I'm not being biased at all. It's his first goal that's all.

Plechazunga said:In the first half he made Cole look land on his arse and skinned him at least twice. By the second they'd worked him out - though that's easier to do when you're playing so defensively you can keep two players covering him, and let's not forget that was the most negative performance we've seen from Arsenal for years. The 'one-trick pony' tag is false - anyone who saw Sporting batter us pre-season knows he's got a few more up his socks, including one absolutely ridiculous one I can't even begin to describe where he sort of squirts the ball out from under his foot.

Admit it, he's been poor - a dissapointment.
From what we have seen so far maybe you're right he could be a 'two trick' pony![]()
No seriously, the guy has talent in abundance agree he has pace and good feet and a sound technique and it is unfair to due to his age to have a go . However that should not blind you to the fact that actually he has been dissapointing so far but unfortunately for us will probably get better.
Not many foreign imports play great first season in, nomatter what age they are so I think the jury will be out on him for some time.
He's certainly getting a lot of exposure and Fergsun obviously feels he's ready for it.
For me there is only one Ronaldo and your one ain't it !
Nate said:Ok then I'll just call a spade a spade and say it was a total fluke.

I can see how you feel he's been a disappointment, given the ludicrous hype on MotD after his debut. What can I say? I just don't feel remotely disappointed. I was led to believe he was an outstanding young talent, capable of taking men on and scoring goals. He's probably beaten more men in the few games he's played than anyone except Giggsy did the whole of last season, he's just scored his first goal, he looks like he's learning quickly about laying ther ball off and not dribbling (or diving) all the time, and he basically just looks pure class. He's 18. Disappointed, no. Delighted, yes. Worried he's gonna piss some fullback off so much he clobbers him good and proper, yes![]()

Nate said:No it was a fluke and I have never claimed otherwise.
Ronaldo's was the same.
Jopub the Gooner said:Incidentally whats the situation with him regarding 'home' . Is he allowed to get back to family etc in Portugal it being only a couple of hours away.? Or is he kept under lock and key in Manchester by MIFergi and his agents!?![]()
Does he have family with him here ?
Very difficult being away from family at such a 'vulnerable' age shall we say
Jopub the Gooner said:Interesting points here highlights that had he come 'quietly' early summer for a much smaller maybe 'private' fee the hype would have been nil and the expectations much different.
Undoubted quality and be fascinating to see how he copes with the pressures of playing for Utd at such a tender age.
Incidentally whats the situation with him regarding 'home' . Is he allowed to get back to family etc in Portugal it being only a couple of hours away.? Or is he kept under lock and key in Manchester by MIFergi and his agents!?![]()

Nate said:It wasn't an excellent goal, it was a poor cross that was missed by the strikers and flew through past the mis-sighted Hislop who couldn't keep it out.
Excellent goal indeed.

Gutsy said:He has showed that he can handle the pressure and looks very comfortable playing in the premier league, i am sure he will cope perfectly well.
As for his "vulnerable" age, as said he is 18 not 12, you keep trying every angle you can to find the negatives i am sure it makes you feel better. I for one am more than happy with his progress so far and feel he will go on to do great things for the club.
With regards to the "lock and key" comment, if there is one manager in the league who knows how to look after the younger players at the club then thats Fergie, his record is unmatched and above any little dig you may attempt to make. Whether you like it or not Ronaldo is one of the rising stars of the game and he plays for us. Being a Gunner i can understand why you think he may bottle it, after all thats all you see year after year but i am sure Ronaldo will go on to shine.. time will tell.

devilish said:Forgetting that Rooney is a striker while Ronnie is a winger (therefor strictly speaking they cannot be compared), yes I do believe that Ronnie is an exceptional talent as big as the Everton's gem. I mean, how many 18 year old players that you are currently seeing has the technique, the fantasy and the magic that Ronnie have? I watch the Italian and the EPL regularly, and personally I cannot name you even 1!
As stated in another post, Ronaldo's biggest enemy lie in himself and its called inexperience. I mean, why do you think that he dribbles that extra player, overreact in front of the ref and shoot from impossible places? Yes you are right, because he is still very young.
In two years time I am sure that I will proven right on this guy

devilish said:And let us not be so hard on the boy. Ok he can be too ambitious, shooting or dribbling when the wiser option would have been to pass it, but for feckin sake, he is still a boy. He will learn out from his mistakes and will become a world class player. Whoever remembers Giggs when he was 18 year old will fully understand me!
