Crystal Palace vs. Manchester United

Good half, we're just missing the little bit of confidence to break through. Decent amount of movement although we could still do with more. We'll win this I think, we just need to keep doing the same thing because crystal palace have been pressing and defending really well, it won't last.

Fellaini been pretty good as well I thought.

Looks like Dubai did what to the team what we all hoped. We just need be patient for the breakthrough

Fellaini was actually decent. Started our best chance of the match. Terrible finishing though.

We have all the dynamism of a sloth.

Exactly. The play itself hasn't been too bad, it's just ponderous. If anything it feels like Carrick is slowing it down everytime he gets on the ball as he looks to have a couple of touches and looks around before playing it on.

The Fellaini bashing in here today is beyond a joke to be fair.
This.
He's been brilliant today. Box to box. Passed well,
Got himself about and yes he missed a half decent chance (upon his first return for months!). The lad is a breath of fresh air in our midfield with energy, composure and height. Great half.

Drawing this game 0-0 with the attacking talent we have on the pitch should be a crime.

Better yet by no means brilliant, for the most we were patient but easy to defend against.

I wouldn't say Fellaini has justified his place so far.

good lord, fellaini has been a huge improvement on cleverly so far, passed the ball around well, been mostly tidy, complemented carrick well.

generally a fairly decent performance he misses one good chance with his weak foot and gets absolutely destroyed.....calm down he's playing fine more of the same please

What? Most of it is praise for him doing completely simple things like 5 yard passes and breaking into the area.
Nah, read back. After Fellaini created a chance from nothing, received the ball back and missed that shot, a load of people were calling him to feck.

Lots of possession but absolutely no cutting edge. Credit to palace because they've just sat back and defended in a very organized fashion. They know that their only chance is to hit us on the counter but that we are vulnerable when trying to break through 11 men.

We've definitely been trying to go through the middle more today but not much luck really. I suppose Fellaini's chance was the best one of the game. We need to mix it up a bit more and become more unpredictable. In some ways all this possession is doing us no good because palace can just sit back with 11 men. No chance for us at all to hit them on the break or run at them. Its going to be another difficult match for the team and we need a moment of magic/luck to break through.

Fellaini in the team = no crosses.

Fellaini not in the team = Many crosses.

Moyes will be like wtf after the game because people will criticise the lack of crossing however, if anything, when Fellaini is in the box then a cross has much better chance of producing something.

Poor half overall, we still look like a nothing team. Only a couple of decent chances to speak of.

This.

So poor. So much hesitancy. Taking 3 touches to go down the obvious route. Nobody willing to take responsibility on the edge of the box and maybe, ya know, shoot...

Palace have been awful. Everytime they have tried to play on the deck we have won it back easily. Yet, with the way we are playing I could see Palace snatching it.

We have controlled it well enough. The team still moves too slowly for my liking though.

Chris Smalln

I'm with you on this, though I didn't know it was his weaker foot tbh. He needs SOME leeway, he hasn't played for how many months now?

Fellaini's been decent, I still don't think he's that good but he will be a massive improvement on Cleverley, Anderson and Jones in mdifield. We've been a bit average, a significant improvement on several recent performances but we've still struggled to create chances against Crystal Palace.

You are one of the very few sane posters here. Chapaeu bas

Thinking this was a good half just shows how much the team and fans are hurting. Only one very good chance, Mata is AWOL, RVP is invisible, Rooney is basically useless. I don't even know what we're trying to play.

Moyes could do worse than make Joan Collins from the Snickers ad his assistant.

Maybe I am a little harsh but it has been barely above average to me.
We've been okay. We've lacked penetration and creativity and been a bit pedestrian. On the other hand it's refreshing to see be able to string a few passes together without bricking it and wacking it long. Standards the how fallen have and all that.

Shame about Fellaini's miss. He's done well. His physical presence has been huge. Rarely loses a challenge. The way he rolled his man just before the miss was slick. It's good to see a central midfielder getting in and around the box. He and Carrick seem to be taking it in turns to join in the attacks.

Promising performance. Just need to be a bit more ruthless as we approach the penalty area.

Carrick needs to be a bit more expansive in his passing, far too happy with passing it to the side. I'm nearly sure one of his passes led to a great chance in that half, not doing enough of them though...

I want Rooney to score and run the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of them cnuts in the corner.

Carrick's been our main problem today, he is so slow in possession it's unreal. Palace have all the time in the world to get all players behind the ball with the way he just takes numerous touches before passing it sideways to Evra or Mata.

Otherwise it was a decent showing, we should be up a couple, but hopefully the breakthrough will come. I thought Fellaini's performance was encouraging after his long lay-off.

I'm not bashing Fellaini, it's not his job to make up the tactics, he's following Daves tactics. It's just absurd tactics IMO. I'd prefer to have Rooney or Mata in the box than Fellaini. With Fellaini in the box it's forcing one of Mata and Rooney to cover his position, which is acceptable once in a while, but it's been constant throughout the half.

Still 0-0 at half time, we've been solid, Palace have played well. Ince looks good.

"Decent" against what standard? Yes, he deserves some slack for this being his first match in three months but my God he's got a long way to go before he's "decent".

We have to raise -- or better put, restore -- our standards, mates.

How has he not been decent?

Fellaini has been one of our better players this half, despite the missed chance.

Decent-ish first half. Carrick looking poor on the creative front, however we have 4 very capable forwards who should produce more than just standing around waiting for the ball at their feet.

Fellaini and Smalling two best players of that half for me.

This is nice. The match day thread is back to reasonable levels with only the usual moaning cnuts providing the entertainment, bless them for their commitment.

There is absolutely no urgency in our play. We have passed it well but you'd think we were 5 nil up with 2 minutes to play the way the players are going about this match. Pedestrian.

So, has the sunny break worked then? Are we looking a new brand of sexy? What say ye?
