Well it was just an idea. Maybe I can't get my head around why he wants to join that Real Madrid circus. He can easily make just as much playing for us. Actually probably even more.
Players are self conceited and they usually like the show created around them.The circus is usually in the offices,inside the dressing room is like another top team but with the press looking for conspirations and soap operas.

Ok all last season and into the summer I've been totally convinced De Gea will go to Madrid in this transfer window. For the first time I'm beginning now to think me might not. Even contemplating changing my vote.

The boy just wants to play for Madrid and be Spain's No.1. In fact, I would go as far as to say that he probably always wanted to play for Madrid. Like another poster has said, I don't believe he's doing it for Miss Edurnity. She's the icing on the cake maybe, but not his primary reason for going there. No doubt Mendez knew about his plans from the moment he became De Gea's agent. However, Casillas was not for moving and Dave, although talented, was not world class at that point. So Man Utd was the stop gap until everything fell into place imho.
It was suggested earlier in the summer by some of the Spanish gossip papers that seem so popular over there that moving to Real has been his ultimate goal for ages, starting whilst still at Atletico. I believe the story went that he had hired Mendes with that goal in mind to get him eventually to Real, and we were just used to avoid a difficult Atletico to Real move.
Of course a good 90% of what these gossip papers have been saying this summer has been crap, but it can't be ruled-out based on what we know.
Yeah. Usually I would ignore that kind of gossip. But his behaviour leads me to believe that this story was true all along. He's been refusing for ages to renew his contract with us, so I can totally believe it was always his plan.
No problem for me, just get Real to pay what we want, or wait until next season.

If we are talking in terms of £, 21-25 is acceptable, 26-30 would be great, 31-35 would be excellent. For more than 36, I'd hire an escort in Manchester to blow Ed.
Yeah but to be fair the last two seasons we've been poor and won nothing. We'll want to start the season right and maybe that will convince him. That said, it don't make sense that's he's not openly said he wants to leave. Strange.
A swap deal with Ramos would be my preferred choice, but it is not very likely. I would sell him this summer for 25m Sterling.

Ronaldo was full of shit though. It's funny actually, he won everything at United and so he used it as an excuse to leave. Can't make that excuse at Madrid can you Ronaldo? Bet you been dying to leave for ages....I think De Gea is not very brave and if Mendes is involved? Then it explains a lot.
He has made his intentions clear by not signing a contract extension he hasn't gone mouthing off to the press which makes a nice change

Yeah, I believe Real was actually the plan all along. Valencia got rid of his agent once he was at United. De Gea got Mendez when it was almost a certainty that he'd sign for us.

I'd keep him for next season, only because of the amount of signings we've made already. Bedding in half the first team AND a keeper might just be a bit much.

That was one helluva plan! :-) The boy was always going to be a world class goalkeeper, just needed to engage his adult head and leave the gormless boy behind.
Great player, one of the best i have ever seen playing but i dont really consider him a United legend. I think in order to be a United legend you have to give your best playing years to this club instead of giving it to another club.
Also Ronaldo left for a world record fee, de Gea wil leave for nothing or a fee below his value. That is also a big difference to me.

If nothing Ronaldo signed a contract so we could get a fee, DDG didnt even do that even though he wants to go to Madrid. Ok go to Madrid but have some respect towards United too.Ronaldo didn't have to sign the contract extension, but he chose to as a matter of respect to United and Sir Alex with the understanding he would move to Real the season after. Whilst I was very disappointed he left, at least we got a world record fee (at the time) for his departure and he got a lot of good will amongst many of United fans. You can still hear "Viva Ronaldo" being sung fairly regularly.

Exactly. I know he's from Spain and probably didnt have any connection with Manchester United before joining us and he sees playing football for us as a job but he could show a bit more gratitude/respect.
If he joined Real Madrid and he was performing like he did in his first season in England while the media were also attacking him every chance they got just like the English media did, Real Madrid would have bought another GK and sold him while Manchester United and Fergie protected him and gave him every chance to developed in the world class GK he is today.

Now he has a situation in which we dont want to sell him for whatever low fee Madrid is offering or want Ramos in return and he doesnt want to come out and say he wants out. So he didnt act like a gentleman and there's no reason why we should act like that.
The difference between an outstanding performance on the pitch and a poor one is about £70m for us.
To value De Gea's contribution for a single season at £36m plus is probably pushing it.
