even care about his age. He's just that good and influential.

Can anyone count the Champions League ties he's resolved by towering over a short fullback and scoring a header? I've lost count. Last year vs Juve they got the penalty the same way after he flew over Alex Sandro.
His ability in the air will keep being downplayed in favour of things like dribbling and throughballs but it has such a huge impact on the game it's insane. He doesn't even need to be scoring to impact it either, his presence and movement in the box get completely ignored unless he's the one scoring but it opens up so much space for others...
Today was incredible, the amount of players that can score a header between Godin and Jimenez isn't big. His attitude, confidence and mentality clearly spreads through whatever team he's on. Juve had half the team out injured, they needed 3 to pull it off aganst the best defensive team on the planet, huge pressure on the 100 million euros shoulders and he does it. One of his best nights for sure.
I understand that a lot of people don't like him but he's 34, this won't last much longer. It's an honour to still be able to enjoy nights like these in 2019.

He has a little bit of that ability that Michael Jordan had where he will simply hang in the air. I know it's probably physically impossible, but it looks that way for him as it did for Jordan.
I still choose to believe that he would have somehow been awful if we had ever brought him back. I need to believe that.

You can't learn mentality. You have it or not.
He's been exceptional at Juve as an all round player too - Maybe not in the same way he used to be but his link up play, movement and ability to draw fouls is outstanding on top of the obvious end product. Truly staggering to think he's 34. Yes he's lost some pace but he'd still athletically dominate most players in their prime.
His record against the top sides is just something else. Bayern, Atletico, Juventus - Some of the best defensive sides in Europe over the last few years and he's destroyed them. Unprecedented what he's doing.

Contrary to belief I like Messi a lot actually and have all but respect for him. But the reason I feel the need to say this is because in this forum He gets downplayed for everything and if he had lost today the state of this forum would be shocking.
It is an argument of higher peak vs diversity for me. Put Messi in ideal situation, and he'll be better than anyone else. Put Ronaldo in different (and not ideal) situations, and he'll still win you leagues and UCLs.
Better footballer? no better player? by far my friend Messi just as he did in Rome last year would choke it is who he is he is mentally weak.
This. It's why I would have welcomed him back old as he is. The only 'old' player I would make an exception for.

The people who were arguing against us bringing him back (even though it would never happen) were absolutely ridiculous. Imagine if we had him to slot in as our 9 right now....
It isn't necessary the case that his ability in the air is downplayed in favour of dribbling or passing but rather the technical side of the game is always preferred and looked upon more romantically than the physical side of the game in general. Most people prefer to see someone dribbling through a crowd of players or threading the needle with a beautiful pass to someone towering over someone else to win a high ball. It's nothing against Ronaldo specifically. It's just always been that way. Look throughout history at all the players generally thought to be amongst the greatest of all time and they're all technically brilliant (Ronaldo included).

Ronaldo missed in the 2008 penalty shootout. It happens. The stuff about being "mentally weak" is just bullshit. You don't achieve that much in the game if you're mentally weak.

Fairplay to him, I must admit I had my doubts if he'll be able to replicate these type of performances given his age and lack of quality in Juves’ midfield but tonight he proved he can.
Atletico are horrible to play against, even tonight they didn’t concede loads of clear chances but Ronaldo came clutch when two of them appeared. The hattrick was inevitable from there on.
Brwned made a similar post last year and I fully agree with what you’re saying. Messi was the better footballer at their respective peaks, but Ronaldo is greater.

You are taking it too literal Messi and Ronaldo in the situation Juve were in tonight I and anyone would take Ronaldo over Messi he has the X factor that cant be taught. Michael Jordan esq.
