I just hope he has lots of solid games to start his career, don't mind if there isn't anything spectacular to begin with...that will come. But any huge mistakes could start to cause big problems

How did he do tonight?
I thought he did very well, exciting stuff. His passing is fecking great. Well done David Van De Gea.
Van der Sar-esque. He had no chance for the goal, but otherwise he is very comfortable with the ball at his feet and looks to distribute quickly with his throws. He also showed good concentration and quick reflexes when required. He looks ready.
Thought he was very impressive. Made a couple of good saves, his distribution was excellent and he was calm in goal although he did seem to be shouting at the defenders on a few occassions. Overall a good debut.
Where did all the rest of the comments go ? Was it because he received a bit of objective criticism on his performance vs Philly ?

Can't really fault him for Thiago's goal. The swerve on that strike was unreal.

And I don't get a deep feeling of dread any time the ball comes to him like I got with Foster and Kuszczak.

I like the look of him already. I think he'll just slot in comfortably as soon as he gets his first chance then there'll be no looking back.
Its great that he's so comfortable with the ball at his feet. His short passing is good also and is always played at a high speed, which fits in with how we should be playing.

Amazing that he actually found someone with it. Is it too early to say his distribution is already in the top 3 in the world?
Yes.
Both goals he's let in so far are ones he had no chance with, everything else he's looked fantastic. Good at catching crosses, punching when he has to. Apart from one kick last night most of his distribution was top notch (that one ball to Owen was amazing), always looking to get things moving quickly.
Once he learns the lingo he'll be fantastic. Also really encouraged by Lindegaard, be good to have a very competent number 2 so they can push each other on.
Based on two preseason appearances, yes.
I know it's shocking, but it is actually possible to watch leagues outside of England.
