David Moyes | West Ham in talks with him for managerial job

What would've happened if Sunderland were in Chelsea's half (far-fetched. I know) before Terry was due to come on? Would Moyes have asked them to put it out of play?

As bad as he is/was, what position in the PL did he leave us in and what round of the CL did we get to (pre £300m spend!)? Did he damage the squad during his year here, possibly (especially the defence but they were on their last legs) probably the biggest damage he did was giving rooney a huge contract but rooney did go onto have a good season.

As we've found out it's a tougher job than any of us even thought and nothing suggests that Jose would have done any better had he taken the reins straight after saf.

The good news for Jose is the expectations have been massively lowered and he won't get the chop. So with hindsight was it such a stupid move to put someone like Moyes in charge straight after saf?

Yes

If someone wins money on a substitution at 26 minutes, then Sunderland and Chelsea could be in shit for it. A pre-determained decision prior to the game isnt allowed, whether there is intent to profit or not.

The guy is a complete clown.

His negativity at Sunderland was no surprise to anybody. I cannot believe a single fan wants him to remain next season. Even if they have received a slap.

I genuinely couldn't believe our luck when you appointed him, its almost like you were trying to say sorry for the SAF dominantion

In my opinion he is atleast 70% responsible for your current struggles to escape mere top 4 battle's, his negative mentality alone is absolutely toxic, i was at the game yesterday and just seeing him in the away dugout made me feel depressed, on a day we were lifting the title ffs  His name should be next to the word negative in the dictionary.

Not having that.

He inherited a title winning team. Every team has average players in the squad, we certainly did under SAF, Chelsea do today. Mentality is the key. All of them played as a team and believed they could win anything. The players were easily good enough to challenge despite what Moyes's mates in the media tried to say. We saw with Leicester just how far teamwork and mentality can take you even when you dont have the best players.

Moyes destroyed all that belief and team spirit in a few short months and left us with a collection of individuals. If Mourinho or even LVG had taken over straight away there would have been minor tinkering with the player names but the team spirit would have stayed.

I don't know about LVG, i think he might have gutted the squad either way. Certainly the horrible year under Moyes made it easier for him but the majority of that squad wasn't suited for possession football.

In my opinion Van Gaal decimating the squad is one of the biggest reasons why we are currently struggling.

Van Gaal's biggest issue was in the transfer market because he was not a good recruiter like Mourinho or Ferguson so he couldn't spot and buy the players he needed to make his system work. Still in his first season we were quite good whenever Carrick and the center backs were fit so there's a good chance we could have qualified for the CL in the season after Fergie retired and may be added a DoF subsequently to help him with transfers. More importantly he'd have retained some continuity by keeping someone like Rene Mulensteen on staff.

Moyes was absurdly miserable at every level of management and much worse he declined help when offered.

I don't think it's fair to say the clear out was entirely down to LVG. A lot of those players had just spent a miserable year under Moyes and had one foot out of the door already. Particularly the older guys.

I would be surprised if he doesn't find a reason to quit before the start of the season. He probably thinks he's way too good to be in the Championship

Bet Sunderland knows this too and hence refusing to sack him because they don't want to pay the fraud an extra cent extra.

Oh i'm not saying he would have been as terrible as Moyes, he probably would have came top 4 but i still reckon within two years he would have gutted the squad to suit his style of play and i think theres a good chance we would still have been in a similar situation to where we are now.

It wasn't all down to Van Gaal no, players like Rio, Vidic and Evra were already out the door. But you only have to look at the departures after that to see he caused way too much squad upheaval, much more than was really necessary. I think he sold/loaned/released something like 25-30 senior players in just over a year, which is mental.

Resigns from Sunderland A.F.C.
Looks like hes resigned...Breaking news

Yep. Left without taking compensation.

He should walk away as I don't think he has it in him to get Sunderland straight back up, will be a really difficult job given their financial situation and he could easily find himself struggling in bottom half of championship next season.

I imagine both parties want out but Moyes won't want to leave without a pay off and Sunderland can't afford to pay him off so they are stuck with each other.

Will be Watford manager within a week. Those turds deserve him.

Heh, badly timed. ;)

Pathetic quitter. Sickening if he gets another gig in the PL.

Hopeless decision. Should've stayed and tried to get them back up and try and restore his reputation.
No PL side is going to get him a job till he proves himself in the championship and Sunderland could have been that club

I think he is done at any PL level club. I don't even think he is Championship level manager anymore.
