Sad day,Iker is leaving. He didn't manage well his last days and the club either. Some of those offensive tweets come from "Mourinhistas",calling him topo(snitch).Every day they are less although they are still very noisy.Casilla is a good option to be substitute.
Do you think Navas will start ahead of Casilla?

Too much change could set us back though. Why not keep De Gea and buy Oblak this summer, then ease him in over the course of the season? :D

The reason is simple, I will think as any manager of a company will do, Oblak is a great prospect who already showed that he was good enough to start and he would cost less or around what we will get for De Gea, so the logical thing to do is to sell De Gea for as much as we can and buy Oblak with a part of that money.

I don't think that he worth the 25-35 millions a season that some are willing to throw through the window, I think that Oblak for example is excellent and buying him with Real's money will give us the opportunity to strengthen greatly the team in 2016 with the 30m that we don't have to spend on a goalkeeper.

The number of people that assume that De Gea is "off" because Real have sold Casillas, haha. Whether they sign De Gea or not, Casillas was clearly not going to be their number 1 keeper next season and they have been trying to offload him for sometime now but could not due to his huge pay off. De Gea is definitely not off because of this. United are playing it well, if De Gea and Mendes [whom I've never been a fan of] are so desperate to join Real Madrid then let them push Perez to agree on our terms, it's as simple as that. You are one of the best GK's in the world, playing at a club that has NEVER held any player against their will, you're managed by an agent who this club has indulged severally, and yet, you decide that the best way for you to get a move away is to refuse to sign a contract that would atleast give us a better leverage on the matter, forget about that friends, relatives and hometown bullshit, this is actually very disappointing to say the very least.
Well said. Had De Gea and that worm Mendes not tried to treat United like shit - Dave would be tucked up in Edurne's bed right now looking forward to the Real Madrid tour and being their No.1.

Mendes is a tool, should have made sure Dave signed an extension before having any discussion with Fiorentino Perez over Dave. Would have put Dave and United in a better bargaining position.

Please Ed Woodward, do not give in to that lot - the only way Dave should be transferred is on our terms alone.

Double negative :nono:

What on earth do you mean?
Given that the rest of the post suggests that I think that Valdes isn't leaving, I'd have expected someone like you to put 2 and 2 together and realise that the first line of my post was a typo. You've disappointed me, Colin.

United are in a strong position, they need a keeper and we don't have to sell. They may have to go elsewhere.

Yeah he was clearly becoming a liability. And Real have aleady put in a bit for Espanyol's keeper. Espanyol want 10M for him, but Real only offered 3M. They are tighter than a Camel's arse in a sandstorm.

Either RM are thinking everyone else around is stupid with the ridiculously low bids or they are in really deep shit financially.

Real Madrid and Perez also have to consider the financial implications of the Bernabeu's planned £330 million renovation.

That alone should put a dent in their transfer plans for a couple of seasons at the very least.

I think that David will start ahead of Casilla :),but in case that we can't buy him the starter position in uncertain
David Navas? Did he have a name change? Can't think of another David who plays for you...

Wasn't the city Sheikh going to fund the work in exchange for the "Santiago Bernabeu" being renamed "Abu Dhabi Bernabeu"?

As far as know (could be wrong), IPIC/ CESPA have a shady assistance deal but the details are not 100% confirmed as of now (AS reported that the minor details were sorted but dunno) because the stadium sponsorship deal has been greeted by a lot of opposition from socio members and supporters who are opposed to monetizing an iconic symbol of the club. Even if it goes through without any major internal resistance, the sum will be paid in parts of £15 million per year (reportedly) rather than up front at once, whereas the renovation/ modernisation work is expected to wrapped up by 2017 or 2018.

@carvajal would be more informed on this topic.

Am just curious, did Real made a bid for DDG yet?

I believe they did - they put in a low-ball offer.
MUFC stated that they want more.
DDG wants to go to Madrid, but has not yet put in a transfer request.
DDG is now with the rest of the MUFC team and is due to fly out to the USA in the next few days, for the pre-season tour.

MUFC are not going to reduce their asking price and will be quite happy to keep DDG for another year. If Madrid want the deal to happen, they are the ones who need to push for it.
Madrid usually get their way, so the question has to be, "what are they waiting for?"

Cassilas off to Porto?

Strangest transfer if ever. Porto hardly ever by players that they can't sell on without a huge profit, I'm shocked they are buying one of the best pair GK's in Europe who is 34 years old

You have let yourself down, don't try to deflect the blame. Make your apologies and move on.

The Bernabeu project hit a snag over planning consents. There's an environmental objection to the loss of parkland near the ground (which would be reinstated in a different position). There's also a land swap required between Madrid council and the club, and this has been put on hold as the "public interest" case for the deal was not proven - the council has now changed hands and the new leadership might not accept the deal at all. If the remodel goes ahead the chances are that it will need a redesign and/or more money.

Ah alright, cheers.

I wasn't being serious, guess I should've included some white text. They're both too good to be happy on the bench for that amount of time.

Madrid are going to have to make one sweet offer to budge Woodward out of the way. The man can't be stopped at the moment. His antics will merely put fear in Madrid's eyes. Don't think they've realised that they aren't messing with some chancer here - this guy is Ed fecking Woodward.

With Casillas gone, Madrid have no first choice keeper and United have the only one they apparently want. So it's either time to put up what United want, or suffer for a year until they can get him for free.

I reckon this is a done deal until United have signed a keeper. No way Madrid part company with Casillas without knowing they have someone first class coming in.

LENO. Let De Gea have his wish, and hopefully it doesn't work out as he wishes long-term.

Why not? He wasn't even first choice any more. They've still got Navas, who was good last season, and they're close to bringing in Kiko Casilla to replace his near-namesake as Navas' competition (and the Spanish representative). The idea that Casillas' departure somehow leaves them desperate is a load of bs.

As far as I can see, we've gone in hard with this widely reported 'Ramos + Navas or no De Gea' stance mostly just to block the whole deal. We'll get David for another year, and Woodward will know that the situation could well be very different by this time next year.

There is no way Madrid is going to have Navas as their starting GK. They definitely have a replacement in mind.

Navas played 10 games last season. He didn't even debut until late September last season.

There is no way Madrid would risk having him as first choice.
