Two young and inexperienced keepers playing for a top 6 side. I feel these two are the most talented young keepers in the Prem and it will be interesting to chart their form over the course of the season.


David De Gea

Have a shot on who you rate best on the following categories.

Shot Stopping - self explanatory
Command Area - knowing when to come out and control your box
Handling - they dont spill the ball
Taking Crosses - self explanatory
Organising Defence - at corners and set pieces especially free kicks
Kicking - self explanatory
Ball Control - involved with play and back passes
Starting Attacks - how quick to start a break
Throwing -
 
Both promising young keepers. Arsenal's PIG is under rated on this forum.

Too early to say which is better in this league yet IMO as DeGea has only played once.
 
De Gea is suited to United (give him some time to show it), Szczęsny shows he's suited to Arsenal.

To early to compare them... really. They're young bastards.

Crimianlly under-rated. It beyond me really, the guy got his debut against United at OT. Was nothing short of briliant in that game. then he played in Arsenal's goal for the rest of the season - did nothing wrong (from United POV) apart from pulling of some great saves.

and yet morons here give him stick for...... being an Arsenal player and we know that if you are an Arsenal keeper you're a plonker. yeah righto.

I've been saying this for two years now- hes one of the most talented keepers in world and already one of the best in the EPL.

ATM i'd rather have him in the squad than DDG. This will change once DDG
adapts to the EPL.
 
I think Pogue is referring to the Carling Cup Final mix up with Koscielny? I can't remember any others.

Based on half a season as Arsenal's first choice? What utter nonsence. Almost as ridiculous as the media suggesting DDG should be sold.

He's nowhere near one of the best in the Premier League. Not yet anyway.

I really think he is, I've watched him for a while in Arsenal youth team games and Carling Cup against West Brom and he's always looked brilliant to me. Really is a top keeper.
 
Didn't he give away a penalty against Spurs? I don't think that was a clear error either to be fair.

Chesney is more adjusted to the league at the moment which is to be expected. De Gea needs time but is much more proven.
 
Not really the best time to compare them given Chesney has started the season well and despite his brief time has convinced me that Arsenal have far bigger problems than who stands in front of the net.

Still a twat though

Yup. Suicidal charge off his line. Easily as culpable as DDG was for City's second.
 
At this very moment Szczęsny, apart from the Carling Cup final the only gaff you can throw at him was taking out Lennon in the 3-3. He also seems to have a real presence about him in goal.

Who knows what the season will bring for the two though....

Both not seen enough to judge. I'll wait until end of the season.
 
Szczezny also should have conceded a penalty and been sent off within the first few minutes of that CC final IIRC. Other than that though I can't remember many errors.

That's one the most stupid things I've read about the incident. You dive into your own player taking both of you out of the game and probably making sure neither get the ball? Way to go.

Why not try the alternative analysis that suggests Koscielny can do one of two things a) pay attention to his keeper's call and let the ball go; or b) kick it into row Z.

What does he lose by clutching the ball and going through the defender? He ball doesn't go in the goal and at worst you lose an error prone defender for extra time.

That's what I've been saying, I can completely envisage Schmeichel would have done just that.
