At this point, it really isn't over reacting to say he's been poor. It's been going on for 3 years now.

Give Henderson a run of games. See where that takes us.
 
That last goal was so badly conceded. Entire team terribly defended. No one won the header! Really? no one marked properly their top scorer and De Gea pussied out like a little bitch to be a cherry on a shit cake.

All fair comments and can’t disagree, I’d much prefer to see someone play who is on their way up than way down, and for the record I’m not saying we shouldn’t give Hendo a go but...

People actually are saying the above and have forgotten how Hendo performed in his last game. If he’d played tonight and made those mistakes the caf would be in uproar, writing him off (see Shoretire thread) and criticising everyone involved in his selection.
 
Can't wait for him to pop up on Facebook and Twitter in a few days giving it 'we go again'.
 
Shocker tonight. Let Everton back into the game when they were deflated and we were dominating then pussied out big time at the death.
 
Basically he isn't a great shot stopper anymore, he parries everything, he can't play a pass, he has no authority in the box and is an absolute pussy . What exactly is he good at really ? Fact is that if he hadn't done what he did for the first few years he wouldn't be near the lineup right now .

Here's a simple question - if you say a GK playing for another team at the level that he had played for the last 3 seasons would you think that United should get him ? Absolutely no chance
 
DeGea is a huge problem for us. He's on a gigantic contract, which his performances don't warrant. So nobody is that interested in buying him off us, and if we don't play him our biggest earner sits out. We should never have improved his terms so much when he renewed. He wasn't even playing well enough to deserve a renewal. We will be regretting that deal for years to come. The thinking there is only a little better than giving new deals to Rojo and Jones.
 
3 things with De Gea.
Go for the near post, he'll be hiding behind it.
Drop crosses or corners on top of him. He'll be cowering on the line.
Get a one v one, he'll turn his back and maybe wave a foot at it.
Any of those you've about 95% chance of scoring.
He's gotta go.
 
I’m almost certain that if Henderson was playing we would’ve won this game comfortably.

I'm also certain that Henderson would’ve thrown himself at DCL for their 3rd goal and wouldn’t have pussied out like de gea.
 
I just have had enough of this. Terrible again and again. Not good enough to play top level anymore. Thanks Dave but enough is enough.
 
Even the free kick that we had at the end , why is he hitting it in the middle of the field rather than blasting it out to the corner flag ?

He was the best for a season or two but that's largely because he had no competition. The previous generation was no longer there, the next generation hadn't stepped up yet and Neuer was injured. De Gea and Oblak were the only goalkeepers of note and at that stage De Gea was probably a touch better.
 
Just saw that Digne hit the post when DDG looked to have his near post completely covered.

I think we should give Henderson a proper chance for the rest of the season, and if he's not up to it either then we look to buy a new GK.

It would be strange for Ole to persist with DDG, knowing he's just going to cost us more in the coming games.
 
I continue to be baffled at our inability to bring in Jan Oblak. Openly declared United fan, Cech/Schmeichel size, physics and posture.
Swap with DDG and give Atletico 20-40M £ depending on what wage they'll be willing to pay the tiny man..

Don't get me wrong, he's not as good as before and I'm sure we could upgrade at the end of the season if we wanted to spend another 50m. It does feel though that any mistake he makes gets pounced on quite quickly, which hasn't happened a lot this year as he's been relatively decent (I think we all agree on that?). He also made some class saves against Liverpool a few games back.

Don’t disagree with that at all, would be the logical move but dropping the GK after tonight is a fairly bold move from Ole.
 
Anyone know how long is left on his mega contract? Because at this moment in time I don't think we get rid any other way?

De Gea has been poor/average for two and a half seasons now. Maybe some idiots might write Henderson off after one bad match, but any sensible person would wait until he had a run of games and see how he goes. If he grows into the role then great, if not then we know that we may need to look outside the club.

Henderson will play against West Ham so hopefully he'll do well and then get a chance in the league.

I don't remember any class saves against Liverpool.

They barely created a chance all game.

The crucial thing here is it's been 3 seasons now. This isn't a blip, its a long slow obvious decline. He's only going to get worse.
 
Time for Ole to give Henderson a run of games and if he does well - keep him in the first 11. David's not been the same for third season in the row now.

Genuine question: if you were a scout judging De Gea off the last three seasons alone, what would you describe as his strengths?

In that time, he’s not even demonstrated being at the quality to play for sides in the bottom half of the league. Without his previously above average shot stopping, he offers nothing.

Yeah but it's been years now since he had a full great season, keeping in mind that he's supposed to be one of the best in the world. You need your goalkeeper to be reliable, and he keeps costing us points.

Can you think of any game, this season or last, where we won a game thanks to De Gea? With a genuinely top class keeper that should be a regular occurrence. With him, the exact opposite happens far more often.

Think that's fair.

If people are saying he's been as bad as he was in the last two seasons then they're wrong, he hasn't. And if they're saying he's constantly made mistakes this season then that's wrong too, a lot of goalkeepers including Alison and Ederson have made more than him.

But that doesn't mean he's really good enough atm either. He's been fairly mediocre this season.

This is what I've been saying.

The last time I can remember the whistle going for full time and thinking thank God for De Gea was when we beat Spurs 1-0 at Wembley right after Ole took over as caretaker manager.

That's 2 fecking years ago.

In the 2 years since I've genuinely lost count of the amount of games he's cost us.
 
Soft as shit. Still makes some superb saves but he’s such a wet wipe. Problem is, as others have said, I don’t think Henderson is an upgrade.
 
It's one of the major issues that needs to be addressed this Summer. You get kidded along at times when he has a run of quiet games with perhaps a decent save here and there. It's always there though this underlying issue and it needs to be resolved. How we go about it however, I don't know. Do we put our faith in Henderson next season, or enter the market? If we do enter the market, who do we target? One thing for sure is that De Gea isn't the answer and hasn't been for a couple of years.
