There's just no way that's true.
Louis van Gaal has admitted to not being entirely convinced by goalkeeper David De Gea at the start of his Manchester United tenure.

Former Netherlands boss Van Gaal said of De Gea in The Times: "He has made very good development this year because in the beginning I was not so sure of him.

"But now he is fantastic and has saved us a lot of times."

Well that can't of helped!

Crikey. Were there not rumours that they had 'fell out' or simply didn't like each other. If Dave is a sensitive lad, then I guess LVG not having a great deal of confidence in him initially won't have helped.

He hinted at this when he gave DDG the Fan's Player of the Year award.

Yes, I am aware it is the Mirror, but..

David De Gea's move to Real Madrid is done, claims Bernabeu keeper Iker Casillas

Iker Casillas has hinted that David de Gea's move to Real Madrid is a done deal and claims he is relishing competing against him.

De Gea has still to publicly announce if he will stay at Manchester United or return to his native Madrid to sign for Real.

Casillas believes he will soon be his team-mate at the Bernabeu and claims his experience at Old Trafford will help him adapt.

The Real goalkeeping legend believes De Gea has the potential to succeed him as No 1.

"I'm delighted with the competition," he told Spanish TV. "My contract does not say you have to start.

"I would like to finish my career here.

"De Gea is a really nice boy and a goalkeeper for the present and future. He'll be well received and helped.

"We'll compete. He can handle the pressure and will be served from his experience at United."

How true this/the quotes are I have no idea, just posting the stories as I see em...

The quotes are true I believe. The headline is grossly misleading as he's just talking hypothetical.

Hypothetical or not, if what those quotes are true then i think it's almost inevitable in the coming weeks.
Eh? Him saying that DDG "might" come to RM, means he will definitely come?

While I think it's almost certain that DDG will go to Madrid, there's nothing extra here to suggest that Casillas knows more than just reading the rumours in the papers on this.

So it's gone from "if the speculation that de gea is coming to Madrid is true, then I will enjoy the competition." To "when he joins and takes my job". Great twisting mirror.

I fail to see any evidence of De Gea being affected in any way this season. Lad has improved every season regardless of the teams form or manager.
If he joins Real he'll have to continue to show the same faith in his own ability at that circus!

The Mirror basically deal in fictional writing.

His whole silent treatment thing is becoming very annoying. Obviously the clowns who write the papers and all their misleading crap don't help.

Not on the pitch, just in terms of wanting to move away. Obviously, these things are impossible to measure or tell, but had LVG been very confident in him from the start then he may perhaps be more inclined to stay.

If he was staying he would've signed the contract by now. Season's ended, he's been offered a lot of money and nothing should be stopping him from signing unless he intends to leave. I think he's just playing for time to see what Real Madrid are ready to offer him like playing time and financial package.

Exactly, its obvious at this point that he wants to go, but he's waiting to see if real actually go for him and how they resolve the issue with casillas. If Iker's quotes are true and hes staying, then maybe dave will rethink leaving and risk not starting every week. So by the looks of it, either way we're fecked.

I have seen you in the first matches and I have seen you in the second part of the season and you have developed your self more than any player of Manchester United.

Yep and for a split second David made a weird face, as in dude I've been the best player here all season what you on about mate

He would have signed by now, or he would have said... something?... ANYTHING to the biblical volume of speculation in both Spain and England if he had any intention what.so.ever of staying.
I just hope Real pony up the dough early this summer so we can move on with our planning quickly.

If de Gea would rather be at Madrid with Benitez than here under Van Gaal, then he can fecking do one.

I personally still think he'll stay, but it's getting to the point where I feel our fans deserve to hear something.

Can't disagree with this.

Agree that we should hear something soon. However going to Real isn't about playing under 'x' manager rather than another, seeing as they don't last longer than 1.3 years. And dave has another 15 minimum in him

Yeah, but actually leaving United, Van Gaal and these fans to go directly to Benitez and those fans...

Tbf Dave did let 5 in vs MK Dons early in the season, plus Leicester (though there were mitigating circumstances), so maybe these things skewed LVG's first impressions of him?

Which is why it's taking ages. Shit club with shit manager and shit fans is still the biggest club in the world - and Spanish like Dave.

I agree it's mind boggling that players still want to go there, even though there's a guarantee that they'll be booed no matter what, along with zero stability and a shocking return of silverware. But if you're Spanish - and Casillas heir - it's totally understandable why you'd join the biggest circus in the world.

I'm resigned to him leaving (and us getting 50 quid for him).

Even if he doesn't leave this year, I think it's clear that he will end up in Madrid within another year or two.

Ive been wierdly optimistic about this all season but the longer this drags into the summer the less likely it is that he stays.

Waited till CL qualification for news - nothing.
Waited till end of season for news - nothing.
Waiting till Rafa joins Real for news - something?

Or shall I just admit he's gone already...
