I like De Gea as a keeper and will continue to do so as long as he is here. When he leaves, he instantly transforms to a cnut of the highest order. Until then, he is a top guy.If he signs an extension and spouts the usual bollocks players spout about loving the club, what'll be the general feeling towards him form the fans?
They'll never ever forgive the rotten traitor. If he signs an extension and spouts the usual bollocks players spout about loving the club, what'll be the general feeling towards him form the fans?
Transfer request weakens United position significantly.
I'd get Lloris in and stick the cnut [De Gea] in the stands for the whole season.
That would be terrible management and is something I'd expect a 5 year old to do. I assume that you are young and frustrated, so I wont take what you are saying seriously.
If he stays, great. If he leaves (for a good fee), then we will find another keeper and life will go on.
Personally, I'd like to hold onto him for at least 1 more year.
There is talk that we will sell DDG, if we get Ramos. My take on it is that Ramos is untested in the EPL and could fail spectacularly in our league. DDG is tried and tested in our league is fantastic.
I think Ramos and DDG is not a fair swap. We are taking all the risks (on Ramos) while Madrid are getting the best GK in the World.
Wouldn't hate him, wouldn't love him but glad to cheer for him as long as he's playing well and not mouthing off to the press. Would expect him to be gone by next year though, think that's the only way an extension gets signed. If he signs an extension and spouts the usual bollocks players spout about loving the club, what'll be the general feeling towards him form the fans?
He didn't go Ramos on us so there's no logical reason to suddenly hate him whatsoever. If he signs an extension and spouts the usual bollocks players spout about loving the club, what'll be the general feeling towards him form the fans?

The childish part of your post is 'stick the cnut in the stands for the whole season', not refusing to sell him. It's not childish.
There is no point in selling De Gea for a cut price. Get top dollar or he stays.
Fortunately, this seems to be the club's stance.
He didn't go Ramos on us so there's no logical reason to suddenly hate him whatsoever.
Hey venting bad emotions can be healthy. I reckon Dean Saunders' feelings didn't suffer a lot that day anyway.I agree that there's no logical reason but when did that ever stop football fans?
I remember a game where Chelsea fans (including myself) were booing Dean Saunders (he ended the career of a Chelsea player a few years earlier) as he was warming up on the other side of the pitch until we realised it wasn't actually Dean Saunders. We carried on booing anyway.
It's been said before but usually it's the signings they make in their attack that are more gung-ho. A goalkeeper won't excite their fans. Why are Madrid so half arsed with going about their way to sign him anyway? The Madrid we all know, typically just steam in and pay whatever it takes to get their man.
If his remarks were justified or not is a different debate (and at that time they weren't justified at all as we were either winning the PL or losing it just by one point or goal difference - and this went on 3 years after Rooney made the comments, and three years is a very long time in football).
However that's not even the issue. Ppl probably discuss the quality of their teammates in private at times, but to openly criticise them is out of order. Who the hell did Rooney think he is? By that logic Messi should issue statements critisizing the gap between him and his Barca teammates almost every 2nd year.
Edit: just saw your completely vindicated comment, don't agree with it and in addition Rooney himself has been on the decline for a few years now, it's not like he has been on Ronaldo/Messi mode or close to it.
David De Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Some may argue he's the best. Definitely right up there. Sergio Ramos is a good defender, but he is not one of the best around. And allegedly Real Madrid are demanding world record type money for him. It should be the other way around. Ramos is 29. No way is he worth what they want. We should be valuing DDG at huge money, even with only a year left of his contract.
That's a good point indeed. It's been said before but usually it's the signings they make in their attack that are more gung-ho. A goalkeeper won't excite their fans.
Even our resident Real Madrid fans are nearly indifferent to the potential signing of de Gea, even though he's the best 'keeper in the world.
The childish part of your post is 'stick the cnut in the stands for the whole season', not refusing to sell him.
He won't sell many shirts, so he's worthless [/madrid logic]That's a good point indeed.
I'm not being precious, I was just pointing out how you conveniently left that part out when you responded and said "Childish? Me? Never"Christ, didn't realise everyone was so precious.
I was being facetious.
If he signs an extension and spouts the usual bollocks players spout about loving the club, what'll be the general feeling towards him form the fans?

It's true in principle, but it was never going to work that way.
-Firstly, De Gea is still somewhat underrated by many, and Ramos is seriously overrated. FIFA World XI regular, etc.
-Secondly, despite the logic of it young players - even those like DDG who are already established world class - still tend to go for less than older, longer-established players, not more.
-Thirdly, goalkeepers are always much cheaper than outfield players. Again, it makes little logical sense but that's the way it is.
-Fourthly, United never get big fees when we sell players. Ronaldo being the exception that proves the rule. Mostly because we only sell when we either don't want the player any more or the player is demanding the move and we have no leverage.
I'm pretty confident Woody will stick to his guns in terms of refusing to pay more for Ramos than we get for De Gea, effectively saying it's a swap or nothing. In an ideal world, Ramos would actually be worth less than De Gea. But I'd be happy enough as long as we don't end up paying more for him, which really would be a travesty.
It's childish to punish him by having him sitting in the stands, while buying a replacement that's worse than he is on the pitch. Not to mention the financial irresponsibility of it.I don't think it's childish to hold someone to a contract to send out a signal, especially since the cost to us wouldn't be that grave.
Your original quote stated, "I'd get Lloris in and stick the cnut [De Gea] in the stands for the whole season."It's not childish.

Maybe if we can stall this until he has to report back for pre-season, Van Gaal and Woodward can then pressure him into signing a new contract,
If it was United doing this people would be whining all day long about how awful we are at transfersWhy are Madrid so half arsed with going about their way to sign him anyway? The Madrid we all know, typically just steam in and pay whatever it takes to get their man.
True that. Give it a few days and people will be blaming us for being unable to sell De Gea quickly enough. If it was United doing this people would be whining all day long about how awful we are at transfers
Why are Madrid so half arsed with going about their way to sign him anyway? The Madrid we all know, typically just steam in and pay whatever it takes to get their man.
Because it's a one horse race for a player who has a year left on his deal and can be signed for nothing in a year. They think we'll fold and, let's be honest, history suggests we will. Why are Madrid so half arsed with going about their way to sign him anyway? The Madrid we all know, typically just steam in and pay whatever it takes to get their man.
I honestly think they were expecting to get him for peanuts.
You want to talk about reality, ivaldo? What kind of professional football player has a comitted and publicly sickening relationship at the age of 24? What kind of man is this? I have to question his understanding of the planet on which we live. There are few men in the world in a better position to have a variety of relationships with a variety of women who will not put demands on him or his career that he does not want. The time to settle down and focus on one woman is when his career is winding down, THEN and only then do you pick out a younger woman and start taking lame pictures on instagram.
But Dave won't listen to reason, he won't listen to his agent, and he sure as feck doesn't understand how all this works. The dumb bastard probably thinks he's found "the one" and will be "in love" for all Edurnity.
That is just what they thought, player they want and he wants to play for them , in his last year, I bet they dont want to spend over £12-15m and definitely not the £30m+ we are asking for.I honestly think they were expecting to get him for peanuts.
