I'll be sad to see him go, if/when he leaves. Although, the brand of football we've began to play hopefully renders the goalkeeper position less crucial next season. Still, it's painful to think about with so many years left presumably remaining at the top of his game.

To me, it's very simple. If he wants to leave because of Edurne & settling down with his family, I can forgive him for that and wish him all the best. If he wants to leave because he thinks he can win more with Real Madrid and does not have faith in our team and our future, I would be very, very bitter indeed.
Obviously I'm not that objective, but I think he'd be crazy to leave. Staying with United, he'd have the chance to be involved in something truly special. What's more, he'd be revered by the fans, particularly when you consider his heroic performances during our transitional phase. Going to Real Madrid, he'd be joining a team already at the top, replacing a living legend in Casillas, and playing for the rivals of the team he came up with. It's very hard to imagine him ever being worshipped in the same way by Real fans, yet very easy to imagine him being blamed for any slips the team experiences. Even for Ronaldo, there have been turbulent moments, such is the demanding (or some might say, fickle,) nature of Real fans.
In the Ronaldo situation, it's easy to understand why he left: he was approaching the peak of his powers, and moving to a league in which scorers flourish made sense. As well, Real were in fairly bad shape (by their standards,) when he joined. None of that applies to De Gea.

Nah, I thought his intentions were clear behind the scenes and nailed on he was off when we singed Valdes, I swallowed the pain, its all just white noise now, just accept it and hope we can get a good fee from those c*nts, you'll feel better.

Replacing arguably Spain and Madrid's greatest ever keeper and being an improvement on him would be one of the biggest achievements he could possibly aim for, so in terms of long-term legacy there's something there. He's obviously struggling to break into the Spain team despite being the best keeper available and inevitably he would establish himself as first choice as soon as he replaces Casillas at club level so it makes sense in his career in the short-term too. There's obviously a variety of personal reasons to go along with it that in all likelihood are more important for him than the sporting reasons.
He won't get the same adoration at Madrid but beyond that there's not a lot he'll be losing out on.

Some of the informations in that article have to be bogus. I mean, the salary is somewhat realistic, but I have a really hard time believing that De Gea currently has a 25 Mil. € release clause in his contract. Why would United have agreed to that back in 2011 when they signed him for 20 Mil. €?
IF and this is a big if De Gea actually demands a release clause of 30 Mil € United would do themselves no favoures in extending a contract. He would be a topic for them in every Summer because he is definitely worth that much.

Facts are Madrid is home to him, he has a stunning missus who lives there and a greedy agent who will be reminding him of this everyday...... verdict either done this summer or he signs a new deal but goes the following summer, he wont be here long term guys.
