I won't be surprised if Perez has promised a nice fat cheque to Mendes if he makes sure De Gea doesn't sign an extension.
He's came across as a sly cnut in all this saga. I prefer people who act as a cnut on face rather then on backside. If he's so keen to leave, with only a year left on his contract a a minimal "loyalty" bonus to lose it really is a wonder why he hasn't put a transfer request in and made it public.
The only logic behind it is that a transfer request would tarnish his legacy with us United fans.... as if it would make any difference whatsoever. If he leaves after this long saga it'll be clear all along that he's done all he could to push for the move so a transfer request means feck all in the grand scheme of things.
Sorry lads but I believe it's inevitable he returns to Spain, sooner than later
Nobody doubts this.
The only questions is: when?
I am hoping that he stays for this year and if we do well this year and he falls out of love with Madrid, then maybe he signs a new long term contact...who knows?
Not to mention Romero now with Lloris out of contention.Sign that extension already you goof. Can't have both our keepers leave in the same window. I'm dreading Lindegaard and Cillessen as our first team GK pair next season.![]()

He is young, world class and our best player by a distance, won us many points too. 35m is the minimum I could accept only because he has 1 year left in his contract and won't renew it. Otherwise I won't sell him even with 50-60m offer.
I'd want more than that.
The best player at MANCHESTER UNITED does not get sold for £35M. Madrid seem to ask £60M for their best players (Di Maria, Ramos), so why would we sell for £35M, especially now that Lloris is injured and there are no top class replacements available.
Hell, even Tottenham wouldnt sell their best player for such a low price.
Real Madrid have us by the balls. They know DDG wants them and no one else and even £200k a week is not keeping him. We either get some money for him now, less in Jan and have to pay more for a replacement, or accept that he'll go on free and it works out a very expensive season.
With so many good keepers out there we really need to cut our losses with the best sale this year we can get. The advantage is that Madrid have sold Cassilas so will be keen to get a top keeper in ASAP. They should have kept him until the deal was sorted for DDG, but who knows it might already be agreed behind the scenes and just waiting for us to buy someone else!

If there are so many goalies out there, why are we all struggling to think of a world class replacement for David?
All depends what they're offering though doesn't it. Apprently they started at £13 million which is a paltry amount. The reality is United can afford financially to keep him and lose him on a free next year. At those sort of figures they'd be made to let him go frankly. He might be worth that much to us this year if his form brings a title or a good run in Europe.
Madrid want the player and he wants to go - fine. But a lot can happen in a year. Injury, lack of form of Real's current keeper being so bad they move for somebody else and his opportunity is gone. He might even end up signing a new deal if things change.
I admire United's stance. Not bowing down to Real and then with Ramos letting them know that unsettling players can work both ways - especially when you have the financial muscle United have in terms of offering massive wages with little problem. if they're serious about him then make a serious offer. If not, then I say keep him and worry about it next summer.
DDG's worth is more than just what RM are willing to pay us for him. Arguably without him last season we could have ended up outside of the CL places and therefore the potential for revenue from there.Real Madrid have us by the balls. I think people genuinely beleive that he only wants to move to Spain to be with his girlfriend.
I dont believe this for even for 1 second.
If he had his wife and kids in Spain, I could understand, but a girlfriend...no way.
He simply wants to join Madrid (just like Ronaldo, before him). It really is as simple as that.
DDG is a top professional getting good advice from various people. He wants to move upwards, so realistically, Bayern, Barca and Real are his only options.
Agreed, price is key, end of transfer window, someone else lined up you'd have to say what £20-25m maybe? Otherwise it's a heavy price to pay for one season
On other words, you know the surnames of 10 or so keepers that play in Europe.Well some we have missed out on - Cech, Begovic and Casillas
But there are other decent enough options:
Forster
Lloris
Adrian
Neuer
Lopez
Handanovic
Adler
Stegan
Enyeama
Sirigu
Navas
Ok few can compare against DDG and some would be hugely priced, but there are options!
The way I see it now, we have and are currently addressing more pressing issues within the squad. With the additions we've already made and a top class CB added, we'll only need a good-very good keeper between the sticks. Valdes will probably do.
Valdes is gone, so he is no solution

Me too. It's definitely the best stance. I don't think Real have us by the balls at all, I think we have them.
Real being without DDG this season is a big, big problem for them if their remaining keepers don't perform. And if they do perform, everything could change by next season. If Navas has a great season for example why would they buy DDG?
And of course if they want him now, they would have to sell us Ramos and not for a ridiculous amount.
Pretty standard practice I think.Rumours Real Madrid are incentivising De Geas contract offer that if he signs next summer so as to avoid ANY transfer fee for Real Madrid he will get a 3.5 mil sign on bonus.
Cheeky feckers...
