but at the end of the day that money is not really the issue for either RM or us. It would not slow them down and probably would not change what our transfer budget is for this summer. It won't cause us FFP issues if we get less. Nor cause us any sort of financial difficulties.
Remember we already got a return for the fee we paid. From an accounting standpoint we have already written off most of that. I doubt we would see our transfer budget affected much if at all by his sale.

The teams would have more power under the Free agency system not the players. In the case of De Gea he would have to honour his contract or demand a trade to Madrid so that we benefit getting a player. In the U.S. its either you honour your entire contract or you leave via trade and the team gets player(s) in return.

My opinion regarding a couple of posts.
Essien and Carvalho could have left earlier. Drogba would have been quite a prime target for any big club that looks to improve its striker department. Even Cech could have gone to Italy a long time ago.
TBH, I can see his point. During the last preseason tour (or the one before that, I can't remember), Real Madrid were playing in the US amidst strong rumors that Ronaldo would tell Real to feck off with any proposal for a new contract. I remember there was on Real Madrid fan running on the pitch, hugging Ronaldo, and begging him to stay (like your sweaty teenager). I can't blame that guy (the one you're replying to) for not trying to find ways to keep DDG with us. After all, if Real fans were genuinely scared shitless of what would happen in the case they lost Ronaldo, why wouldn't we about the prospect of losing DDG?

You don't think we would have signed another top class winger who may well have stayed longer and negated the idea of ever buying Valencia?
You think Vidic and Evra leaving towards the end of their career, after giving their peaks to Manchester United is somehow comparable?

You want players who will finish their careers at United so you obviously don't agree with our signing of Ronaldo, Vidic or Evra.

No because Madrid don't like defensive midfielders or none flashy strikers and Barcelona prefer more technical players.
What is your opinion on Hughes career choices ?
I want players who sign for Manchester United with the intention of seeing out their careers at United. I would never criticise a great player who has given their all to the club, leaving at the end of their career when it's clear they may no longer be sure of a starting place, as was the case for Vidic and Evra.
I'm not sure if you're being deliberately childish because I reckon that much was pretty clear.
As for Ronaldo and De Gea, I could live without them if they're not fully committed to the club. There will always be other good players.

Wasn't Hughes sold by the club to Barcelona for a record fee rather than forcing a move himself?
Also, he returned to the club at 25 and spent his peak with us.
He then left again, well into his 30's for first team football. It's a very different case.
I was too young really to be affected by Mark Hughes career. I wouldn't think of him as a legend in the way I would Bruce, Robson, Giggs, Scholes, Keane, Vidic, Evra amongst others though.
The best players will always be fought over. If you want a player you're sure you can keep hold of for their entire career then they have to either be home grown like Giggs and Scholes or players not good enough to attract serious interest in the first place. It's just the way it is and you can't make a top level team from just youth products anymore. It's better to have great players for some amount of time than not have them at all. A club like United will always have some great players on the books, even if who those players are changes every 5 years or so.
Honestly guys, I can't just keep repeating myself over and over again until you understand. Sooner or later you are going to have to start actually reading what I'm saying or we may as well all give up.
I am complaining about us signing young players, spending a fortune in time and money on developing them, and then allowing ourselves to be bullied into selling them to Real Madrid. I believe it harms the image and standing of our club.
I don't care if that player is Ronaldo, De Gea or Lionel Messi. I don't think the playing ability of any player is worth more than the integrity of the club.
As for the comment about me posting without using little jibes, have a read back over the last few pages and please tell me you can see the irony in that sentence?
