David Moyes | West Ham in talks with him for managerial job

@Parry Gallister

Moyes is one of the topics i try to avoid. I will say though that he is a good manager and Sunderland should be happy they have got him. The only problem is that he might not get the respect of the players anymore because of how much of a laughing stock he was at you lot.

It's still very frustrating and annoying to be reminded of him managing United.

Whatever excuses he made about the squad and not having enough time, deep down he must know that everything was there for him to succeed and he mishandled it and went about everything the wrong way. One day he might hold his hands up but not anytime soon.

He'll probably do okay at Sunderland, but if it doesn't work out for him I imagine he'd struggle to find another Premier League club.

Best user name ever :lol::lol::lol:

Here we go

When you sign a six-year contract and you end up there ten months, yeah, I believe I was [treated badly].

Can't disagree with that though. LVG was terrible, spent much more money than he did and was given much more time.

I personally don't think it'd have turned out different had he been given more time. The job was simply too big for him.

The biggest mistake in modern football history was giving this fraud the United job.

How he can sit there, and say that with a straight face is beyond me..

This is exactly why I hate him. This holier than thou, I'm such a hard working great manager, routine he throws about the place.

No David, you're a fecking medicore manager, who has won the sum of feck all in your career.

I guarantee you no team he has managed has won a coin toss

Of course you can.

That money needs to be put into some context: Moyes spent 67m in his year, large by United standards, 30 on complete dross and he splurged 37 for a player who wasn't what we were missing. LvG had a bigger range of outcomes: Martial is amazing, Shaw seems good, Schneiderlin, Darmian and Herrera are very variable but seemed good purchases, Schweini was free, Rojo is the worst thing on earth, AdM was bad but we recouped most of that money.

From after the Leicester 5-3 defeat in LvG's 1st season till the 1-1 away draw at Leicester last November (if we had won there we would have gone 1st), we were a pretty consistent team. The window for sacking was basically December 2015 onwards, when we really slumped. But even after that we beat City and Liverpool away (only drawing to Chelsea because of a last-minute equaliser), beat Arsenal at home with kids, and won the FA Cup.

LVG was miles better than Moyes.

He won the FA cup, he beat Liverpool four times in a row in the league, he hammered City and beat them away, he unearthed Rashford and TFM, he bought Martial and Shaw, he was a funny and genuine man who was not quite up to the task in the end.

Sure he made a lot of mistakes but he also suffered appallingly with injuries. Compared with that charlatan Moyes he was a managerial God.

Moyes big game record was a disgrace that is why he was rightly sacked after 8 months and should have gone sooner.

I think he did a perfectly decent job at Everton in his time. He was respected by the players and did consistently pretty well. But a top manager he is not, and he shows it every time he opens his mouth these days. Could still do a decent job at Sunderland if he works out that his current meal should be humble fecking pie.

I don't get why he keeps going on about that fecking 6 year contract. He signed the contract with the clause that said if we didn't get top 4 we could get rid of him without having to pay the full compensation. So he must have known getting top 4 was seen as fairly important by the board.

And yet almost 2 and a half years later he still can't understand why he was sacked. What an idiot.

Just remember the Fulham game, honestly, that was the game where even the agnostics turned atheist, fecking hell that was shit.
Really hope we dick Sunderland both games now.

I think he will do ok with Sunderland. He will keep them above water.

But I just can't help but want to see him fail miserably. He brought so much embarrassment to us.

Love the classic Moyes lack of ambition. "Honestly we're some way off being able to sign players of the calibre of Marouane Fellaini"

And yet Leicester have a whole team of those players

He'll always be a small time manager. As a player and manager he smacks of mediocrity even though he probably is very much a workaholic.

Sunderland is his level and they'll be a rock solid mid-table outfit under him and very hard to beat but fans there will tire of his brand of football after a few seasons but the Sunderland board might enjoy the mid-table security and may fancy him long term

Ugh

“When you sign a six-year contract and you end up there ten months , yeah, I believe I was [treated badly].''

I'm starting to wonder if he actually believes this shit or if he really is thick.

“Ultimately the key is to win football matches. I didn’t win enough football matches, but you must say there were mitigating circumstances. And, I think, you could say there are maybe things that have gone on since then, that would actually justify that even more so.”

Yes David you were shit and made just about every mistake you could have made.

I had no real ill will towards him, he was just a guy that was remarkably out of his depth. He's done quite the job of changing that opinion with the constant mistreated claims. I really hate the football PR speak and everyone blaming everyone else. It's unrealistic to expect anything else I suppose, but it does leave a very sour taste.

It will be interesting to see what sort of reaction he gets at Old Trafford. I doubt he will get booed, but I can't see the reception being that warm either.

So the clown is keeping the Sunderland staff as he wants to keep stability.

The guy is a fool and hypocrite. Should have done that when he was here.

I'd quite like him to take Adnan on loan for the season.

One of the few positives from the Moyes era was his form. Maybe it was coincidental, maybe he just managed him extremely well.

Either way I'd like to find out. Can't imagine he'll get a sniff under Mourinho this side of Christmas.

Contracts are usually on the basis that you perform to a certain standard, Dave. Bellend.

So another negative Moyes interview about his time at Old Trafford.........hopefully he goes down with Sunderland and they're going out in both cup competitions against Newcastle or he will be sacked

Spot on. Can't disagree with a word of that.

Wants us to do him a favour with Januzaj and Fellaini too.

Turns out he isnt that nice eh, just plain stupid

What a thread... let it go people, he has gone just let it go. For all of you who are complaining about his bitterness etc arent you all just doing the same thing? The best thing in terms of dismissing him would be for this thread to die away and he disappear into the obscure sections of our history like Dave Sexton did.
Its the same people in this thread repeating the same thing they have been repeating in countless other threads on here. All you are doing is keeping him alive relative to utd. Just let it go. Sadly I doubt most of you are capable of moving on and there will be more threads in the future where the same people will repeat the same tired drivel. Its like a bad dream.
