I just sent the clip through the Google-Lipcast and I can calm some of you down. This is roughly what they said:

LvG: So, have you dumped your girlfriend yet?
DdG: Sigh...no...
LvG: Why not?
DdG: She's up there in the stands. She'll punch me.

I know that the track record proves that Ed is a great businessman, but he lacks that ruthless streak that many top CEOs have. I guess it's a lot like how we play also...

"He won't leave easily."

Give us a feck load of cash, in other words. Think Bale will certainly be a part of any deal.

Brilliant.

I'm gonna miss him, he has been class. Shame he didn't stay for 2 more years.

We move on though and getting a good fee will make it a bit easier to deal with.

He's got another 15 years or so playing time. Give us another 2 or 3, Dave. I know you'll be reading this.

Can't believe you came up with that by yourself.

His injury looked stagey and then he barely looked up as he was chanted off by the fans, very disheartening. Personally unless Real offer us a player I'd tell them to feck themselves and make De Gea see out his contract.

not if you have no balls....

He does strike me as quite a timid sort of character. The fact that he didnt really indicate anything to the fans when he came off, and that he hasnt come out in the open and stated his intentions. I think he is a bit afraid of the flak and criticism he may receive.
I thought the same about his on-the-pitch characteristics when he first joined. Obviously as a keeper he has had to learn to be a bit more vocal and commanding, but I dont think it is natural for him at all.

We've basically become Madrid's feeder club, having given them Beckham, Van Nistelrooy, Heinze, Ronaldo and now De Gea in the last decade
Not true - Fergie wanted rid of Becks, Van Nistelroy & Heinze.

It's just Ronaldo and now Dave

SAF wanted rid of three of those.

Only Ronaldo and DDG (most likely) will have gone there against our wishes.

Yeah I agree with this analysis. It makes it all the more interesting how he's gonna react if he has a bad spell at Madrid at some point and the fans get on his case. He's definitely sneaky but certainly not confident...

Yes but the reality is that the club needs to win national and European titles again in order to be competitive against Real... there's nothing we can do about it. Being successful on and off the pitch is the only way.

Some people think we're getting £40m+, or players like Varane and Bale as part of the deal.:lol:

We've had a number done on us here. Madrid, De Gea and Mendes must be pissing themselves.

He will develop into one of the all-time great goalkeepers over the next few years, and we won't even come closing to getting the right value for him

Not really because we were the best club in England and Europe when Ronaldo wanted to leave us

It's baffling how often this has to be pointed out.

Well it's not strictly true, Ruud started acting a tool and wanting release clauses entered into his contract when Real started to pursue him,
it just took Sir Alex a further year to get fed up with his attitude and ship him out because of it, but it was still originally started from the fact he wanted out to Madrid.
Edit. Ruud sorry, not RvP. :D

If he's afraid of the flak he'd get off United supporters for wanting to leave, then he'd be in for a huge shock if he went through a bad spell at Real! They'd absolutely decimate him there. The least he could do is come out and tell us what he wants to do. I think the supporters would respect him for doing so more than anything!

He needs to sign a new contract so we can get a lot of money for him. The least he can do.

Yep. Makes me hate the fact that we're still doing business with Mendes, absolutely cannot stand the bastard. But De Gea in my opinion, was always waiting for Iker Casillas's position to become weakened before committing to Madrid. I really think this is at the heart of it. Doubt very much it's the girlfriend all of a sudden, they've had a long distance relationship for years, what's one or two more years? Don't buy it. I reckon he always had his eye on going to Madrid and waited until Casillas could no longer consign him to the bench. Real sneaky our Dave:D

Embarrassing comments. Fecking sour grapes. Never mind that he's already one of the best in the world.

Stop being naive. Do you really think most of these players give a shite about what us fans think or anyone else for that matter?

Edit - thought you referencing another comment for a moment hence my reply (at heads gone today)

Love LVG though, his habit of telling the truth straight upfront is amazing. Now just decide a price and tell Madrid we want this and at least show to them that with our financial strength if they don't offer what we want we will make him play out his contract. They have had a poor season and need him so I am sure they will stump up the money

I honestly think he's still undecided and I'm hoping the fans today have swayed him to stay.
