Pretty much gone. Gutted. I'm convinced we did everything we could do.
Definitely. Not much more the club can do but to offer him a truckload of money, unfortunately that doesn't seem to be enough.

Isn't it time for you to reset another Fellaini poll?
2 now (I changed mine to no a few weeks ago so wasn't me)Oof, yes and no separated by 4 votes. I predict No winning by the end of today.

No wonder they want a new keeper.
I am sure we offered him as much as Madrid are offering him. Maybe even more. He just wants to go back to Madrid, plain and simple.
I hope on his debut he does what Keylor Navas just did.
Never understood why players pander to their girlfriends. Ronaldo has the best mentality when it comes to women. No commitment or distraction. Fully focused on his game. Got a girl pregnant? No problem just pay her to stay away.
Proper mentality. Feck him if goes.I hope he does it every match..
There's absolutely no chance he goes for 20M. He is a great fit for "the philosophy" so if I were LvG I would keep that stable while other component parts fully settle. One year from now he can unsettle thing changing keeper but not now IMO.I'd rather we didn't had him at all if he buggers off on the cheap to Real.
Seriously what has been the point, we invested £20m in him, we had to wait 2 years until he finally started putting in performances that warranted that investment and now that he has finally come into the player that we wanted him to be and could start earning back our investment he'll probably bugger off to Real for £20m. Conclusion we have lost 4 years with De Gea and got nothing in return. Yes Real Madrid have got something in return, they'll have a topnotch goalkeeper on the cheap and they will run away with the fruits of our investment.
If players don't have to show loyalty we don't have to show them any loyalty either. In fact we don't own him anything, if he just an employee of the club that don't care about anything else but his paycheck than he just did his job and got paid every week end of story. Nothing to do about gratitude, what did De Gea do that we should be happy about ? Investing our time and money in him so he can become a better player and than running down his contract so he can go Real Madrid for smallchange ? Because if he has no loyalty to us then the only thing he did was just playing goalkeeper which is exactly what he got paid to do, so I see no point in us being gratefull for any of it really.
Complete bollocks of a post.
How can you compare professional football to a regular career? All of the externalities in football make it completely unique. Fans buying season tickets, match day tickets, merchandise etc., make significant ongoing investments in the club. For many folk, football represents the primary form of stress release from every day life, and bonds people across social divides.
So of course fans will have an opinion, and feelings, on when players leave or turn their back on the club. They've made an emotional and financial investment in that player. Let's not equate it with Dave from your local Topman branch deciding to move jobs.
And when one talks about players loving the shirt and not wanting to play somewhere else, what we are talking about here is them not actively seeking moves, and being committed to the cause. Of course the top players would leave if the stadium was half empty, wages were crap, and the team didn't compete. What's your point? Because this has never been the case at United, and never will be. Which makes wanting to leave an even more personal decision.
Is it true LVG mentioned that his gf is spanish and he's spanish and sthing like that..

Spot on.Only a raging weirdo that takes football too seriously would be "disgusted" with De Gea. He wants to live back home and play for another great club, it isn't a big deal and it isn't really an issue. And it certainly isn't something for a group of oddballs on the internet to get up in arms about. If De Gea wants to settle down in sunnier climes and start a family then it really isn't that strange at all.
Reality check for you. There isn't a single player at Manchester United as of now that "loves the shirt and doesn't want to be anywhere else." Players are here because the club pays monumental wages, there is a great chance of winning trophies and the stadium presents an opportunity to play infront of nearly 80,000 punters. If and when that changes, they'll be off in a flash, in the same way you or I will do in our own personal career's moving forward.
Just 1 vote between Yes and No. Who will make the change?!
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has given the clearest indication yet that they face the prospect of losing goalkeeper David De Gea to Real Madrid.
De Gea went off with a hamstring injury during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford, which makes him a doubt for United's last match of the season at Hull City next weekend - and means he may have played his final game for the club.
Real have earmarked the 24-year-old Spain international as the successor to veteran keeper Iker Casillas, and he is sure to be tempted by the possibility rejoining his family and girlfriend in his homeland, according to Van Gaal.
The Dutchman said he did not know if Real had made an offer but added: "He is Spanish, he is a Spanish international.
"He is still behind Casillas but now a Spanish club is coming. His girlfriend is Spanish and his father and mother come over every week or two weeks to watch him - it is difficult for him."
The United boss insisted he would not be doing any more to persuade De Gea, who has one more season left on his contract, to sign a new deal, explaining: "I don't think I can persuade him because he knows everything that he has at Manchester United at this moment.
"I don't have to say anything for the benefit of Manchester United because he can feel everything. The crowd has been unbelievable. You have seen that reaction here. It has been unbelievable, for the team and for him individually.
"When he is going he is losing that because here he has a lot of credits."
Van Gaal added: "A transfer is a process involving a player, a club and his present club. He has to choose.
"It is not easy to choose between two great clubs. We would be very happy if he stays. Of course he is Spanish and his girlfriend is Spanish and he can go to another great club, so it is difficult for him to decide.
"David De Gea shall not leave us so easily because we are a great club and he wants to participate."
In the press this morning you read Real want to pay 12-15mill...
What the actual feck? for that fee we should keep him for the year and let him walk after.
He's worth that type of money back in performances on the pitch for a year... and oh, and if Real say they're prepared to wait for another season.. you may just have a transfer ban imposed.
Make sure we get a good fee Woody.
Remember Keane and his "prawn sandwich brigade" jibe at the fans.Because De Gea, like you and I, is a human being with emotions like everybody else, irrespective of his chosen profession. If he will be a happier man in Madrid and decides to move there then all power to him. Or would people rather he stay somewhere he'd rather not be out of some overstated loyalty to some knuckle-dragging, bone-headed football fans that have inflated their role above and beyond the pointless entity it really is?
Football fans can feel as involved as they want, but they have no right to be "disgusted," or whatever word it was you used, at the possibility of De Gea choosing to leave. Being a bit narked that the best goalkeeper is leaving is understandable. Wishing he would rather stay is of course normal. But any overwhelming sense of injustice in regards to what a grown man has chosen to do for the perceived betterment of his life is taking things far too seriously.
As for being committed to the cause. On this season's evidence then I think it's fair to say that he has been. Come the summer, he'll just move and commit to another cause in another country. No biggie, really.
