David Moyes | West Ham in talks with him for managerial job

Remember when people used to say stuff like "Moyes wouldnt work at a big club, his eye is for a good bargain, not superstars." What happened? He worked for a decade without a penny at Everton. You'd think he'd go down to the Championship and shop around for someone younger, rather than going after the walking wounded.

So Moyes thinks the solution to avoiding relegation and improving his injury stricken squad, is to sign a shit injury prone player. Is he purposely trying to sabotage Sunderland?

He's trying to get the sack. Why go through the hassle of commuting to the training ground every day and going through the ignominy of having to sit at the dugout while you're obviously fecking up, when you can get the sack, receive a large sum of money as a result and doing nothing for the next few months?

Can't stay off the ale. Allegedly. Then there was an incident a year and a half ago where he hit a cyclist while drink driving and left the scene (only to smash into a petrol station afterward).

Don't think he has been injured much as of late, but he doesn't have the legs to play in Koeman's midfield.

Darron Gibson was also dropped by Fergie, along with Wayne Rooney, after they had allegedly been drinking over Christmas in the 2011/12 season. That led to Fergie's great decision to field a midfield pairing of Rafael and Park, against Blackburn on New Year's Eve. Not only did we suffer a 3-2 home defeat, when a win would ultimately have secured us the league title that season, not City, that decision was the one that finally made up Paul Pogba's mind to leave at the end of the season. Although Pogba did get games during his "loan" spell with Juventus, it just cost us 89 million quid for the privilege. And that was the summer after Fergie said he wouldn't be signing any midfielders, as "there was no value in the market" and "Pogba would end up leaving if he didn't get matches".

Another myth

It's insane the way he is buying the old Everton cast offs. What a clueless manager. I honestly think he would have loved to have had Osman or Piennar at United but he didn't have the bottle to do it as the fans would be raging.

How is Anichebe still being given work related to football? He's clearly provided years of evidence that he's totally inept at it.

His scouting is lazy, but he's just got two really injury prone players to go into a squad full of injuries. He's not even playing it safe signing these two.

The funniest thing is that he's never even dropped down a division. He's somehow managed to forge a career in the PL since 2005. Madness.
Probably because he's been playing under a similar fraud in Moyeseh tbf.

Personally I think that Gibson is a good player IF fit. Good passing range, tank of a shot in him. Sunderland are crying out for goals from midfield so might work out well. IF fit

Blows my mind that Gibson hasn't already been at Sunderland. Seems exactly right for them. What a joke Moyes is.

Never liked Sunderland FC since Charlie Hurley scored a late winner at OT to knock us out of the cup 50-odd years ago. Yes - I was there....

And never liked Moyes....Ever....

Happy days ahead for me when they get relegated ( again ) and Moyes gets sacked ( again ).....

I hate Moyes with a passion but I can't understand the stick he is getting for signing players who he has worked with before.

He is managing (in the very loosest sense of the word) a terrible squad who are favourites to be relegated. He is working under a non-budget (partly thanks to him spunking all their money on trash) and no-one in their right mind would want to join them. It seems fairly rational to get in players you know will play for you and have PL experience.

He is still a cnut though.

MRS MOYES: "David, if you wanted to have an affair, why did you choose my twin sister of all people?"
MOYES: "I thought she could do a job."

MRS MOYES: "But why now, why not before?"
MOYES: "I needed a few decades of scouting her."

It's a fair point, although, he tried (and half succeeded) to do the same thing when he came here... so it's clearly somewhat of a trope of his, regardless of his surroundings.

"He's a top manager is Dave."

The amount of pundits and journos that still come out with this to this very day astounds me.

Arry said this exact same thing yesterday on talkshite.

Some guy from the Mirror said it the other day as well :wenger:

What year was that old chap? Can't ever remember King Charlie scoring in the Cup at OT? Can remember an own goal in the Cup but think it was at Roker.

I know how he feels. When I go a few years to far in FM it's filled with regens and you just can't trust them. You go with what you know.

It's unfortunate for Sunderland that what he knows are players who are uninspiring and most of them winding down their careers. I think it shows Moyes' lack of interest and passion for the game, he doesn't seem to have added anything to his management. His knowledge on the transfer market consists of what he had, just looks out of touch and disinterested.

Did he? He brought in Fellaini and his backroom staff but he was actively scouting new players but no-one wanted to come. I'm pretty sure even Fellaini wasn't his first choice.

Well the story was that he definitely wanted Baines and Fellaini, but we kept dithering/low-balling Everton,

1967 > 1968 was it ?

Perhaps I'm wrong - maybe it was different year or maybe it wasn't Charlie Hurley....

I just remember going to the match as a youngish teenager and struggling to hold back the tears as we filed out of OT after the match.

Yeah his scouting network uncovered the unpolished gems that were Ronaldo, Bale and Fabregas.
